St Peters is a Catholic school with a strong Christian ethos which underpins all we do. We are also an Academy, jointly sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth and the De La Salle Order an international organisation which has been running schools for over 300 years. The school consists of two sites, currently years 7 and 8 are accommodated at Iford and years 9 to 13 at Southbourne. From September 2014, the Iford site begins a transition period to become the primary phase as St Peter s becomes an All Through school, with facilities for 4 18 year olds. It is a school with a tradition of success, oversubscribed every year and benefitting from a deservedly positive reputation in the local community. Relationships with families are affirming and constructive, with parents and carers keen to support the school and the child s learning. We are not a complacent community; all staff are keen to learn and improve, developing pedagogy through research, shared practice and innovation. We therefore seek individuals who are committed to comprehensive and inclusive education, to developing their practice through collaboration with colleagues and to delivering high standards and success through high expectations. We seek to appoint staff who are comfortable with the Catholic ethos of the school and able to support our core values. We are looking for teachers who have a clear pastoral commitment, able to get to know their students quickly and tailor the teaching to meet their needs. The school is looking for an enthusiastic and technical IT Support analyst. The successful candidate will be required to have the ability to provide direct technical support to end-users for all IT related issues for hardware and software. Support includes: installation, configuration, monitoring, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading of new and existing desktops, laptops, peripheral equipment and approved PC software; providing indepth support on Windows applications, network connectivity, network printing, and any other hardware/software issues. Naturally, the role requires the ability to log and own all incidents and requests, relating to the IT systems and services, managing them through to restoration or resolution. The role requires a high technical skill level to investigate, diagnose and interpret technical information provided by systems monitoring tools as well as the foresight to be able to write clear business cases for recommending improvements to our network. This is a proactive role which requires the ability to work closely with external support partners as well as our own in-house escalation and management teams.

3 Personal Specification IT Technician / Support Analyst Essential criteria Desirable criteria Qualifications English and mathematics GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C or above Willingness to undertake further relevant study or training. Experience Experience of supporting a wide variety of hardware is essential: laptops, desktops, ipads, IGEL thin clients, wireless networks, Microsoft terminal services/rds etc. Experience of working with thin client and VMware virtualisation technologies. Knowledge of PC TCP/IP installation, configuration and supporting network infrastructures, fault finding and terminology. Experience of supporting a wide variety of software applications: Windows 7, Internet Explorer, Office suite, Active Directory, Microsoft RDS, SharePoint, App-V as well as wired networking and wireless infrastructure. Ability to relate to and communicate with all management levels. To support the development and maintenance of our website and other e-communication systems. Experience of working with Facility, SIMS or a similar data management system Experience of working with Civica (Corero) Finance Software Experience of working with young people Experience of working in a school environment. 5 ST PETER S SCHOOL Job Description IT Technician / Support Analyst Postholder: Salary BG3 Scale Contractual Weeks Contractual Hours 43 weeks per annum (39 weeks term time plus 4 weeks during School holidays) 37 hours per week Key Role and Responsibilities Reporting to the IT Manager the role is to provide an efficient and cost effective IT facility and support service to the school community. Working with the IT Manager the post holder will assist in the development of the IT and related facilities in line with new technologies and opportunities. The role will include occasional travel to lower school site. Main Duties Software - Configuration, deployment, administration and support of Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Windows 8 Professional, and Microsoft Office Suites Troubleshoot and upgrade existing operational environment consisting of workstations running Windows, MAC and android operating systems Hardware - Configuration, deployment, administration and support of IT assets, including PCs, laptops, tablets, projectors and printers Answer calls made to the IT Service Desk and where possible provide support using remote connection tools. Where remote fixes are not possible, provide desk-side assistance at a suitable time Record all user requests, repairs, and reported issues in detail and record completion and resolution Ensure user-related hardware (desktops, laptops, tablets, projectors and printers) and software inventory is accurate and up to date Following the User Maintenance procedure, ensure that requests for new, leaving and changing users are actioned and documented Work with the IT Manager to investigate new hardware and software Work with the IT Manager to develop and implement support procedures as required Work with third party providers as required, providing assistance wherever necessary and appropriate, ensuring a high level of service is provided Provide IT training/assistance to staff as and when required Work with the IT Manager to provide technical support and/or attendance for offsite operations and special events
