1 How to connect to NAU s WPA2 Enterprise implementation in a Residence Hall: General Settings To connect to the ResNet-Secure SSID, a device is needed that supports 802.1X authentication and WPA2 Enterprise. Supports the following EAP methods: PEAP Encryption: AES Domain: NAU-STUDENTS Username: NAU User ID Password: NAU User ID password Note: If the device does not ask for a domain, you may need to type NAU-STUDENTS\NAU User ID in the Username field. For example, if your NAU User ID is abc12, you would input this as NAU-STUDENTS\abc12 (without quotations). 2 Windows 7 1. From your Start menu, go to Control Panel. 2

3 2. Select Network and Internet. 3. Under Network and Sharing Center, select Connect to a network. 3

4 4. Select the network entitled ResNet-Secure and click Connect. 5. When prompted for Network Authentication you must enter NAU-STUDENTS\your NAU User ID in the username field, and password. For example, if your NAU User ID is abc12, you would input this as NAU-STUDENTS\abc12 (without quotations). You may also be prompted to Validate server certificate. If so, click OK. 6. You should now be successfully connected to the network. Note: you may still need to go through DHCP Registration with your device if you have not already done so. Your browser should direct you to the webpage if so. 4

5 Windows Vista 1. From your Start menu, go to Control Panel. 5

6 2. Select Network and Internet. 3. Under Network and Sharing Center, select Connect to a network. 6

7 4. Select the network entitled ResNet-Secure and click Connect. 5. A dialogue box will appear as shown below. Click Enter/select additional log on information. 7

8 6. The Enter Credentials window will open and you must enter your NAU User ID and Password in the correct fields. In the Logon domain field, enter NAU-STUDENTS (with no quotations). Click OK. 7. Again the Additional log on information is required to connect to this network box will appear. Once again, click Enter/select additional log on information. 8

9 8. A new window will appear entitled Validate Server Certificate. Click OK. 9. You should now be successfully connected to the network. Note: you may still need to go through DHCP Registration with your device if you have not already done so. Your browser should direct you to the webpage if so. 9

10 Windows XP Note: You may need to install a Windows Update in order to connect to NAU s WPA2 Enterprise implementation on a computer using Windows XP. The update can be found here Note: You will also need the Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed. 1. From your Start menu, go to Control Panel. 10

11 2. Click on Network and Internet Connections. Select Network Connections toward the bottom. 3. Select the Wireless Network Connection option and then select Change settings of this connection (located to the left). 11

12 4. A new window entitled Wireless Network Connection Properties will open. Select the Wireless Networks tab. 12

13 5. Under Preferred networks click Add and type ResNet-Secure in the Network Name (SSID) field (with no quotations). 13

14 6. Set the Network Authentication to WPA2 and the Data Encryption to AES as shown below. Then select the Authentication tab. 14

15 7. Make sure the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network is checked. For EAP type, select Protected EAP (PEAP). Make sure the other options are unchecked. 15

16 8. Click the Properties button and check Validate server certificate. From the Select Authentication Method drop-down menu, select Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP-v2). Check Enable Fast Reconnect and click Configure 9. Make sure you uncheck the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) box and click OK. 16

17 10. The Enter Credentials window will open and you must enter your NAU User ID and Password in the correct fields. In the Logon domain field, enter NAU-STUDENTS (with no quotations). Click OK. 11. 18 Mac OS X 1. In the upper-right corner of your screen, click the Airport icon and select ResNet-Secure. You may have to wait for the networks to load. 2. In the User Name field, enter NAU-STUDENTS\your NAU User ID. For example, if your NAU User ID is abc12, you would input this as NAU-STUDENTS\abc12 (without quotations). In the Password field, enter your NAU User ID password. Make sure that the drop down menu labeled 802.1X is set to Automatic and select Join. 3. You should now be successfully connected to the network. Note: you may still need to go through DHCP Registration with your device if you have not already done so. Your browser should direct you to the webpage if so. 18

19 ios (iphone) 1. From the main screen, go to the Settings tool. 2. Select the Wi-Fi option to view a list of available networks. 19

20 3. Select ResNet-Secure from the available list. 4. When prompted, enter NAU-STUDENTS\your NAU User ID in the Username field, and password. For example, if your NAU User ID is abc12, you would input this as NAU- STUDENTS\abc12 (without quotations). 20

21 5. Tap Join. 6. A certificate should come up that you must verify by tapping Accept. 7. You should now be successfully connected to the network. Note: you may still need to go through DHCP Registration with your device if you have not already done so. Your browser should direct you to the webpage if so. 21

22 Android 1. From the main screen, hit the menu button, then select Settings (or go to your list of icons and select Settings ). 2. Select Wireless & networks. 22

23 3. Select Wi-Fi settings. 4. Select ResNet-Secure from the available list. 23

24 5. The next screen will ask you to select an EAP method and Phase 2 authentication. Make sure you select PEAP and MSCHAPV2. In the Identity field, enter NAU-STUDENTS\your NAU User ID. For example, if your NAU User ID is abc12, you would input this as NAU- STUDENTS\abc12 (without quotations). Leave the Anonymous identity field blank. Enter your NAU User ID Password. Click Connect. 6. You should now be successfully connected to the network. Note: you may still need to go through DHCP Registration with your device if you have not already done so.
