KEYNOTE SPEAKER Christina Puchalski Christina Puchalski, MD, MS, FACP, FAAHPM, an international leader in the movement to integrate spirituality into healthcare in the clinical setting and in medical education, is the founder and director of the George Washington Institute for Spirituality and Health at The George Washington University. Dr. Puchalski is a professor of Medicine and Health Sciences at The George Washington University School of Medicine. She founded and co-directs the MFA-GWU Outpatient Supportive and Palliative Care Clinic. She has received many awards, including the George Washington University Distinguished Alumni Award and The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Humanities Award. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Puchalski is widely published and has authored a book, entitled Time for Listening and Caring: Spirituality and the Care of the Seriously Ill and Dying, Oxford University Press. She published Making Health Care Whole, Templeton Press. She co-edited an international textbook on spirituality and health, Oxford University Press. Dr. Puchalski is first and foremost a clinician, integrating patients spiritual beliefs into their care and addressing sensitive medical issues facing seriously ill patients. Puchalski s work in the field of spirituality and medicine encompasses the clinical, the academic, and the pastoral application of her research and insights.
