3 Introduction This document describes how to configure a wireless card in a workstation running with Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, to connect to the network through eduroam user Authentication using EAP-TTLS SecureW2. 1 Initial Checks 1.1 Operative System Compatibility with EAP-TTLS Service Pack 1 or later already support EAP-TTLS. 4 2 Install SecureW2 You can get the program SecureW2 through this link: Secure W2 Installation is very simple and we can accept all the default options. 5 3 Wireless Network Setup Open "Start> Control Panel> Center Network and Sharing" in the left menu and then open "Manage wireless networks. Click the "Add" button and select "Create network profile manually. In the popup window enter the name of network "eduroam" as shown in the next image. 6 To continue the setup click the "Forward" button. In the next window, select "Change connection settings. 8 After pressing "Setup" in the "Connection" tab we will configure the user responsible of establishing the tunnel with the server. This parameter is very important, especially if you want to access to eduroam from outside the UPC, as it tells the system which domain will have to validate the credentials. You also have to select the option "Enable quick resumption of session. On the "Certificates" tab, select the option "Check for server certificate" to tell the SecureW2 to trust the certification authority issuing the certificates used in the eduroam connection. 9 Next, in the "Authentication" tab select "PAP" as "Authentication Method". In the "User Account" tab you can select: a) "Prompt user credentials". Recommended for public access computers. Select this option if you prefer to enter your credentials (user code and password) in each connection. We will have to continue installing the connection by clicking "Install All Certificates". Once installed accept all popups. 12 APPENDIX: How to add new wireless card drivers If the wireless card driver on your computer is not compatible with the encryption method, you can update the driver. On the Web are available some of the most common drivers that can be found in a computer. Failure to find ours will be necessary to search on the website of the manufacturer of our wireless card from your computer or at Intel site: / sb/cs htm To load the driver, we will open the "Start Menu> Control Panel> Network and Sharing Center" and in the left menu open "Change adapter settings In the window that opens will open the configuration of our wireless network adapter.
