Foundation Degree in Computer Aided Engineering Opening September 2016! State-of-the-art Science & Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) Runshaw College s new multi-million pound Science & Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) is due for completion in September 2016. Hosting cutting edge laboratories and workshops, the new state-ofthe-art building is located at the College s Euxton Lane Campus in Chorley and will be home to the College s Science and Engineering Degree and HNC/ HND students. The centre has been made a reality through funding from the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) who play a crucial role in maximising job creation and economic growth in the county. Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) is one of the strongest growing fields and underpins design and analysis in all engineering disciplines. Our CAE Career Degree has been designed to develop the expertise sought after by local and national employers. Through the delivery of theoretical knowledge and practical experience you will develop an in-depth understanding of the application of computer technology to the engineering process. Course Content Year 1 Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering Analysis Drawing & CAD Introduction to Mechanics Manufacturing Engineering Communications Year 2 Manufacturing Technology Computer Aided Design Engineering Design Operations Management Structured Programming in C++ Work Based Study Duration Full time (2 days per week) over 2 years at Runshaw s Euxton Lane Campus in Chorley. If you wish to progress to an alternative university, you are strongly advised to research the entry qualifications required for your chosen course prior to enrolling at Runshaw College.

Profile Dave Gornall After successfully completing a BTEC National Diploma in Engineering at Runshaw Sixth Form College, Dave continued his studies at Runshaw by enrolling on the Foundation Degree in Computer Aided Engineering. He graduated with a Distinction and topped up his qualification to a full BEng (Hons) in Computer Aided Engineering at UCLan. Dave is now working as a CMM Technician, subcontracted to an Aerospace company. I decided to stay at Runshaw to study the Foundation Degree as I knew the tutors and had really enjoyed my previous course. I was also unsure about moving away and wanted to keep the same lifestyle, a job I enjoyed and also have the opportunity to live in UCLan s student accommodation. I really benefited from the small class sizes at Runshaw, and the one-to-one tutor support. The resources were also excellent, as were the additional activities available, such as the group team building trip. Moving on... Runshaw is committed to providing you with an outstanding opportunity to go from a fully supported undergraduate, to an independent, critical thinking, and objective individual when you leave us. To achieve this, we go the extra mile to support you in progressing to higher level studies or employment. Our students progress to a wide range of careers and further fields of study. Below are the destinations of just a few of our recent graduates. Jonathan Ambrose Nuclear Mechanical Designer at JF Nuclear, Leyland. Jack Bytheway Engineering Technician at TRM Ltd, Burscough. Calum Sayer Design Engineer at Glen Dimplex, Liverpool. 100%of our students are in work or further study six months after graduating from Runshaw.

Entry Requirements 200 UCAS points which must include an Engineering, Maths, Physics, Computing or Electronics related subject, plus GCSE Maths, English and Science at grade A* - C. Successful completion of a BSc (Hons) in Engineering (Foundation Year Entry) will also be accepted as entry to these courses. You may also qualify for these courses if you have other qualifications or relevant life or work experience.
