POSITION OBJECTIVES To assist the ICT Manager maintains the day to day operation, management, development, security, reliability and smooth running of the College s ICT network. To provide the day-to-day support for the maintenance, management and development of the College s ICT Network and Services for staff and students. Safety. KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Helpdesk and Technical Support Procure, deliver and pickup audio visual equipment from the College locations as required. Install and set up PA audio visual systems as required. Inspect and perform minor repairs and liaise with external vendors for the repairs to audio visual equipment as required. Demonstrate or instruct others in the use of audio and video equipment as required. Maintain an accurate list of audio visual enabled rooms (e.g. classrooms), and the cyclic upgrade of them. Maintenance of digital signage systems throughout the school. Develop and maintain annual schedule for audio visual events and requirement. Assist in system upgrades, install, integrate, customise, configure and test new systems and hardware, and resolve configuration conflicts and errors. Assist in providing advanced technical assistance, support and troubleshooting in the resolution of system communications failures and conflict. Perform routing, day-to-day hardware and software maintenance as assigned, and assist in the proper upkeep and utilization of systems. Liaise with outside suppliers for purchasing and repairs as directed by the Manager of ICT. Assist in providing general technical assistance and maintenance support on diverse software applications, operating systems and hardware systems to end users. Create, change, and delete user accounts per request. Second in-line to deal with helpdesk issues. System Administration Support Responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and vendors. Develop, administer and maintain the College s network, platform (e.g. Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, VMWare, Cisco, etc.) security and infrastructure. Develop, administer and maintain a Standard Operating Environment for all workstations and servers for students, staff and the community. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services and applications as necessary. Procure and maintain related applications and software for all computing equipment and infrastructure, include upgrade and configure system software that supports the College infrastructure and business applications. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Responsible for ensuring the servers are backed up, and that the server data is secure from unauthorized access. Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary. Oversee all backup schedules for all services and report on agreed compliance. Update and maintain Disaster Recovery Plan and Documentation. Manage ICT assets and generate annual reports as directed by Manager of ICT. Manage the College s telephone account and associated mobile phones. Liaise with other departments to co-ordinate projects and activities relating to ICT. Analyse and report on quantity and type of issues received by the department. Develop and maintain annual schedule for cyclic device upgrades. Develop and maintain annual schedule for software and system upgrades. Responsible for performing light programming (usually scripting, which involves writing programs to automate tasks), and assist with crystal reports creation, development and maintenance for business applications. Assist in project development and implementation with technical issues including technical analysis and design, support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies or as directed by Manager of ICT. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. Assist in developing information security strategies and network security architectures, IT risk analysis and IT security policies and guidleines. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures. Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary. Maintain data centre environmental and monitoring equipment. Maintain an active leave calendar and follow up ICT staff leave. Assist with technical issues. Manage other system wide software such as antivirus. Assist with invoicing and purchase orders. Other duties as assigned by Manager of ICT. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Undertake the tasks of configuration of the hardware devices, testing new softwares, designing the structure of the network, maintain network hardware and software and engaged in the inventory and organization of different types of software and hardware resources. Contribute in the creation and maintenance of documentation, which has technical information such as the development and maintenance installation and configuration, and end users procedures and instructions. Contribute to and maintain high ICT system standards Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure Maintain a high level of quality customer service standards when dealing with problems and responding to calls for assistance. Confers with staff, end-users, supervisors, and managers to determine support requirements for new features, applications or the College s ICT system functionality. Prepares activity reports and writes recommendations for management review. Trains helpdesk staff to answer and resolve incoming calls. Assist with the scheduling of lower level helpdesk technicians. Supervises the implementation of procedure changes for the College s ICT helpdesk operation. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to represent the College in public forums and observe protocol. Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff. Very good knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts Experience in a broad range of technology environments especially in an Educational environment. Fully competent in the management and administration of large Virtualised Environment (VMWare), Microsoft Networks and Apple OS networks.
