Perfrm an Autdetect On the left pane, right-click the Unit Manager level, then select Autdetect. Set the IP Address Range t minimize the time it takes t aut-detect the unit. Click Start t begin Mediatrix unit detectin. When the unit is detected, the Result sectin lists the unit. Select the unit and click OK. If n DHCP server is used in yur subnet, yu must cnnect ne unit at a time since they will start by using the default IP address 192.168.0.1 after a recvery reset. Yu will have t set a different static IP address fr every unit. Please see the Mediatrix 4104 and 1204 SIP Quick Start Guide fr mre details n initial setup. 1 If yu are having truble pening the UMN applicatin, verify that the status f the Unit Manager Netwrk 3.2 service is started. See Page 5 t access Windws Services. Page 4 f 23
Nte: The UMN runs in the Windws backgrund. Media5 highly recmmends that the administratr stps and restarts the UMN service whenever the IP address f the PC is changed. A restart may be needed depending n yur Windws O/S. G t Start Menu > Settings > Cntrl Panel > Administrative Tls > Services. Stp and restart the Unit Manager Netwrk 3.2 service. Alternatively, yu can cnfigure multiple IP addresses n the same PC netwrk interface card (nly in static IP mde nt DHCP) t avid restarting the cmputer r stpping and restarting the UMN service whenever yu change the IP address and subnet f the Mediatrix unit. This is recmmended fr advanced IP netwrk users, the current cnfiguratin ntes d nt cver the step by step setting fr this alternative. Page 5 f 23

Step 7: Cnfigure the Hk Flash Relay If yur PBX uses the Hk Flash feature, yu must cnfigure bth the Mediatrix 4104 and Mediatrix 1204 s that they can prperly exchange the Hk Flash events. See als the Mediatrix 1204 cnfiguratin. G t mediatrix > mediatrixcnfig > telephnyattributesmib > telephnyattributesmibobjects > telephnyattributesiffeaturestable > telephnyattributesiffeaturesentry > telephnyattributeshkflashprcessing and set this parameter t utofbandusingrtp. The Mediatrix 4104 will relay hk-flash events t the Mediatrix 1204 as telephne-event 16 via an RFC 2833 RTP packet. Page 11 f 23
Cnfiguring the Mediatrix 1204 Step 1: Autdetect the Mediatrix 1204 Autdetect the Mediatrix 1204 after a recvery reset (in a recvery reset, the unit restarts with the address 192.168.0.1) and cnfigure the IP addresses t reflect yur netwrk parameters. Uncheck Use DHCP if yu are using static IP addresses. An example is shwn in the fllwing figure. Restart the unit after the cnfiguratin f IP addresses fr the unit t accept the new addresses. When using DHCP, yu can reserve the IP address fr the Mediatrix 1204 by assigning the MAC address f the unit t a specific IP address in yur DHCP server it will be easier t aut-detect the unit fr prvisining. Page 12 f 23
Step 2: Cnfigure SIP Parameters Select the Sip page f the 1204 and set the fllwing: Uncheck Use DHCP. Set the SIP Prxy field t be the IP address f the destinatin devices, the Mediatrix 4104 IP address in this case. Use default values fr the ther entries. Page 13 f 23
Step 3: Cnfigure Incming Calls frm PSTN Behaviur Cnfiguratin Ntes 292 The Mediatrix 1204 exhibits tw pssible behaviurs when an incming call frm the PSTN is received: The Mediatrix 1204 ges ff-hk and prduces a secnd dial tne frm which the PSTN user can dial a number in IP. The Mediatrix 1204 redirects the call t a specific SIP endpint upn ff-hk. Fr the purpse f this applicatin, the secnd behaviur is required. The gal is t tie the PBX analg extensin t a specific FXS pint lcated remtely in the IP netwrk. Select the Telephny Attributes page and set the fllwing: Enable Autmatic call n all prts. Set an Autmatic call address fr each prt. If yu want t map prts f the 1204 t multiple units Set the Autmatic call address including the IP address f the destinatin units. Page 14 f 23
Step 4: NAT Traversal Cnfiguratin Cnfiguratin Ntes 292 Yu must cnfigure the fllwing parameters fr the Mediatrix unit t wrk behind a NAT/Firewall ruter: G t mediatrix > mediatrixexperimental > sipexperimentalmib > sipexperimentalmibobjects > sipnatcustm > sipnatcustmenable and set this parameter t enable. G t mediatrix > mediatrixexperimental > sipexperimentalmib > sipexperimentalmibobjects > sipnatcustm > sipnatcustmpublicaddress and set the parameter t be the public IP address f the NAT/Firewall ruter where the 1204 is lcated. Step 5: Cnfigure Traffic Ruting t the Mediatrix Unit T allw traffic frm the NAT/Firewall ruter t be ruted t the Mediatrix unit, there are tw alternatives: Optin1 Cnfigure the NAT/Firewall ruter s DMZ (demilitarized zne) t include the Mediatrix unit. Please refer t the dcumentatin prvided with yur NAT/Firewall ruter fr cnfiguratin details. Optin 2 Enable the prt frwarding n the NAT/Firewall ruter. The fllwing prts shuld be frwarded t the IP address f the Mediatrix unit behind the NAT/Firewall: UDP 5060 fr SIP Signaling UDP 5004 t 5010 fr Vice RTP streams UDP 161 (ptinal fr management f unit via UMN-SNMP) Page 15 f 23
