The tranng should also take nto account the need to consder human rghts and chld- and gender-senstve ssues and t should encourage cooperaton wth non-governmental organzatons, other relevant organzatons and other elements of cvl socety. Key prncples of tranng and capacty-buldng Capacty-buldng measures and tranng currcula should only be bult on a pror assessment of the stuaton. The approach should foster a clear understandng among stakeholders of gaps and areas for mprovement. Ths can only be acheved where stakeholders themselves are nvolved n the assessment and contrbute to the plannng of tranng. As far as possble, local or regonal organzatons should be gven prorty n capactybuldng or tranng efforts snce they are lkely to be more senstve to domestc needs. Internatonal actors should play a steadly declnng advsory role whle Government, law enforcement and cvl socety actors buld up ther capacty. The manual ncludes defntons of traffckng n human bengs and smugglng of mgrants, as well as general gudelnes on nvestgaton and prosecuton of cases related to traffckng n human bengs, wth a focus on cooperaton between ECOWAS member States. The manual was used as reference materal and n tranng actvtes under the project. Computer-based tranng s a form of e-learnng nvolvng tranng presented on nteractve CD-ROMs and lessons delvered va nteractve televson. In ths way, students who are located n remote areas throughout the world can learn practcal sklls at ther own pace. The tranng packages have been desgned to enable law enforcement offcals to enhance ther sklls, knowledge and awareness at ther own pace and n ther own language, usng state-of-the-art nteractve computer-based law enforcement tranng packages. Programmes are talored for domestc legal crcumstances, but also emphasze the regonal and global mpact of transnatonal organzed crme.

The tranng gude offers background nformaton on necessary tranng sklls and on how to develop an effectve tranng programme. It also contans a 10-sesson tranng course on chld-related traffckng, ncludng background on the ssue, defntons of both chldren and chld traffckng, legal contexts, protecton and assstance, roles of stakeholders and evaluaton. The tranng sessons are complete wth worksheet handouts, fact sheets and case studes.
