AnyConnect on Windows How Do I Install AnyConnect on a Windows PC? Log In to the VPN Portal Before you attempt to install AnyConnect on your computer, check to ensure you have the administrator information. If you do not have the administrator information contact the IT Service Desk at 617-627-3376. 1. Open a web browser and go to https://vpn.tufts.edu. 2. TUFTS USERNAME - enter your Tufts Username. 3. Navigate to the Install AnyConnect Page In the navigation pane on the left, click Install AnyConnect. Select Installation Package In the main window, click the link Microsoft Windows installation package. Save the AnyConnect Executable File Click Save at the confirmation window that appears at the bottom of your browser to save the.exe (executable file) to your computer. Begin Installation Wizard for the AnyConnect Application 1. Open your Downloads folder. 2. Locate the AnyConnect executable file. The file will have a long name that begins with anyconnect-win-. (Note: The file name ends with.exe and the file type is Application.) 3. Double click on the AnyConnect.exe file to begin the Setup Wizard. Run the Setup Wizard At the Open File - Security Warning screen click Run to start the Setup Wizard. Click Next at the Welcome to Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility client Setup Wizard window. Enter the Administrator Information At this point the User Account Control window will appear asking "Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?" Enter the administrator information for the computer. Please note, if you do not have this information contact the IT Service Desk at 617-627-3376. 1. User name - Enter the administrator name for your computer. 2. Password - Enter the administrators password for your computer. 3. Click Yes. Complete Installation Click Finish at the "Completing the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility client Setup Wizard" window. The window will close automatically and the AnyConnect application is installed on your computer. How Do I Open AnyConnect on my Windows PC? Locate the AnyConnect Application 1. Go to Start > Programs. 2. Locate and open the Cisco folder. 3. Open the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client folder. 4. Double click on the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client application. Enter the VPN Portal Address 1. Enter Your Credentials 1. Username - Enter your Tufts Username. 2. Password - Enter your Tufts Password. 3. Click OK. Once the connection is complete the AnyConnect icon will appear on your status bar indicating you now have a secure link to the Tufts network with full access to all Tufts network resources, such as P:, Q:, and R: drives and restricted Web pages. How Do I Map to a Tufts Network Drive on a Windows PC? Locate My Computer Go to Start > Computer or Start > My Computer. Map Network Drive The Computer window with all available drives will open. Click Map Network Drive. VPN - AnyConnect on Windows 11
Select Drive Letter 1. Click the drop down window next to Drive:. 2. Select an unused drive letter. You may select any drive letter, but if you want to match your Tufts drives, P: is the drive for a personal drive, Q: is the drive for a departmental share drive and R: is for a research drive. General formula for drive mapping. n The path to your P: drive will typically end with your Tufts Username (e.g. jsmith01). n The path to your Q: or R: drive will end with the name of your departmental share. n There should be no spaces in the path name and drive paths are case sensitive. The use of \\titan\xxxxxxxx will work when physically on the Tufts network, but you must use the fully qualified domain name of \\titan.tccs.tufts.edu\xxxxxxxx when connecting from a remote location. Therefore, the best practice is to always use \\titan.tccs.tufts.edu (smb://titan.tccs.tufts.edu on a Mac) when mapping your Tufts network drives. Note: Your new drive will remain as a Network Location even after you disconnect from AnyConnect, but clicking on it will result in an error message telling you that the network path was not found.
