WiNTER EMoTioNs A multicoloured holiday in the snow VISITTRENTINO.IT TRENTINO.IT Map of the area

The Dolomites Experience this natural heritage At sunset an extraordinary spellbinding spectacle. At this time of the day, the rocky walls of the Dolomites assume a pink glow, due to their characteristic composition of calcium carbonate and magnesium, creating a phenomenon called Enrosadira. The Dolomites, nominated a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO in June 2009, are a treasure occupying a large area of Trentino. These amazing natural formations not only impress with their vertical dimensions but also with their changing colours and contrasts throughout the different seasons. The pistes at the foot of the Dolomites of Fassa, Fiemme and the Pale di San Martino, and those facing the other mountain chain born out of the seas, the Brenta Dolomites in west Trentino, are a dream. A setting of peaks, walls and spires transforms with every ascent and accompanies you on every descent, continuously changing. You could ask for nothing more, just silence, as the poets say, but Trentino offers much more than this: hospitality, good food, wellbeing, events and culture. Trentino is a multi-coloured experience just waiting to be discovered. visittrentino.it

Gliding Everyone their own piste Skiing in Trentino means being surrounded by an enchanting world. Over 800 kilometres of pistes, 237 ski-lifts and electronic ski passes. Almost the entire ski area is divided into two circuits: Skirama and Dolomiti Superski. In Trentino there are Alpine ski pistes for all levels, from the easiest to the challenging and adrenalin-packed black slopes. Cross-country ski enthusiasts can find a real snow paradise with 470 km of trails and about twenty equipped centres. The greatest attraction for cross-country skiers is the Super Nordic Skipass, a circuit that includes 14 ski-centres and 1,000 kilometres of trails. The pistes in Trentino are covered by a widespread webcam service. A highly useful app is Skitrentino (for iphones, ipads and Androids), providing skiers with ongoing access to all information about the ski areas. Another app not to be missed is ARound Trentino (for iphones), which exploits augmented reality, whereas those who love excursions will appreciate the Trentino Outdoor app (for iphones, ipads and Androids), which shows snowshoe and ski-mountaineering routes. visittrentino.it/snow

Walking Not only skiing You can go hiking in the mountains and discover enchanting places even in winter along the many trails, wearing ciaspole, namely, snowshoes attached to your boots. Snowshoeing is an enjoyable way for everyone to get some exercise in the open air. Alternatively, you can try Nordic walking, the new fitness trend on groomed snow, with many excursions organised by mountain guides. The best places for these sports include the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Nature Park and the Trentino section of the Stelvio National Park. Some of the best ski resorts in Trentino, the Val di Fiemme, Val di Fassa, San Martino di Castrozza and Altipiani di Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna offer the opportunity to participate in these activities free of charge with guides and instructors. Hospitality includes facilities that display the Qualità Parco mark, for an eco-sustainable holiday, in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, in Dolomiti Walking Hotels or in the more rustic but extremely charming accommodation of the Vacanze in Baita circuit. visittrentino.it/outdoor-activities

Having fun Energy and wellbeing in the open air Snowboarding is the symbol of freedom and fun. Trentino is an ideal place for this young sport not only due to its pistes, the natural environment and the opportunities for après ski and entertainment but also to the areas dedicated to snowboard enthusiasts. The circuit has five fully equipped centres in different areas of the province: including Monte Bondone Snowpark, just a few kilometres from Trento, Ursus Snowpark in Madonna di Campiglio, Easy Snowpark in San Pellegrino in the Val di Fassa, Morea Snowpark in Bellamonte in the Val di Fiemme, and San Martino Snowpark in the Primiero area. In winter, outdoor sports also include ice-skating, a sport for everyone offered by almost all tourist resorts. With ice rinks in Canazei, Cavalese, Andalo, Folgarida, Pinzolo, Trento, Folgaria and Miola di Piné, and many lakes, you can also ice-skate in the evenings. visittrentino.it/snowboarding

Relaxing Regenerating sun and water What could be better after a few ski descents than a break to relax and sunbathe? Trentino offers plenty of opportunities, during the warmest time of the day, on wonderful natural terraces, where you can admire the enchanting scenery of snow-covered peaks and spires. You can also regenerate your body and mind in one of the 36 Vita Nova - Trentino Wellness club establishments (34 hotels and 2 campsites). Relaxation and body treatments are also a must in the spa centres of Trentino, all situated in natural surroundings at an altitude of 50 to 1,400 metres. They include the Terme Dolomia in the Val di Fassa, the Terme di Comano, the Terme di Pejo in the valley of the same name, Fonte di Sant Antonio in the Val Rendena, and Gardatherme, the wellness and beauty centre close to the banks of Lake Garda. For those in search of the highest level of comfort, the Trentino Charme circuit includes 10 hotels, as well as resorts and farmhouses in different styles and contexts, which share the pursuit of excellence and are specifically designed for all those who love to pamper themselves. visittrentino.it/wellness

Playing Perfect snow for families Winter holidays in Trentino are tailor-made for families. Tourist resorts offer plenty of activities for both young and old to enjoy. There are pistes and skilifts suitable for beginners, activities and babysitting on the snow, as well as many accommodation establishments providing special menus and facilities for children. For three-year-olds and over, who, besides skiing, want to play in the snow, there are kindergartens, where qualified staff organise games and entertainment. Then there are winter play parks with slides, rubber rings for sledging, ice tunnels, trampolines and much more. Families with children should look for hotels with the Giocovacanza sign. This club of 21 hotels offers a host of activities so that adults and children can have fun together. visittrentino.it/family-winter

