Polcy Statement The Drectors of Chulmlegh Academy Trust beleve all Drectors brng an equally valued range of experences, sklls and qualtes to the Board and consder t essental that all new Drectors are well supported n takng up the mportant role of Drector and receve a comprehensve nducton programme. The process s seen as an nvestment whch ensures that the new Drectors are gven the necessary nformaton and support to help them to fulfl the role wth confdence and ultmately contrbute to the hgh standards and achevements of the Academy. We beleve that nducton s not a one-off event but a process that begns wth startng n the role of Drector and contnues through early stages of takng up the role through to a programme of Drector s Development and Learnng. Inducton Purpose The man purposes of Drector s nducton are to develop new Drectors understandng of: a. The effectve role of a Drector of Chulmlegh Academy b. How the Board of Drectors undertake ther dutes and responsbltes c. What an Academy s and what ts statutory responsbltes are d. The Schools wthn the Academy Inducton Outcomes By the end of the nducton perod new Drectors wll: a. have an understandng of the Academy s Vson and Ams b. know ther role and responsbltes as a Drector c. have bult professonal workng relatonshps wth other Drectors d. understand how the Board of Drectors works e. understand the sub-commttee structures and the terms of reference of dfferent commttees f. know and understand the roles and responsbltes of the Senor Leadershp Team of the Academy g. know the strengths and area for development for each school h. know the class organsaton of each school and each school s layout Management and Organsaton of Inducton for Drectors The Board of Drectors hold the accountablty for the effectve mplementaton, montorng and revew of ths polcy. The admnstraton assocated wth ths polcy s the responsblty of the Clerk to the Board of Drectors For each new Drector one experenced Drector wll act as mentor. The mentor wll offer support, nformaton and gudance whch ncludes: a. Orentaton nto the Board of Drectors b. An overvew of the Drector s role c. How the full Board of Drectors and commttee meetngs are conducted d. How to propose agenda tems
Drectors Development and Learnng The Board of Drectors consder that to acheve the Academy s Ams the role of the Drector s a key component wthn the overall staff and Drector team and therefore Drector effectveness s a fundamental element of the success of the Academy. On-gong Drector s development and learnng s vtal f Drectors are to fulfl ther role effectve by ensurng they are well-nformed, can contrbute strategcally and can respond approprately to change and development. Drectors experences, sklls and expertse make sgnfcant contrbutes to the abltes of the Academy and therefore Drectors, and the Academy as a whole, beneft from havng clarty about each Drector s ndvdual sklls and expertse and areas Drectors may beneft from learnng and development. v To support ths analyss a self-assessment knowledge, sklls and experence audt questonnare has been produced. v Inducton forms the foundaton of the on-gong learnng and development of Drectors and therefore each new Drector s asked to complete the audt questonnare and create an ndvdual learnng and development plan. Montorng and evaluaton The Personnel Commttee wll montor the mplementaton of the nducton programme The Personnel Commttee wll ensure that the nducton programme s evaluated as part of the nducton process for new Drectors, ncludng feedback from new Drectors Ths polcy wll be revewed every two years by the Personnel Commttee. Inducton Programme and Package An Inducton Programme for new Drectors has been devsed as outlned n Appendx 1. Wthn the Inducton Programme for new Drectors an Inducton Pack has been development and the contents of ths are outlned n Appendx 2.
