1 The Relativity appliance installatin The Relativity appliance is a standalne server with a Relativity envirnment already installed n it. The appliance is available as a desktp twer r rack-muntable server. Yu cnnect the appliance t yur netwrk with a basic netwrk cable and then access Relativity, which yu can use t create wrkspaces and cnduct dcument review prjects in the same manner as rganizatins with traditinal Relativity setups. As an ut-f-the-bx slutin, the appliance remves any need fr yu t adhere t the nrmal Relativity system requirements. Once yu install the appliance, all yu need t d is turn it n and lg in t Relativity. 1.1 Pre-installatin requirements Befre installing the appliance, a kcura Infrastructure Engineering (kie) representative will get yur cntact infrmatin frm the sales department and schedule a call with yu, during which they'll recrd the fllwing pieces f infrmatin. kie will keep this infrmatin thrughut yur wnership f the appliance and use it during eventual upgrades and trubleshting. 1.1.1 Frm factr selectin Befre installing the appliance, specify whether yu intend t use a twer r rack cnfiguratin. Nte: The Relativity appliance is a heavy device that requires at least tw peple t mve. If yu pt fr rack munting, the appliance takes up 5U. 1.1.2 Security certificates Befre installing the appliance, specify which https methd yu intend t use: Client installed - yu install yur wn certificate with the help f a kie representative. This is recmmended. Grup plicy - yu apply grup plicies n end user devices r yu edit lcal settings n trusted devices. N https - yu use nly http when accessing Relativity, in which case data is nt encrypted. This is nt recmmended. 1.1.3 Custm lg Befre installing the appliance, specify whether r nt yu intend t use any custm lgs. If s, yu need t als specify any image requirements yu have. 1.1.4 Netwrk ptins The Relativity appliance makes use f up t three distinct netwrks: Relativity The Relativity Appliance Installatin Guide - 3
Management - fr the management f the chassis, the tw physical servers, and the switch in the appliance. This netwrk requires ne physical cnnectin t yur management netwrk. Public - fr the web interface f Relativity and tw management virtual machines. This netwrk requires tw physical cnnectins t yur LAN r DMZ. Internal - used internally between virtual machines and is nt directly available externally. The address space used fr this is 10.137.137.33 / 255.255.255.224. Make sure t infrm a kie representative if this range cnflicts with the range yu're currently using. Befre installing the appliance, specify whether yu intend t use DHCP r static IP addresses. If yu select static IP addresses, yu need t prvide infrmatin fr the management and public netwrk cnfiguratins in the fllwing sectins. This infrmatin is nt required if yu select DHCP. 1.1.4.1 Management netwrk If yu selected the static ptin, prvide the fllwing management netwrk IP addresses: RA-CMC-01 (the main chassis cntrller) RA-iDRAC-01 (idrac fr ut-f-band management f the first blade server) RA-iDRAC-02 (idrac fr ut-f-band management f the secnd blade server) Switch 1.1.4.2 Public netwrk If yu selected the static ptin, prvide the fllwing public netwrk IP addresses: RA-MGMT-01 (Windws-based management virtual machine 1) RA-MGMT-02 (Windws-based management virtual machine 2) Relativity (web server) RA-File-01 (Relativity file server and backup surce) 1.1.5 SMTP setup Befre installing the appliance, specify whether yu intend t use kcura's SMTP server r yur rganizatin's SMTP relay. If yu pt fr yur SMTP relay, yu need t prvide kie with an IP address and, if authenticatin is required, a user name and passwrd. 1.1.6 Prts Make sure that the fllwing prts remain pen: 443 - fr alerting and remte access. 25 - fr email alerts t kcura, Relativity passwrd resets, and accunt creatin alerts. 1.2 Installing the Relativity appliance When yu install the Relativity appliance, yu d s with the guidance f a kie representative. If installing the appliance as a rack munt, yu shuld als get assistance frm yur rganizatin s IT department. Relativity The Relativity Appliance Installatin Guide - 4
The fllwing steps depict a basic appliance installatin. Yu may need t adjust these accrding t yur specific setup. A kie representative will assist yu in adjusting these steps as yu prepare t install: T cmplete a basic installatin f the Relativity appliance: 1. Cnnect the tp tw ethernet prts t management netwrk. If there is n management netwrk, cnnect these prts t the internal LAN. 2. Cnnect the bttm ethernet prt t the internal LAN. 3. Cnnect cables t tw different pwer circuits, if available. 4. Turn n the main pwer and wait rughly five minutes. 5. Turn pwer n t the tw blades. Once yu establish yur netwrk cnnectins, yu can use the Relativity appliance t lg in t Relativity. Yu can access Relativity thrugh the https link t yurrelativity envirnment, fr example, https://relativity.client.crp. 1.2.1 Upgrading the appliance All upgrades f Relativity n the appliance are perfrmed remtely by kcura's Client Services department. Yu simply cntact supprt@kcura.cm and prvide a maintenance windw with the date and time at which yu'd like t upgrade. When using the appliance, yu're required t stay within ne versin f the mst current versin f Relativity. This means that if yu're currently running Relativity 9.0 n the appliance and Relativity 9.1 is released, yu aren't required t upgrade t 9.1 right away, althugh yu can. When Relativity 9.2 is released, hwever, yu must upgrade t either Relativity 9.1 r Relativity 9.2 within 30 days f the release f 9.2. 