AeroLab Wireless Network Code of Conduct The AeroLab wireless network is intended for academic use only. Any use of the wireless network for BitTorrent or other Peer-to-Peer file sharing is strictly prohibited. The network is automatically monitored for the use of such applications and any violators will have their wireless access privileges revoked. Connecting to the AeroLab Wireless Network This document describes the procedure to follow to configure a wireless laptop for use on the AeroLab wireless network. The AeroLab wireless network supports the 802.11a/b/g wireless standards. Before performing the steps that follow, ensure that the following are true: An 802.11a/b/g compatible wireless card is installed. The wireless card supports WPA authentication. Windows is set as the default application for configuring the wireless card. The wireless connection is set to receive IP and DNS settings automatically. All current Microsoft security updates have been installed. To configure a wireless laptop for use on the AeroLab network you must perform the following steps, each of which is explained in detail below: 1. Setup a new connection to the AEROSPACE wireless network using the Wireless Network Wizard. 2. Configure the connection to use WPA authentication. 3. Connect to the AEROSPACE wireless network. Step 1: Setup a new connection to the AEROSPACE wireless network using the Wireless Network Wizard. 1. Navigate to Network Connections, right click the Wireless Network Connection, select View Available Wireless Networks from the dropdown menu. 2. If AEROSPACE does not appear under the list of wireless networks in range click Setup a wireless network under Network Tasks, on the left-hand toolbar.

3. Enter AEROSPACE as the Network Name (SSID), select Automatically assign a network key, and check the Use WPA encryption check-box. 4. After completing the wizard AEROSPACE should appear under the list of available wireless networks. Step 2: Configure the connection to use WPA authentication. 1. Click Change advanced settings under Related Tasks, on the left-hand toolbar, in the Wireless Network Connection window.

2. Select the Wireless Networks tab, click on AEROSPACE under Preferred networks, and click Properties. 3. Select the Association tab, select WPA for Network Authentication, and select TKIP for Data Encryption.

4. Select the Authentication tab, select Protected EAP for EAP type, and clear the Authenticate as computer & Authenticate as guest checkboxes. 5. Click Properties to open the EAP properties window. 6. Clear the Validate server certificate check-box.

7. Ensure that Secured password is selected as the Authentication Method and click Configure next to the drop-down menu. 8. Clear the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password check-box. Click OK and return to the Available wireless networks window. Step 3: Connect to the AEROSPACE wireless network 1. Windows should automatically try and connect to the wireless network. If it does not select AEROSPACE from the list of available networks and click CONNECT. 2. If the Enter Credential window does not pop-up automatically click the Balloon notification in the system tray. 3. On the Enter Credentials window enter your AeroLab Portal username and password and enter AEROSPACE as the domain. 4. The network should then assign you an IP address and you should be able to access the internet. If an IP address isn t assigned automatically ensure that your wireless adaptor is set to receive IP & DNS addresses automatically, under TCP/IP properties.
