Visit to the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) The benefits additional sports qualifications (at no extra cost) to ensure you are well qualified and employable when you graduate. These are offered in conjunction with the County Sports Partnership. a 45 day work placement as part of the Sports Coaching Foundation Degree, and a work placement module as part of the Sport & Exercise Science Foundation Degree. These aim to provide you with practical learning opportunities within the sports and leisure industry, setting you ahead of the game when you graduate. You will be responsible for any travel costs associated with your work placement and if working in a school or similar setting with children or vulnerable adults, will have to pay the cost of a Disclosure & Baring Services (DBS) check at a cost of 44 (price correct at September 2015). study visits to enhance your knowledge and bring learning to life. You will have the opportunity to join an overseas study tour, for example to Barcelona, which will be partly subsidised by Runshaw College. You will also participate in up to 3 local/regional trips each year, such as visits to FX Leisure (Leyland) and the Jump Nation Trampoline Centre (Manchester). There will be no fees associated with local/regional visits, but you may be expected to meet at a local venue rather than College and will be responsible for any personal spending money. 6 Profile Bevan Taylor After completing his studies at Runshaw Sixth Form, Bevan decided to progress to university. Wishing to stay in a wellsupported and familiar environment, he chose to remain at Runshaw and enrolled on to a university course offered in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). My experience was outstanding! The support was exceptional, learning well-structured and students were inspired to achieve their full potential. The range of exciting enrichment activities - such as a trip to FX Leisure and go-karting - allowed us to have fun and relax with classmates outside the educational environment, while learning about the sporting world. The class sizes added to the student focused approach, allowing tutors to provide more interactive teaching and individual support. One-to-one sessions enabled us to monitor our progress and assess our achievements. I couldn t fault my time at Runshaw and looking back, I can t think of one moment I didn t enjoy. The passionate teaching staff, excellent support and friendly class atmosphere created an outstanding and enjoyable learning environment. Moving on...
