Letter from the Directors The Western Carolina University College of Health Sciences and Department of Campus Recreation & Wellness are proud to announce the sixth annual Valley of the Lilies Half Marathon & 5K will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016. We hope to continue increased involvement from the community in this year s race in order to give local businesses great exposure while enhancing each participant s experience. The Valley of the Lilies event has the unique benefit of continued support from the University. This allows us an opportunity to enhance the fitness and wellness of the campus and surrounding community, while also increasing opportunities for students to grow in their professional development. Proceeds from the event support student professional development and travel. These funds give students the opportunities to attend workshops, conferences, and seminars in various academic fields to help them grow professionally by interacting with students and professionals in Cullowhee, and beyond. The information in this booklet will give your organization an idea of the sponsorship opportunities available, as well as the benefits your organization can receive by becoming a sponsor for the Valley of the Lilies Half Marathon & 5K. Thank you for a fun race! LOVE the beer mug at the finish line! It was so much fun! I can t wait to do it again! I thought the race was very well set up and that the volunteers did a great job helping out! I felt supported during my entire run! Very well run race. Beautiful course and great place for the awards. I will return next year! We love Cullowhee. We have visited no less than ten times. I was thrilled to learn of the half marathon as I searched for an event to help me complete my goal of 4 half marathons in 4 states in 51 days. I will be back, and I appreciated the care and generosity of everyone we met.
