Course Catalog Dear Parents: Welcome to the Rosa Lee Carter Elementary After School Activities Program! Attached is a list of courses that will be offered in Fall. Registration will take place ONLINE ONLY beginning @ 12:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 25. This means you will have to stay up late Monday. Go to www.pay4schoolstuffonline.com (also available by selecting the PTO link from the Rosa Lee Carter homepage); after creating an account and adding your student s name click the SELECT button next to your child s name and select Special Events. All classes will begin the week of October 8 except for the Monday classes, Math Olympiad which will begin on October 23 and Mad Science which will begin in the week of October 15. Each activity will take place once per week. Refer to the course description for specific dates. All activities will be held from 2:50 PM to 3:50 PM. Also the CML class does not start until January but you would have to register for it now as the instructor has to register the team for the competitions. NOTE: Children MUST be signed out by a parent or other approved adult. In order to facilitate this process, it will be necessary for parents to rotate the monitoring of sign out responsibilities from week to week. This should take no more than 10-15 minutes of your time, once during the 6, 8 or 10 week session. The coordinator for your child s activity will work with you to schedule your day to handle sign out. VERY IMPORTANT please read through, COMPLETELY, the ASA Program Guidelines on the RLC website. The guidelines are there to make sure our ASA Programs run successfully, and will be adhered to strictly. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please email: After School Activities coordinator: Geetha Ambarish at geet72@yahoo.com PTO President: Anitha Radhakrishnan at anitharlcpto@gmail.com All emails will be answered after 3:00 PM EST. Please be patient and do not send multiple emails with the same questions. PLEASE NOTE: The Rosa Lee Carter PTO After School Activities Program is not sponsored or endorsed by Rosa Lee Carter Elementary or Loudoun County Public Schools. The ASA program is organized and run by Rosa Lee Carter PTO. 2

Registration Guidelines Registration will be held, ONLINE ONLY @ www.pay4schoolstuffonline.com. All classes will be filled on a First-Come, First-Served basis. Please register your child(ren) for One Class only. Due to the growing number of RLC students this is the only way to fairly give each child a chance to enroll in a class of their choosing If you are interested in enrolling your child in a second class, please email geet72@yahoo.com no later than September 30. We will then reply and let you know if there are any available spaces. If you choose to register for a class, please follow these Instructions: 1. Choose ONE class per child. After paying online and receiving a confirmation you must fill out the student information form at the end of this catalog and send in with your child to school as soon as possible. This form contains your child s name, teacher and other pertinent information. No refunds will be issued, unless class is canceled completely at beginning of session due to lack of enrollment. We need volunteers!!! One parent liaison per activity day is required to remain in school from 2:30 until each child has been signed out or taken to CASA. This person will handle the attendance and take care of any issues that may arise during class. In exchange for this service the parent will receive free tuition for their child in the activity of their choosing. If you are interested please email geet72@yahoo.com and she will send you a more detailed description of duties. 3

After School Activities Program Guidelines Refunds There are no refunds, so choose classes carefully. Getting to the Activity PTO Liaison (see list under PTO Liaison ) will escort kindergarten students to their activity, after all other students have been dismissed. First through fifth graders will be expected to know the location of their activity and to proceed to their assigned location upon school dismissal. Teachers are not required to remind them of their activity. Class Dismissal Procedures An authorized adult/parent must sign each child out of his/her class. Your child will only be released to a person listed on the Registration Form. If someone other than a parent or previously authorized person is picking up the child, the child must provide the instructor with a written note signed by the parent. Late Pick Up Policy Children must be picked up PROMPTLY when activities end. There is a 5-minute grace period. Time will be gauged by the sign out parent. It is advised that you arrive to pick your child up at least 10 minutes before the session is scheduled to end. After the 5-minute grace period, you will be charged $10 for the first 5 minutes or any part thereof that you are late. After that, you will be charged a late fee of $5 for every 5 minutes or portion thereof. Failure to pay the late pickup fee immediately (before your child s next ASA class) will mean the dismissal of your child from the program for the remainder of the session and no refund will be given. After the third late pick up, the child will be dismissed from the program and no refund will be given. Participant Behavior In the event a child causes a disruption that the teacher feels is inappropriate, the parent will be notified immediately. Should a parent need to be contacted a second time, the child may be dismissed from the program for the remainder of the session and no refund will be given. 4

Health Concerns Please keep cell phones on while your child is participating in the After School Activities Program. CASA During ASA the school clinic is closed.
