3 A Foreword from James I stride towards my opponent, the adrenaline is pumping, the butterflies in my stomach in a wild frenzy... the ritual begins. Without eye contact my opponent and I test our weapons and then walk back to our on guard lines. We face each other and for a split second make eye contact as we deliver our salutes. I put on my mask and all is silent as I wait for the words... On guard the referee says confidently. I take a deep breath and assume the on guard position, my eyes now fixed on my opponent. My heart beats violently, almost shaking my body Ready, the referee says, a crescendo in his voice. My grip tightens ever so slightly, I bend my knees Fence These three words still send a shiver down my spine whenever I hear them. That growing sense of anticipation, the feeling that you are about to step into the unknown. Those last few seconds before battle commences. To me, there is no other feeling like it. I started fencing at the age of eight and 23 years later I still get goose bumps every time I prepare for a match. Fencing has always provided both structure and balance to my life and I very much look forward to working with all Little Musketeers franchisees.

8 Little Musketeers Market Opportunity Company Background Little Musketeers is run by Sydney 2000 Olympic fencer James Beevers. James, a resident of Leigh-on-Sea in Essex for most of his life, is a 3rd generation of fencer emulating the success of his mother, father and grandfather, who all fenced at international and Olympic level. James started fencing at the age of 8, and has since gone on to win every British National title including being Senior National Champion 4 times. He has represented Great Britain at no less than 16 World Championships and was a member of the British Team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Fencing is one of the most exciting sports in the modern Olympic Games yet historically, unlike other main stream sports, it is quite difficult to find a fencing club and get involved. At Little Musketeers, the mission is very much to put the fun back into fencing and make it as accessible as possible to children who wish to learn this truly unique sport. Marketplace Fencing is immensely popular with children and is fast becoming the new alternative sport to help improve fitness, co-ordination, agility, speed and strength whilst also appealing to a child s sense of play. Traditionally children have had to be about 8 years of age to start fencing. At Little Musketeers we are passionate about establishing fencing in primary schools and giving children as young as 5 years of age a fun and exciting introduction to the sport.
