JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Department Grade Location Responsible to Responsible for Digital Marketing Assistant Marketing B Marketing, Barbican Centre Digital Marketing Executive N/A The Marketing Department, within the Audiences and Development Division of the Barbican Centre, leads the marketing strategy for an inspiring programme of world-class artistic events and creative learning activities across all major artforms (art, theatre, dance, music and cinema), and commercial activities including superb conferencing, catering and retail facilities. In positioning the Barbican Centre as the model for tomorrow s arts and learning centre, the marketing department is responsible for maintaining and growing the Centre s reputation as a cultural hub and for developing audiences for the diverse mix of programming we present. This is done through a dynamic mix of audience insight, brand development, customer relationship management and the creation and implementation of integrated and intelligent marketing campaigns. PURPOSE OF POST Assist in the creation, editing and scheduling of all marketing communications across our online platforms, including website, email, social and blog. MAIN DUTIES Social 1. Administer the Barbican s social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube etc.), including scheduling posts for evenings and weekends 2. Answer customer comments, queries and complaints with timely and appropriate responses. 3. Write compelling communications about all Barbican activity and the wider cultural sector. 4. Work with artform marketing teams to help them promote their events programme. 5. Act as point of contact between the artform teams and our media buyer to ensure all paid social activity is booked in efficiently and effectively.
6. Work with other Barbican departments (Creative Learning, Development, Business Events, Commercial, BIE, etc) to ensure that their messages are delivered in interesting and relevant ways to our audiences. 7. Notify the Media Relations team to keep them abreast of any developing issues. 8. Maintain awareness of activity of other arts venues and keep up to date with latest trends and emerging platforms. 9. Research potential for innovative uses of social networks and work with the Digital Marketing Manager and Digital Marketing Executive to devise a strategy for the Barbican s social platforms. 10. Compile monthly analytics reports for the Digital Marketing Executive of social network performance and in-depth reports on key events via hashtag tracking, including qualitative analysis for ongoing best practice. 11. Create and provide draft content for the social screen in the foyers with interesting social content from our audiences. 12. Research and present social findings and developments to the wider marketing team when appropriate. Email marketing 13. Co-ordinate the email marketing schedule and delivery of all Barbican art form emails using the email delivery software. 14. Assist other departments (Creative Learning, Development, Business Events, Commercial, BIE, Media Relations, etc) in the creation, editing and/or scheduling of their emails as needed, and recommend improvements. 15. Assist the Digital Marketing Executive with producing email results and analysis and recommend improvements to best practice based on findings. 16. With the guidance of the Digital Marketing Manager and Direct Marketing Manager, assist with developing email programs to automate responses e.g. welcome campaigns, inactive campaigns. 17. Meet with artform campaign teams to devise ongoing strategy for targeted, sustained e- communications. 18. Present email evaluations to the wider marketing team when appropriate. 19. Administer Barbican email signatures and update weekly to ensure that all art forms are reflected. Young Barbican 20. Administer the Young Barbican Facebook page, including setting up paid advertising campaigns. 21. Write, schedule and send the monthly Young Barbican emails.
22. Assist the Marketing Executive (Audience Development and Learning) with the implementation of digital marketing campaigns to acquire new members and promote Young Barbican events. Website and search 23. Monitor web copy to ensure that it maintains best practice and alert art form marketing teams to necessary changes. 24. Administer the monthly web audit and ensure that all issues raised are fixed, as well as conducting audit for generic pages. 25. Ensure home page is profiling key and timely events. 26. Administer the Barbican s paid and charitable Google AdWords. Image Production 27. Liaise with various departments in the Barbican to understand image requirements and source images as required according to agreed delivery schedules. 28. Edit images for web and other media use including emails, using Photoshop, Illustrator and other programmes where appropriate. 29. Provide image re-sizing support for departments across the Barbican. Content 30. Upload and edit content for the Barbican blog. 31. Support the Digital Marketing Executive in the creation of key pieces of content. 32. Compile monthly reports in on content and platform performance. General Other 33. Raise purchase orders for the Digital team and assist with solving discrepancies across the various budgets. 34. Research and maintain awareness of activity of other arts venues and assist with e-marketing requests where appropriate. 35.