1.3 Security We recmmend running Relativity n the appliance using SSL (HTTPS). Relativity n the appliance uses SSL by default, and kcura prvides assistance with SSL cnfiguratin as part f the appliance setup. Althugh yu have the ptin t run Relativity n the appliance withut SSL, using nly HTTP, this cnfiguratin is nt secure and therefre nt recmmended withut ther security measures in place. Regardless f yur mde, there are n security guarantees fr any cmputer system, and we recmmend that yu cnsult yur rganizatin s IT prfessinals and sftware security cnsultants thrughut the installatin prcess. 1.3.1 Editing a hst file t use Relativity via server name In rder t access Relativity via https://relativity, yu need t edit the hst file n the user s desktp t include the IP f the Relativity web server. T d this, perfrm the fllwing steps: Nte: Make sure nt t accidentally erase any infrmatin frm the hst f yur lcal machine, and always make a cpy f the hst file befre editing it. 1. On the lcal machine, navigate t the hst file in the directry named C:\Windws\System32\drivers\etc and lcate the file named "hsts." 2. Duble-click the hsts file and pen it in ntepad. 3. In the pen hsts file, add the external IP f the web server that was given t it by yur administratin, either static r DHCP. The IP address in this example is 192.162.15.165. 1.3.2 Trusting a self-signed certificate The SSL certificate that is assciated with the Relativity website yu access thrugh the appliance is a self-signed SSL certificate. As such, when accessing Relativity, users may see a page displaying that there is a prblem with the website s security. With a self-signed certificate, brwsers may indicate that there is a prblem with the website's certificate when navigating t the website via HTTPS. This is due t the fact that the certificate was nt issued by a trusted majr certificate authrity. Relativity The Relativity Appliance Installatin Guide - 7
In rder t prevent this message frm displaying t users when they access Relativity thrugh HTTPS, yu need t trust the certificate. T d this, perfrm the fllwing steps: 1. Click Cntinue t this website (nt recmmended) t g t the Relativity lgin page. 2. On the Relativity lgin page, click Certificate errr n the right side f the address bar. On the Untrusted Certificate dialg, click View Certificates. 3. In the Certificates windw, select Install Certificate. 4. Fr the Stre Lcatin, select Lcal Machine and click Next. 5. In the Certificate Stre sectin, select Place all certificates in the fllwing stre and click Next. 6. In the certificate stre list, select Trusted Rt Certificatin Authrity and click OK. 7. Ensure that the Certificate Stre field reflects the stre yu selected and click Next. 8. Click Finish t cmplete the certificate imprt. 9. Clse ut f IE and re-pen IE t lg back int Relativity. 1.4 Capacity The Relativity appliance default cnfiguratin supprts up t 100 named users and up t tw wrkers designated fr prcessing. Nte: The Relativity appliance supprts Relativity wrkspaces cntaining 1.5 t 2 millin recrds each. Yu can access wrkspaces cntaining mre than 1.5 t 2 millin recrds, but yu may experience perfrmance degradatin. In ttal, the base Relativity appliance supprts 5 TB f file data. This means yu can use the Relativity appliance t access any cmbinatin f wrkspaces ttaling up t 15 millin recrds r 5 TB f file data, as lng as thse wrkspaces are at r belw 2 millin recrds each. 1.5 Managing backups and data Use the infrmatin in this sectin as guidelines when backing up and managing yur data. Relativity prductin data types fall int the fllwing categries: SQL Server data (structured data and file metadata) Relativity wrkspace databases (.mdf,.ndf) - All relevant databases are f the frmat EDDS####### Relativity Prcessing and Native Imaging databases INV#######, Invariant (wrker manager server), Relativity Imaging System databases - master, mdel, msdb (tempdb desn t need t be backed up) The appliance includes tw SQL Server virtual machines. sp_purge_jbhistry Jb histry is set t be retained fr 90 days SQL Server backups are retained fr tw weeks at \\RA-File-01\SQLBackups. This share is n the E Drive, which is part f a RAID array that is separate frm all ther data n the appliance. Yu shuld back up all files in this directry t a different lcatin n a regular basis, similar t the ther \\RA- File-01\ shares listed belw. The fllwing data is nt autmatically backed up by default. Yur team shuld back up this data. Files (natives and images) Larger Relativity installatins can ptentially hld millins f these files. The strage unit husing these files includes RAID and redundant cntrllers. Yu need t decide what backup slutin wrks best fr yur team. \\RA-FILE-01\FileShare Search indexes (dtsearch and Analytics) These can be rebuilt since index settings are stred in the database; hwever, the rebuild prcess may take days depending n the amunt f data in the indexes. \\RA-FILE-01\dtSearchIndexes \\RA-FILE-01\CAindexes \\RA-FILE-01\FileShare\Prcessing Surce Lcatin Nte: The RelativityGuest accunt is meant fr backing up data in a lcatin utside the appliance. This accunt has read permissins t the file shares and write permissins t allw fr direct cpy data imprts. Cnsider the fllwing factrs when scheduling backup jbs: Yur maintenance windw The size f yur data The maximum data lss yu can tlerate 1.6 Setting up prcessing If yu intend t use Relativity prcessing in yur wrkspace, make sure t place the cntainer files yu eventually want t prcess in the Prcessing Surce Lcatin share. T d this, cnnect t the \\RA-File-01\Prcessing Surce Lcatin share using the RelativityGuest accunt frm a machine that has netwrk access t the appliance. Fr mre infrmatin n Relativity prcessing, see the Prcessing User Guide. 1.7 Supprt If a hardware failure ccurs in the Relativity appliance, the system autmatically sends kcura a failure ntificatin.
