The first annual Hamptons YogaFest will take place Friday, September 18th - Sunday, 20th September, 2015 at Hayground School (151 Mitchell Ln, Bridgehampton, NY 11932), providing world class yoga programming with stunning natural backdrop of the Hamptons at the turn of the season. Participants can choose from a diverse program of yoga workshops, interactive musical concerts, natural healing therapies, nourishing local food, and talks on sustainable lifestyle. With over 30 years of yoga teaching experience between them, Hamptons YogaFest founders Jenna Walter and Alex Grant have partnered to bring this 3 day festival to the East End, the epicenter of an evolving yogic culture. Both Jenna and Alex have extensive experience in leading yoga retreats and have been involved in the founding of numerous yoga events around the globe. It was their collective vision and dream to bring a yogic celebration to The Hamptons - a place to which they are both deeply connected. We are so excited to unite people through their love of yoga and spirit while celebrating the abundance of the Hamptons, says Jenna Walter. Not only are we able to honor this incredible local yoga community, but we have access to fresh produce from organic farms, the best in natural therapies, and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world - all things we wish to share with YogaFest participants.
The Practice Hamptons YogaFest will bring together a group of locally and internationally renowned yoga teachers. Sessions in Anusara, Ashtanga, Ishta, Iyengar, Restorative and Vinyasa Flow will be held throughout the weekend-long roster of workshops. A number of New York and locally-based studios have already confirmed their participation including Yoga Shanti (Sag Harbor), Mandala Yoga (Amagansett), KamaDeva Yoga (East Hampton), One Ocean Yoga (Bridgehampton), Laughing Lotus (NYC), and Ishta Yoga School (NYC). Wellness Options A pop-up Healing Village will offer a range of natural therapies including various form of massage, Acupuncture, Reiki and Shamanic Healing, providing YogaFest participants the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate in between practice. Open to the public, the Healing Village will feature leading therapists from across the Hamptons and New York City (such as Naturopathica in East Hampton), providing a variety of healing modalities to the local community. The Green Market A Vendor s Village includes a selection of organic local food stalls that will serve a fresh mix of raw and organic foods, featuring local produce from Hayground School as well as organic farms through the Long Island region. Herbs, oils, cold-pressed juices and other local goods will also be available for purchase. Artisanal retail stalls will provide various crafted goods for purchase, including handmade clothing, art and jewelry. Get Down, Get On Up Each evening, musical concerts will be open to the public, and will feature local and international artists, featuring sacred and world music including performances by inspiring acts including Dan Bailey Tribe and Samuel J. Go Outside and Play The Festival s programming will provide opportunities to explore the setting by including activities such as led nature walks and trail hikes as well as stand-up paddleboarding on the bay. THE FOUNDERS Jenna Walter With over 18 years of yoga instruction experience, Jenna Walter is a well respected Integral Yoga teacher and healer, leading workshops globally (Costa Rica, Thailand, Spain, Peru, etc.). In order to further develop her personal and professional practice, she has immersed herself in the study of complementary healing modalities including Shiatsu massage at the Ohashi Institute; shamanism with Alberto Villoldos The Four Winds Society; herbology with Arcus Flynn; nutrition and quantum energy with Karen Panish; and Siddha Yoga chanting and meditation. A mother of three based in East Hampton, Jenna is deeply committed to her community and local yoga schools. She helped create and teach an Integrated Wellness Program at the Springs School that brings yoga, meditation, nutrition and life skills to several hundred elementary school-age students. Jenna currently teaches at Kama Deva Yoga (East Hampton) and Mandala Yoga (Amagansett), as well as international retreats. Alex Grant Native New Yorker Alex Grant began his love affair with yoga in 1996 and has since become a qualified yoga teacher and promoter, specializing in hatha, pranayama, tantra and meditation. Alex received his BA in Economics from Emory University in 94, and later obtained a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Sydney s University of Technology. Alex moved his family to Australia in 2002 and currently resides with his two daughters in Byron Bay, New South Wales. He developed findyoga.com.au in 2003, which has grown into Australia s largest yoga portal -- connecting networks of yogis by providing a comprehensive directory of 2,000+ studios, teachers, events and yoga classes domestically and internationally. Alex started community acupuncture in 2009 as a way to bring affordable healthcare to people in need; this program currently treats over 100 people per week. In 2011, he founded the Byron Spirit Festival, which has evolved into the preeminent yoga and music festival in Australia. Alex currently teaches privately and leads practice at iconic annual festivals such as Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival (Australia), and Burning Man (USA). He is also passionate about Spirit Journey, leading pilgrims to Ladakh, India for self discovery.
