2 Welcome to Nottingham Trent University Hello I am Peter Lyons My Lecture Areas are Construction Technology and Professional Skills My Research is in Learning Styles I am also Course Leader for the Construction Management Course

3 The School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment Subject areas within the School: Designed Environment Construction Management Property Management and Development Product Design School population: 2,000 approx. Construction Management students: 700 approx.

4 Construction Management Courses within the Construction Management subject area include: BSc (Hons) Construction Management BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying & Construction Commercial Management All of these courses can be studied full-time, sandwich or part-time.

7 BSc (Hons) Construction Management BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying Course length: 3 yrs full-time, 4 yrs with a placement, or 5 yrs parttime Course code: K200 BSc/CM K220 BSc/CPM K241 BSc/QS Study location: City site Accreditation: Chartered Institute of Building Entry requirements: A minimum of 240 UCAS tariff points achieved from at least two full A-levels or equivalent qualification 3 C s GCSE English grade C or above, or equivalent qualification GCSE Maths grade C or above, or equivalent qualification

8 BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying & Construction Commercial Management Course length: 3 yrs full-time, 4 yrs with a placement, or 5 yrs part-time Course code: K240 BSc/QSCCM Study location: City site Accreditation: Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Entry requirements: A minimum of 280 UCAS tariff points achieved from at least two full A-levels or equivalent qualification B,B,C GCSE English grade C or above, or equivalent qualification GCSE Maths grade C or above, or equivalent qualification.

9 Teaching and learning The course consists of four themes: Technology Management The (business) environment Specialism Subject areas are called modules which are worth: 20 or 40 credit points each Assessment: modules are assessed using a variety of methods.

15 Industrial placement year All courses within this subject area offer students the opportunity to take a full-time, salaried year-long work placement. On placement with Venn and Milford, South Africa The School s dedicated Placement Office provides assistance for students seeking a placement, as well as support throughout their placement year. Completion of a placement year will lead to the award of a Diploma in Professional Practice. Students do not have to pay fees during the placement year. On placement with Morgan Sindall
