RMS is part of a new integrated transport authority led by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) that aims to create a better transport system, one that is fundamentally designed around the needs and expectations of customers, communities and the economy. The other delivery focused Transport Agencies include Sydney Trains, NSW Trains and the State Transit Authority. The Private Transport Operators include Private Ferry operators and Private Bus operators. Primary purpose of the role The Manager Engineering Services will manage and provide technical engineering services across the range of projects within a Program Office. They will review contractor designs to identify risks and opportunities on projects, and provide technical support role for problem resolution within the Program Office. Key accountabilities Work in close collaboration with the Engineering Services team to ensure that technical issues across the projects within the Program Office are resolved and managed, ensuring lessons learned from other projects are implemented Provide technical support role for problem resolution within the Program Office Ensure project designs comply with relevant standards and are fit for purpose. Ensure projects across the Program Office adhere to the division s technical management processes. Identify design risks and opportunities on projects, ensuring risks are designed out wherever possible. Manage design designated risks ensuring that the division s risk based approach is adhered to on all projects within the Program Office. Key challenges Implementing consistent technical governance systems, new processes and supporting systems across a large number of project management teams. Inspiring, motivating and developing the engineering services team to identify opportunities for continual process improvement and deliver a high quality service that meets the needs of the business and best practice. Managing conflicting priorities within strict timeframes and government commitments whilst maintaining quality and professionalism. Role dimensions Decision making This role: is accountable for the leadership of the engineering services team within their respective Program Office, ensuring agreed technical standards are implemented consistently across all projects within the Program Office Reporting line The Manager Engineering Services will be accountable to both the General Manager of the Program Office and the Principal Manager Engineering Services to ensure unified outcomes are delivered across Roads and Maritime and its Divisions. There is a direct reporting line to the Principal Manager Engineering Services and an expectation delivery will be consistent with Roads and Maritime policy and practice.. Direct reports This role will have a variable number of Direct and Indirect Reports. Budget/Expenditure TBC Essential requirements 1. Tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related discipline. 2. Demonstrated experience working with integrated teams on a major infrastructure project with highly developed technical knowledge of design and construction 3. Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and management of contract arrangements and support in a complex environment involving private sector partnerships and industry contestability. 4. Proven capacity to undertake research, analyse complex issues, use advanced problem solving skills and make balanced and ethical judgements. 5. Proven ability to communicate clearly, concisely and appropriately both verbally and in writing, and to produce timely and critical reports. 6.
