Hello and welcome to the sponsor information pack for the second Wiltshire Business and Sports Gala Dinner an event that will once again unite the business community and Wiltshire s sporting stars. We continue to work hard to build on the success of 2012 and to create a legacy for Wiltshire that continues to boost the local economy, encourage people to be more active and that brings communities together. Invigorating the economy and supporting local businesses is at the forefront of A Legacy for Wiltshire a project which is reaping real rewards. The Wiltshire Business and Sports Gala Dinner will be held in the Atrium at County Hall in Trowbridge on Thursday 26 March 2015. It is an innovative event that helps Wiltshire-based sports people to achieve their dream of representing the county and country on the biggest of sporting stages and it supports participating businesses by promoting their services and products through unique sponsorship opportunities. We have delivered a number of successful events to support the local economy including the Wiltshire Business Expo, the Wealth of Wiltshire markets and supporting Salisbury City Council s Big Business event. The most exciting for me was the inaugural Wiltshire Business and Sports Gala Dinner held in March 2014. Bringing the business community and our local sports stars together for mutual benefit has delivered great results. The Wessex Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor Steph Millward; World and European Champion and both are benefitting from this partnership. With the help of local businesses we awarded grants to 14 elite athletes across Wiltshire and as a result of hosting the dinner we raised enough money to launch the Wiltshire Sports Scholarship programme. These smaller grants compliment the scheme, supporting younger athletes competing at regional level, but with aspirations to take their career to a national and international standard. There are many success stories from the athletes who received grants in 2014 and from businesses that sponsored last year and as a result have gone on to build strong, lasting relationships with local athletes. We are excited to launch the Wiltshire Business and Sports Gala Dinner for 2015 and we hope you will realise the benefits that this could bring to your company and join us for what promises to be another great and very special evening. Jane Scott OBE Leader Wiltshire Council
Wiltshire Business and Sports Legacy Dinner 2015 The Gala Dinner promises once again to be the highest profile business event in Wiltshire in 2015. With interesting, entertaining and inspiring speakers as well as topquality locally sourced food and wine, the event creates fantastic opportunities for businesses. If you choose to take one of the sponsorship packages, you will have a table of 10 seats at the dinner, which you could consider using for any of the following: entertaining key clients at a high quality corporate hospitality event providing staff with a great night out as a reward for outstanding performance giving your key employees the chance to network with other major businesses within the county meeting top local future and current Olympians and Paralympians Speakers In 2014 we were delighted to secure former Bath and England Rugby Captain Phil de Glanville as compere for the evening, as well Paralympic gold medallist Mark Colbourne as our guest speaker. Mark captivated the audience with his story of adversity. From the accident in which he broke vertebrae in his back, and on through some extremely dark times. His inspirational story culminated in his gold medal winning performance at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Having heard what Mark had overcome, the footage of his victory in the velodrome brought the guests in the atrium to its feet in spontaneous applause. Wiltshire Council will shortly be announcing the exciting and inspiring speakers who will entertain you and your guests once again in 2015.

2014 Business Successes - The Pension Solutions Group The Pension Solutions Group is a local business providing self-invested pension products to clients and business owners, based in Corsham. The team were attracted to the Funding Future Olympians Scheme because of their own passion for sport and a desire to help local people achieve their goals. Communications Director Mike Baker told Wiltshire Council. We at PSG were all keen for this to be about more than that one night. We wanted it to be the start of an ongoing commitment to the ideals of the grant system Wiltshire Council put in place. We of course want to retain an involvement in the programme too and nothing has changed there, but we wanted a closer connection and as a relatively small company, we weren t even that interested in what this could do for our profile. We felt proud to be helping and that was and remians enough. Following the Gala Dinner we were contacted initially by Jemima Duxberry, the junior Judo competitor and within a day or so, we were also contacted by Lauren Booth, the Paralympian track cyclist. We wanted to help both of them, so we settled on giving Jemima a one off payment to help with her preparation and participation at the European Championship in July and providing Lauren with a monthly payment to help with the costs of competition entry and travel to the Newport Velodrome. Both Jemima and Lauren (via her Mum Lisa-Jayne) have been great at keeping us posted on how things have gone for them since the gala dinner and how they are getting on with training and competing now. There is great interest here in attending one of Lauren s and/or Jemima s competitions (assuming that is even possible) as part of a team outing. We d just love to watch them compete. Jemima has offered to throw one of us around for a bit by way of thanks (no one has taken her up on that!) and also to pop in and see us which I hope to arrange soon. We regularly tweet about Lauren s amazing achievements and will shortly be sending one of our Loop newsletters to all of our subscribers, dedicated to the background and accolades of Lauren and of Jemima. We also hope to extend the support we provide and look at who else we might sponsor in addition in 2015.
