1 Summer School Accelerated Courses Summer School accelerated courses are offered through a partnership with BSD Online to serve students wanting to increase their level of coursework in a content area beyond what they could accomplish within a standard 4- year high school schedule. These courses provide the same breadth, depth and rigor as their classroom counterparts but in a highly accelerated summer format. They demand proven ability and knowledge in the subject, discipline and time management. Students successfully completing these courses will gain the skills, knowledge and experience needed for success in the next course in the sequence. BSD Online curriculum allows students a chance to work from anywhere, anytime. There are interactive lessons, printable study and practice assignments and quizzes with instant feedback. This blended online and physical classroom model provides the needed supports to finish an entire year of curriculum in the short timeframe. Audience Any BSD incoming 9th or 10 th grader who has a plan for an additional year of the subject. Upperclassmen are considered on a case-by-case basis Prerequisites Proven track record of success in the subject - A s in prior coursework and strong standardized test scores Highly organized, persistent and disciplined. Proven attendance record. Counselor recommendation and approval required Credits and Grading Accelerated courses receive 1.0 credit (full year) and the marks earned will be placed on the student s permanent transcript. BSD Online courses are graded A, B, C, F. There are no D grades awarded. Students who fail the course may retake the class during the school year for grade replacement. Summer School Enrichment Courses Summer School enrichment courses are offered to help supplement current school coursework. SRHS Enrichment courses are two weeks long.
