Registration deadline for students who would like to access transportation is 5/20/15. No registrations that include transportation will be accepted after this date. Information regarding your child s bus number and location of drop-off and pick-up will be sent to your home by the NCUSD 203 Transportation Department. There is also a place on the lanyard card for BUS number and BUS stop. It is your responsibility to write in this information on your child s lanyard card as the District 203 Transportation Department will be mailing the bus number, bus stop location, and time of arrival to your home. The lanyard card will be mailed to you along with a protective plastic cover. You are responsible for attaching a lanyard to your child s information card. You are welcome to purchase an actual lanyard, or just use a piece of string, yarn, or ribbon to attach your child s information card. WE ARE COUNTNG ON YOUR CHILD ARRIVING EACH DAY WEARING THEIR LANYARD. There is an after school CAMP being offered at both the NORTH (Beebe Elementary School) and the SOUTH (Meadow Glens Elementary School) locations directly after summer school. The Naperville Park District is offering a SUMMER SCHOOL CAMP. If you would like to register your child for this after school camp, please contact the Naperville Park District for more details. Direct link to the SUMMER SCHOOL CAMP is: You may also register your child by calling: YOU MUST ACTUALLY CONTACT THE NAPERVILLE PARK DISTRICT TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD FOR THE CAMP AFTER INDICATING YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO ATTEND THE CAMP ON THE ELECTRONIC APPLICATION FORM FOR SUMMER SCHOOL. The following information would apply to any parent or guardian that is dropping-off or picking-up their child. The same procedure will be followed at both the NORTH LOCATION: Beebe Elementary School and the SOUTH LOCATION: Meadow Glens Elementary School.
3 The drop-off and pick-up procedures were developed in conjunction with the Naperville Police Department: The drop-off and pick-up zone for Meadow Glens is located along the driveway directly in front of the school. The parent drop-off and pick-up zone for Beebe is located on 11 th Street on the south side of the building along the sidewalk. Pull up to the farthest possible point along the drop off zone to drop-off or pick-up your child. When you arrive at the drop-off or pick-up zone, have a piece of paper clearly displayed on your dashboard with your child s assigned CAR NUMBER written on it. You will find your child s assigned car number on their lanyard card. DO NOT leave your vehicle to walk your child in. Keep in mind that your child WILL NOT be allowed to walk-off of school grounds to go and find your vehicle at dismissal. At dismissal you must get in the vehicle pick-up line. Immediately after being dropped-off, your child will be escorted into the building where he/she will be greeted by their classroom teacher. Do all students who are registered for Elementary Summer School courses receive an assigned CAR NUMBER? Yes, all of the summer school students have been assigned a car number, whether or not they ride the bus. The reason for this is that there may come a day when you will need to drop-off or pick-up your child. If you are sending more than one child to summer school, you will see that all family members have the same car number. If you are dropping-off or picking-up children that are not in your family, be sure to find out their assigned car number which has been written on their lanyard card, and display that number on your dashboard as well. It is very important to have your child s car number visibly displayed on your dashboard daily, as this is how we will be expediting their arrival and departure. What time should I arrive if my child is attending Session 1? Suggestion: Arrive at 8:15 a.m. each morning, as it will take time to get everyone through the drop-off zone located at the front of the school (Meadow Glens) and back of school (Beebe). If my child is attending a Session 1 course only, what time should I arrive to pick-up my child? Arrive at 9:50 a.m. each morning. What time should I arrive if my child is attending Session 2 only? Arrive at 10:15 a.m. each morning. When Session 2 concludes, what time should I arrive to pick-up my child? Arrive at 11:50 a.m. each morning. If my child is attending Session 1 and Session 2, what time should I pick-up my child? Arrive at 11:50 a.m. each morning.
4 If my child is attending both sessions, what will he/she be doing for the 30 minutes between sessions? Restroom break Snack Snacks will be provided by Aramark for all students. *The summer school staff will be supervising this time period. What if we are running late and arrive after the teachers have gone to their classroom? Enter the building through door number 1. Our staff will be there to greet you and your child. You will sign your child in, and we will complete a late arrival slip for your child s classroom teacher letting him/her know that you have checked in with our staff. Remember, your child should arrive wearing their LANYARD. What if I need to pick my child up earlier than the regular dismissal time? Call ahead ( ) and we will be happy to have your child ready to go. When you walk in, your child will be waiting for you in the main office. What if my child is going to be absent? Call and let us know your child s first and last name and reason for the absence. What if I have a health concern regarding my child? There is an area on the registration documents that you can explain the health concerns that you have for your child. This information will be communicated to the Health Technician that will be working with our staff for summer school. What should my child bring in their backpack the first day of Summer School? Requested supplies (see below)
5 What school supplies should be in my child s backpack? Kindergarten: 2 pencils 1 eraser 1 eight pack of crayons 1 scissor 1 glue stick 1 folder First Grade: 2 pencils 1 eraser 1 eight pack of crayons 1 scissor 1 glue stick 1 folder 1 spiral notebook, wide ruled 70 count Second, Third, and Fourth Grade: 2 pencils 1 eraser 1 eight pack of crayons or colored pencils your choice 1 scissor 1 glue stick 1 folder 1 spiral notebook, wide ruled 70 ct. 1 black pen 1 red pen First, Second,Third and Fourth Grade Writers 1 spiral notebook, wide ruled 70 ct. 1 folder 1 package of 3X5 Post-it notes, yellow 2 pencils 1 red pen 1 green pen PLEASE NOTE: The dry erase boards and markers are an exception. 6 How can I communicate with my child s teacher? Your child s teacher will be sending home a first day communication piece letting you know how the day went, as well as any pertinent information you would need to know in regards to contacting them. You can also expect a weekly newsletter. It is absolutely imperative that you follow the daily protocol that we have communicated in The 2016 Elementary Summer School Scoop. I m sure that you would agree SAFETY FIRST, and we are confident that our drop-off and pick-up system will be successful as long as we work together to be patient and respectful of the directions that have been given. Be sure to have your child s CAR NUMBER clearly displayed on your dashboard for both drop-off and pick-up. It is also essential that your child comes to school each day wearing his/her LANYARD, as the information card has your child s car number, bus number, and after school CAMP information, if that applies to your child. If you still have any unanswered questions, please contact us at: We are looking forward to an academically rewarding summer school experience for all of our young learners!
