Camp Ravens Nest- Parent Information 2015 Camp Ravens Nest Parents, We would like to welcome back our returning families and extend warm greetings to the new families who are joining us for the first time this summer! We are so excited that you have chosen to enroll your child(ren) in Camp Ravens Nest this summer and we are looking forward to a fun filled summer camp experience with them. There is some very important information in this document, so please read through everything thoroughly in order in ensure a smooth and successful summer at Camp Ravens Nest. The mission of Camp Ravens Nest is to provide a safe and fun environment for our campers. That way, campers can focus on fostering new friendships and enjoying the exciting activities and adventures in store for them this summer. Thank you, Leana Stewart Sonja Fenner Co-Directors Camp Ravens Nest 2015 1. Pick Up/Drop Off Procedure As you enter Ravenscroft's campus there will be large signs directing you to Camp Ravens Nest. Please be aware that there are many different camps taking place on campus and it is imperative that you bring your child/children to the proper meeting area for Camp Ravens Nest. Please park in Parking Lot E (you can find it on the campus map that was attached to the confirmation email you received after completing the online registration for the camp) and walk your child/children in each day. Upon arriving at Ravens Nest, you MUST sign your child/children in on the proper clipboard (see information below regarding the grouping of campers) and write any pertinent information that staff need to know regarding your child for that day. This includes any additional camps that your child/children are registered for at Ravenscroft, as well as any allergies that they may have. When you pick up your child/children, please present your PICTURE ID to a staff member and sign out before departing. Your first and last name (not initials) and the time of day must be entered on the clipboard each time you drop off and pick up your child.

**Additionally, if someone else will be picking up your child that day or you will be picking up your child early, we ask that you enter that information in the "Notes" section of the clipboard during morning drop off.** All campers will be in the Richards Hall Annex from 5:00-6:00pm for pick up. If you need to pick your child up early, you may come to the Ravens Nest Office and your child will brought to you. Once again, prior notification will streamline this process, because counselors will be notified in advance that your child is leaving early. From 12:00-1:00pm all campers and staff are in the A.E. Finley Center Pool, from 1:00-2:00pm all campers and staff are in the Dining Hall. If you pick up your child from one of these locations please make sure that you sign them out before departure from campus. 2. Camp Groups Camp Ravens Nest is divided into three separate age groups throughout the summer. They are the Yellow Ducks (Rising K-1st Grade), the Blue Dolphins (Rising 2nd-3rd Grade), and the Red Dragons (Rising 4th-6th Grade). These will be the groups that campers will conduct most of their daily activities with; however, there will be time for interactive play throughout the three groups. 3. Examples of Weekly Themes Camp Ravens Nest will continue with the tradition of weekly/daily themes again this year. Themes in the past have included follows: - Animal Planet Mondays (Food, Arts & Crafts) - Camp Ravens Nest Got Talent Tuesdays (Crafts & Activities) - Time Travelers Wednesday - Culture Around the World (Foods, Arts, & Crafts) - Teamwork Thursdays (Sports) - Splish-Splash Friday (Water Activities & Games) 4. Field Trips Most weeks we will take our campers on field trips, or have a special "in house" event. In the past, field trips have included going bowling, roller skating, to the IMAX movie theater or to Monkey Joes. Additional details about weekly field trips/events are provided to parents at the beginning of each week. Please check the dry erase board each Monday for field trip information. Special events and field trips are generally taken in the morning, departing from campus around 9:00am. Your camper will receive a Camp Ravens Nest t-shirt on the day of the off-campus field trip to ensure that they are easily identifiable.

5. Snacks As part of the camp fee your child is served lunch and two nutritious snacks daily. As a result, campers are asked NOT to bring food to Camp Ravens Nest. We do encourage campers to bring a water bottle so that they can stay hydrated throughout the day. Please Note: The monthly lunch menu will be distributed via email to the address you provided during registration. 6. What to Bring to Camp Campers are to wear closed toe shoes (sneakers or crocs) each day, NO FLIP FLOPS PLEASE! Campers are to bring a bathing suit, towel, and goggles in a swimming bag every day. Please put your child's name on each item. These items will be brought home daily to dry. You may also pack water shoes for your child to wear, as some find the pool bottom bumpy and irritating to sensitive toes. Please pack an extra set of clothes at the beginning of each week. Please label each piece of clothing and place in a labeled plastic bag. After arrival on Mondays the bag will be stored in the child's personal locker for easy access. These will be kept on hand for emergencies throughout the week. If your child is in the Yellow Duck Group (Rising K-1st Grade) a labeled double flat sheet will be needed for personal quiet/rest time. The sheet will need to be brought home each Friday for washing. Your child may also bring one favorite stuffed animal for rest time. Please do not have children bring other toys or electronics from home. If your child brings a cell phone with them to camp, they will need to keep it off and stowed in their locker. If they need to call you, we have phones in the building for their use. We cannot be responsible for lost or damaged personal items. 7. Camp Rules and Procedures Parents must accompany their child/children to and from camp, remembering to sign them out. Please remember that PICTURE IDs are required at pick up. Campers should be walked into the Camp Ravens Nest building no earlier than 7:00 am and need to be picked up no later than 6:00 pm. In order to ensure that campers are being picked up in a timely fashion, a late fee of $1.00 per minute will be assessed for any child/children picked up after 6:00 pm. If you arrive after 9:00am or pick your child up before 5:00 pm, you may need to walk to the appropriate activity location. Please refer to the daily schedule below to determine that location or ask a Ravens Nest staff member where your child s group is at that time.

8. Discipline Policy: Camp Ravens Nest generally adheres to the same rules and policies for child behavior that the Ravenscroft Lower School follows during the school year. Consequences for Violation of Camp Rules: 1. Verbal Warning 2. Time Out or Removal from the Activity (Age Specific) 3. Child is sent to Camp Director's Office to notify parent of the problem behavior. When a Camper is sent to the Camp Director's Office: 1st Time- Call Home 2nd Time- 1 Day Suspension from Camp 3rd Time- Expulsion from Camp **REPEATED OR SERIOUS VIOLATIONS OF CAMP RULES MAY RESULT IN DISMISSAL FROM CAMP** Clear and effective communication between staff, campers and parents will help to ensure that your child/children will enjoy the best camp experience possible. Please feel free to talk with us about any needs or concerns you may have regarding your child or camp procedures during the duration of Camp Ravens Nest.