Tasting Trentino on the table The fun continues at night. Going up to a mountain refuge on a snowcat or on snowshoes, surrounded by silence, provides unique emotions. Here you can experience the special atmosphere of an evening at a high altitude, in front of a fireplace, with the flavours of Trentino. It is an opportunity to sample typical dishes such as polenta with mushrooms or grilled cheese, strangolapreti with melted butter, orzotto (pearl barley risotto), wild game, as well as local cold cuts and cheeses, not to mention exquisite desserts, wines and grappa, all typical of Trentino. A world of flavours has been organised along three Roads of Wine and Flavours. The most important one passes through the Valle dell Adige, Vallagarina, the Lake Garda area and the Brenta Dolomites, the Colline Avisiane, Faedo and the Valle di Cembra, the Piana Rotaliana, Trento and Valsugana. The Road of Apples and Flavours of the Val di Non and Val di Sole winds its way through orchards, castles and deep gorges, following the Noce river. Finally, the Dolomite Cheese Route stretches across an area that includes the Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme and the Primiero area. visittrentino.it/food-and-wine

Art and culture A land of art and culture Inaugurated in July 2013, the MuSe, the futuristic science museum designed by Renzo Piano, has already made its mark around the world. The museum is an excellent example of architecture and a hub of knowledge: the exhibition tour focuses on the mountains to portray life on earth, starting with glaciers and ending with tropical environments, all faithfully reconstructed. The excellent cultural features of the province of Trento include the Mart in Rovereto, one of the most prestigious museums of contemporary art in Europe, the Museo degli Usi e Costumi della Gente Trentina and the Gallerie di Piedicastello, two former road tunnels transformed into an art gallery. The TrentoRovereto. Towns of Culture project involves an innovative practical card that allows tourists to take advantage of cultural events and a transport service in Trento and Rovereto. Over 70 castles embellish the local area. The most treasured of these include Castel Thun, Castello del Buonconsiglio, Castel Beseno and Castello di Stenico. visittrentino.it/art-culture

Exciting The spectacle of sport Trentino hosts important sports events. Once again, this winter many of these will enable you to see the stars of sport in action. Many people can also participate, perhaps without aspiring to a place on the podium but just for the satisfaction of saying I did it. These events include the mythical Marcialonga, the 70-km cross-country ski race through the Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa, and the Ciaspolada, the 7-km snowshoe race through the villages of the Upper Val di Non. There are also races for champions only, such as the stages of the Tour de Ski in the Val di Fiemme, or the V Pay Alpine Rockfest, one of the scheduled events for ski champions of the Circo Bianco (White Circuit), who are ready to challenge each other on the snow of the Paganella Ski area. Then there is the Trofeo Topolino (Nordic junior ski trophy), scheduled in the Val di Fiemme, and the alpine ski trophy organised on the Altopiani di Folgaria. The prestigious Sellaronda Ski Marathon, a skimountaineering race in pairs, takes place at night in the Val di Fassa, featuring a 42-km trail and an ascent of 2,700 metres. visittrentino.it/sports-events

visittrentino.it fly Flying ski to shuttle the snow A fly ski shuttle from the airport to the pistes During the winter tourist season, from December to April, a shuttle service connects the airports of Verona, Bergamo and Venice (with a stop in Treviso) to some of the most popular tourist resorts of Trentino. This makes it easier for tourists travelling on national and international flights to reach the holiday resorts and avoids the inconvenience of using public transport that may not coincide with connections and timetables. Trentino online The tourism portal for Trentino, visittrentino.it, is the best way to obtain upto-date information on events, places, routes, photos, maps, weather, webcams, hotels and restaurants. Download brochures from the address: www. visittrentino.it/it/servizi_multimedia/brochure. ipad users can download using the Trentino Flyer app. The VisitTrentino Tourist Guide app (for iphones and Androids) allows access to the same services, whereas the Trentino Outdoor app (for iphones, ipads and Androids) allows users to organise outdoor activities such as hiking, ski-mountaineering, ice-climbing etc. The Ski Trentino app (for iphones, ipads and Androids) focuses on winter fun and is for those looking for information on the conditions of pistes and the weather, whereas the ARound Trentino app (for iphones only) offers augmented reality. Download the apps free of charge from the page www.visittrentino.it/mobile. Several local areas and APTs (tourist boards) offer this type of service. In recent years, Trentino has fully embraced social networking through Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, FourSquare and Tripadvisor. You can also enter our community: social.visittrentino.it The shuttle service takes tourists straight from the airports of Verona and Bergamo to Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo, Val di Sole, Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme, Altopiano della Paganella, Altopiano di Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna and Monte Bondone. From Venice airport, the shuttle service goes to Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme and San Martino di Castrozza. For further information, please ring the Call Center on 0039 0461 391111, open from Monday to Saturday from 9am-6pm, or visit the website flyskishuttle.com

the hospitality clubs Trentino provides accommodation for approximately 479 thousand guests: 94 thousand in about 1,500 hotels (from 1 to 5 stars), 72 thousand in residence, apartments, campsites, agriturs and another 314 thousand in second homes. Guests can choose from top-quality hospitality in hotels, B&Bs or agriturs, or a self-catering holiday in guaranteed apartments.
