3. Hinterland Rotterdam Feeder/deep sea Improve and expand feeder connections Central/East-Europe Rail connections to Central- and East Europe Direct hinterland Strengthen position ECT Rotterdam

3. Hinterland Rotterdam Venlo - Rail Venlo - Barge Duisburg Willebroek Moerdijk

Market 265,000 inhabitants 14% employ in logistics 4. Venlo logistics hub Warehousing 1,5 million square meters distribution centres 300 ha / 740 acres large logistics sites availability Sustainable tri-modality Up to 40 sustainable trimodal services into Europe barge terminals and rail terminals Cross-roads for 12 million trucks annual on E-W and N-S main transport routes 30 percent share of inland container via barge and rail

4. Venlo logistics hub Venlo

4. Venlo logistics hub Railport Venlo: hub for contionental and maritime cargo

4. Venlo logistics hub Strengthen the maritime connection to (deep) sea ports (Rotterdam, Antwerp, Zeebrugge etc.) by connecting to existing networks ( f.e. ECT s European Gateway Services Network) Expand logistics hub function for continental cargo by connecting Venlo to existing networks (f.e. Kombiverkehr, Hupac) Conditions: Public facility, State of the art terminal Double the rail connection to Germany In cooperation with existing facilities

5. Supply Chain Trends A change is necessary, to be able to handle cargo flows to and from the hinterland sustainable and efficient now and in the future. Logistics nowadays is very inefficient: Too much road transportation Low utilization A lot of relatively small cargo flows Not enough information exchange OUR FUTURE? Advanced logistics has to be based on: High frequent, fast, efficient and sustainable connections All modes of transport on each corridor

6. Synchromodality

6. Synchromodality Synchromodality: making optimal use of all modes of transport and available capacity, at all times, as an integrated transport solution. Key aspects: Mode free booking Dynamic planning and routing Switching modes of transport in real time Information availability and visibility Decision making based on network utilization Combining transport flows Cooperation

6. Synchromodality (video)

7. European Gateway Services ECT develops a synchromodal inland network and bundles containers on the main corridors from and to its deep sea terminals ECT develops additional services to support the supply chain European Gateway Services, partner in the supply chain for: 4a. Intermodal Inland Connections 4b. ECT Extended Gate Services 4c. Inland Network Connections

7a. Intermodal Connections Daily and dedicated barge and rail connections by EGS and partners Scheduled, planned, operated on both sides of the inland supply chain ECT Straatsburg Stuttgart Basel Nürnberg Regensburg Munchen

7b. ECT Extended Gate Inland terminal becomes a gate for the deep sea terminal Internal transport between deep sea terminals and inland terminals

7b. ECT Extended Gate Building blocks Emission Visibility Security Supports reduction of CO 2 emission Track & trace as part of EGS webservices Integrated secure lane (ISPS level) Customs Logistics Document free chain (paperless) Scheduling, planning, transport
