JOB SCRPTON Post epartment Reporting to Responsible for Network Manager T Support irector of T & Resources T nterprise Team Overall Purpose To be responsible for installing, configuring and supporting all servers, communications, back-up systems, data recovery systems and workstations within all New College Stamford sites for administrative and academic computer maintenance of the College s virtualised environment. The post holder will work collaboratively to build a long term T technical platform aligned to the College s vision of continuous quality improvement and the College s strategic plans. Accountabilities To co-ordinate and oversee the relationship between T Support Team and T nterprise Team, overseeing all activities and operations to provide first class T Support to staff and students at all New College Stamford sites, based on industry standards for T service deliver. To be a pro-active Network Manager and an excellent, inspiring role model for the T Support Team Leader, Web Systems eveloper, MS Systems eveloper and T Support Technicians. To manage and be accountable for the performance of staff within the area who support the process of T for staff and students. To develop long term technology road-mapping for the department and the College as a whole, identifying T development needs and producing a framework for strategic planning. To take the lead in the management, development, support and troubleshooting of the College Virtual nfrastructure or technical equivalent through from hardware to operating system and application level. To evaluate different methods of application software delivery and advise on the associated licensing implications, to support the curriculum in its development of the use of LT. To provide systems administration services for the College s systems, ensuring availability of the service is maintained and monitored. To perform maintenance, upgrades, patches, backups and trouble-shooting, as appropriate. To monitor system performance, including load balancing, resource availability and power usage, produce reports and suggest suitable, cost conscious improvements. To provide support for the process of configuration and customisation of software systems, with particular responsibility for the development, documentation, testing and customer support of all virtual and thin-client environments. To produce appropriate documentation for the implementation, support and management of the T environment, including backups, maintenance procedures, systems recovery and technical guides for users. 1
To perform daily administrative server functions including back-up, recovery and disk space management. To prepare quarterly reports for the irector of T & Resources on the T nterprise Team in co-ordination with the T Support Team Leader. Prepare annual T reports for Governors detailing short and long term project plans, developments and initiatives under the director of the irector of T & Resources. To support and maintain all applications used across College including the HR/Payroll system, Finance system and MS systems. Some of which are industry standard systems and some are bespoke. Working with HR and MS specialist software providers to ensure the systems work efficiently. To configure, administer and maintain all College systems to protect the College from cyber-attacks, by maintaining the highest level of security from proxy devices, web blockers, email filter management and firewalls. To build a robust and cost effective data recovery plan and technical environment. To work closely with the irector of T & Resources as part of the T nterprise Team to delivery new services and applications with the help of the MS Systems eveloper and Web Systems eveloper. To diagnose and correct hardware and software problems and provide technical support to end users via the T Support Helpdesk Team. To work flexibly to meet agreed deadlines and targets, as and when required. To perform duties to a high standard and to ensure that quality assurance and improvement processes are implemented successfully across the College, particularly those relating to own role. Terms and Conditions Hours: Salary: Contract: Full time 37 hours per week, to include occasional evenings/weekends Circa 35,000 per annum subject to qualifications and experience Permanent Holiday: Holiday entitlement of 25 days per annum. n addition, you are entitled to 8 Bank/statutory holidays and 3 concessionary days to be taken on specified days over the Christmas/New Year period to coincide with the closure of the College.
