Camp Blue Haven Parent Information This document contains essential information for your camper. Please read very carefully before emailing for additional information.
Camp Blue Haven Camper Packet Section 1: Coming and Going Campers should attend the entire session. It is disruptive to cabin unity and the camping experience to come late or leave early. Notify us prior to your session if there are extenuating circumstances. Cancellations DON T BE A NO-SHOW. If you will not be attending, please notify the office as soon as possible so the next person on the wait list can be notified. Arrival at Camp Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday of your camp session; however, please do not arrive before 8:00 a.m. as our staff will not be ready to greet you. Campers need to be registered by 3:00 p.m. Please bring the requested documents. Arrival Day and Worship Registration will close temporarily for worship at 10:00. Visitors and campers are invited to join our worship in the barn at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served about 12:30 in the Dining Hall. Visitors are welcome to join us for lunch at $5 a plate. Lunch is free for campers and staff. Directions to Camp Use the access road on the east side of I-25 between Las Vegas and Romeroville. The first overpass south of Las Vegas (second overpass north of Romeroville) is marked by signs to Camp Blue Haven. Go west on Hwy 283 about 15 miles, following the signs to camp. Click the map image below to view it on Google. Departure from Camp Campers need to be picked up from camp no later than 9:00 a.m. on the final day of the session. On one-week sessions it is Saturday, on two-week sessions it is Friday. Delays disrupt preparations for the next session. Packing Guidelines Toiletries Chapstick Flashlight Blanket Twin Sheet set 1 pillow, 2 cases Sleeping bag (for sleep out) 1 small tarp (for sleep out) 2 towels Jacket Rain Jacket or Poncho 6 pair underwear & socks Jeans or capris (no shorts) T-shirts Worship or Banquet attire 2 pair closed-toes shoes (no sandals) Flip Flops for shower house Water bottle Camera (phone cameras not allowed) Bible, paper, pen Envelope and stamp for letter home Fishing Gear (optional) Dress up Costumes (optional) See Prohibited Items on following page All required documents. Camp Policies and Information Dress Code T-shirts and jeans are recommended for daily wear. Casual dress skirts and slacks are appropriate for Sunday morning and banquet, although a themerelated costume may be preferred for the banquet. Modesty and camp dress code must be observed on all occasions. A camper may be asked to change if their clothing is inappropriate. Dress code at CBH does NOT allow sandals (for safety reasons), tank-tops, tight or low-cut tops, shirts that show the midriff, skirts above the knee, sagging pants, shorts, or any clothing displaying un-christ-like designs, slogans, or images. Prohibited Items Tobacco (in any form), illegal drugs, alcohol, lighters, firearms, fireworks, knives (even pocket knives), or electric guitars are not allowed. In order to unplug and focus on Christ, all electronics music, gaming, video, and phones are forbidden. CELL PHONES ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED and will be locked up for the session. Medical Staff A medical professional (LVN, RN, MD, or Paramedic) is on duty 24 hours a day. Lunchtime Attire Every day during lunch, campers and staff are invited to dress up! See the special days sheet included in this packet. Please bring costumes to join the fun! Spending Money All money is deposited in the camper s Trading Post account. The account is debited as purchases are made. Remaining balances are returned to the camper at the end of each session. We recommend $50 for a 1-week session and $75 for a 2-week session. CBH is not responsible for money not deposited at the Trading Post. Daily Recreation Every camper will attend Bible classes, chapel, worship services, and devotionals. Optional recreation will include fishing, sports and games, nature hike, arts and crafts, air riflery and archery. Campers will participate in half-day hikes. Two-week campers will also participate on an all-day hike. All activities are supervised. Ropes Course We have an extensive ropes course facility, including a zip line and a giant swing, supervised by trained and licensed staff. Low ropes elements are used to focus on spiritual applications with their Bible class. Laundry Two-week campers will have a portion of their clothes washed for them halfway through the session at no cost. One-week campers will not be able to do laundry. Please DO NOT send any food in packages It attracts the wildlife to the cabins! Allow 4-5 days for letters to reach their destinations. Please Read! The process has changed. Section 2: Forms for Registration Day This year CBH has migrated to an on-line process for camper forms. Two weeks before your sessions starts you will be able to go to the Camp Blue Haven website and fill out the forms for your camper. Your camper's forms will not be available prior to two weeks before his or her camp session. INSTRUCTIONS: Reminder! 1. 2 Weeks before your camper's session go to the Camp Blue Haven website and follow the instructions on the website - http://signup.campbluehaven.com/camperform 2. Find your camper. 3. Fill out Form A - Camper Information Form 4. Fill out Form B - Medication Administration Record Form 5. Fill out Form C - Parent Authorization Form 6. Print the Form Confirmation Pages. 7. Sign the Form Confirmation Pages. 8. Bring the Form Confirmation Pages to Camp. DO NOT MAIL. In addition to the signed Form Confirmation Page, you must also bring: A. A copy of each camper s immunization form B. A copy of each camper s insurance card