Step 6: Cnfigure Dial Tne Detectin The FXO dial tne detectin mechanim allws the Mediatrix 1204 t wait fr a dial tne n the PSTN side befre initiating the dialing sequence. If n dial tne is detected, the line is cnsidered busy with an incming PSTN call. This mechanism helps t avid cllisins between incming and utging calls. Under Edit SNMP, g t mediatrix > mediatrixcnfig > fxmib > fxmibobjects > fxlineprpertiescustmizatin > fxdialtnedetectinmde and set this parameter t cuntrytne. Nte: Certain PBX manufacturers d nt prduce the cuntry dial tne n the extensin line. If this is the case, make sure that the dial tne detectin is disabled, therwise the Mediatrix 1204 will nt utput dialed digits. Page 16 f 23
Step 7: Cnfigure the Answering Delay Under Edit SNMP, g t mediatrix > mediatrixcnfig > fxmib > fxmibobjects > fxifansweringdelaytable. The parameter fxansweroncalleriddetectin allws the Mediatrix 1204 t g ff-hk upn caller ID detectin during the ringing f the PBX extensin. Nte: If the PBX des nt pass the caller ID t the Mediatrix 1204, yu can reduce the <fxpreanswerdelay = 1000> t reduce the time befre the Mediatrix 1204 ges ff-hk upn ring detectin. Page 17 f 23
Step 8: Cnfigure the Line Selectin Parameters (Prt-t-Prt Mapping) Cnfiguratin Ntes 292 Under Edit SNMP, g t mediatrix > mediatrixcnfig > lineselectinmib > lineselectinmibobjects > lineselectinifcustmizatintable: Set the lineselectinenable variable t enable. Set the lineselectindigitmap variable t the number crrespnding t the Mediatrix 4104 FXS user name. This feature enables the prt-t-prt mapping between the Mediatrix 4104 and Mediatrix 1204. Each prt f the Mediatrix 1204 crrespnds t a specific prt f the Mediatrix 4104. Page 18 f 23
Step 9: Cnfigure the Far End Discnnect Parameters Far end discnnect refers t methds fr detecting that a remte party has hung up. The far end discnnect signal is nt mandatry in Lp Start and this culd create prblems. The lack f a far end discnnect signal in Lp Start lines is ne f the main reasns why the Grund Start lines were created. If the far end discnnect signal is nt sent t r prperly detected by the Mediatrix 1204, the cnnectin will nt be released by the unit, thus freezing the FXO prt in the ff hk state. Under Edit SNMP, g t mediatrix > mediatrixcnfig > fxmib > fxmibobjects > fxfrcedendofcallcustmizatin. Set the fxfecontnedetectinmde variable t custmtne. Set the frequency that the Mediatrix 1204 needs t detect fr far end discnnect. This frequency is typically the dial tne frequency (350 Hz fr Nrth America) but will vary frm ne PBX t anther. Please verify with yur PBX vendr t determine what tne (exact frequency and cadence) the PBX prduces n the extensin when the far end is discnnected. Set the fxendofcalltnecustmfrequency variable t 350 Hz. Set the cadence and repetitin required with the fxendofcalltnecustmcadence and fxendofcalltnecustmrepetitin variables. Page 19 f 23
Page 20 f 23 Cnfiguratin Ntes 292
Step 10: Cnfigure the Hk Flash Relay If yur PBX uses the Hk Flash feature, yu must cnfigure bth the Mediatrix 4104 and Mediatrix 1204 s that they can prperly exchange the Hk Flash events. See als the Mediatrix 4104 cnfiguratin. G t mediatrix > mediatrixcnfig > telephnyattributesmib > telephnyattributesmibobjects > telephnyattributesiffeaturestable > telephnyattributesiffeaturesentry > telephnyattributeshkflashprcessing and set this parameter t utofbandusingrtp. The hk-flash events that are received via an RFC 2833 RTP packet is executed. G t mediatrix > mediatrixcnfig > fxmib > fxmibobjects > fxifansweringdelaytable > fxifansweringdelayentry > fxwaitfrcalleetanswerenable and set it t enable. This instructs the Mediatrix 1204 t wait until the called party answers the phne befre it picks up the PSTN line. Page 21 f 23
Step 11: Make a Call Cnnect an analg phne t a prt f yur Mediatrix 4104 device. Pick up the phne, yu shuld hear a dial tne. Dial any valid extensin number f yur PBX. The dialed extensin shuld ring. Page 22 f 23
Appendix A Trubleshting Tips 1. It is strngly recmmended t disable the Call Waiting n the extensin cnnected t the Mediatrix 1204. Call Waiting tne prvided by the PBX t the Mediatrix 1204 may trigger the far end discnnect f yur Mediatrix 1204 and drp the call. 2. Enabling Current Drp n yur PBX extensins cnnected t the Mediatrix 1204 will imprve the release line. 3. N dial tne n the Mediatrix 4104 when picking up the phne. Verify the cnfiguratin f yur Mediatrix 4104 r yur hardware cnnectin n the Mediatrix 4104. The prblem wuld reside n the Mediatrix 4104 s since it prvides dial tne t its prts. 4. Cannt establish calls. Can yu ping the Mediatrix 1204 frm the Mediatrix 4104 and vice-versa? 5. Sme prts f the Mediatrix 1204 cannt seize the PBX line. a. PBX calibratin may vary frm ne prt t anther. b. Disable the Stutter dial tne played by the PBX t annunce a vicemail message t the prt cnnected n the Mediatrix 1204. Page 23 f 23
