2 FTP Mode Infrastructure Network Setup Overview This section will describe how to set up a WFT FTP Mode infrastructure network on an Apple Macintosh running OS X FTP Mode allows you to wirelessly transfer captured images to a computer that is set up as a remote FTP server. Image files can be transferred from the camera automatically or manually selected from the FTP server directory. This setup allows you to assign a login name and password. It assumes that the router has been set up for DHCP with WEP security enabled. It therefore requires a WEP login and will not work without one. You will also need a wireless network router to serve as the access point. Do not attempt to change the settings on any computer or network without the explicit permission of the owner or administrator. Initial Setup 1If you are using your own router, begin by switching it on and setting it up. Activate your computer s Airport card and select the name of wireless network you want to access. 2Click the System Preferences icon on the Applications Dock at the bottom of your screen. 2

3 3On the System Preferences window, click the Network icon located on the Internet & Network row. 4Select your Airport connection, then click the Advanced button. 5Take note of the IP address the router has assigned to your computer. Do not change it. Simply write it down so you can enter it into your camera settings later. (Note: If this address is dynamically assigned it may change daily. Always confirm the IP address when reconnecting to your wireless network. 3

4 6Return to the System Preferences window. Click the Sharing folder. 7Click the checkbox to the left of File Sharing, then click the Options button. 8Click the checkboxes to the left of Share files and folders using AFP and Share files and folders using FTP. 4

5 WFT Setup 1Turn on the camera and WFT unit. Press the MENU button on the camera. Navigate to the Tool menu that contains WFT Settings. Select [WFT Settings]. 2Select [Connection wizard]. 3Select [FTP trans.]. 4Select [Wireless]. 5

6 5Select [Connect with wizard]. 6select the name or SSID assigned to your wireless network router. 7Select [Auto setting]. 8Select [Address setting]. 6

7 9Enter the exact IP address you wrote down in Step 5 of the Initial Computer Setup. Press the Menu button on your camera to select [OK]. 10The address on the FTP Server screen should be identical to the address you wrote down in Step 5 of the Initial Computer Setup. Leave the port set to Select Passive mode [Disable]. 12On Proxy server select [Disable]. 7

8 13On Login method select [Login password]. 14On Login name, enter the name of your Mac. The name is located on any Finder window under Places and to the right of the house icon. When you have finished entering the login name, press the Menu button on your camera to select OK. 15On your camera s Password screen, enter the password you use to log onto your Mac. You must enter a login password for this setup to work. Press the Menu button on your camera to select OK. 8

9 16For Target folder select [Root folder], then select [OK]. 17The camera and WFT will now connect to your computer/ftp server. 18Assign your settings to a Set for later retrieval. You can assign any number from 1-4. Optional Automatic File Transfer Settings 1Go to the WFT settings menu. Select [Set up]. 9

10 2On the Set up menu enable [Automatic transfer]. Press the Menu button on your camera to confirm settings. 3Image files from your camera will automatically be transferred to a house folder identified on your computer as folder A. How to Disconnect When you have finished using FTP mode, return to the WFT settings menu to select [Disconnect.] How to Reconnect 1. Repeat Initial Setup steps 1 through Compare the IP address to the IP address you previously wrote down. If it is the same then change the WFT mode in camera from disconnect to reconnect. 11 FTP Mode Ad Hoc Network Setup Overview This section will describe how to set up a WFT FTP Mode / Ad Hoc network on an Apple Macintosh running OS X FTP Mode allows you to wirelessly transfer captured images to a computer that is set up as a remote FTP server. Image files can be transferred from the camera automatically Initial Computer Setup or manually selected from the FTP server directory. Note: This setup allows you to assign a login name and password but is otherwise unsecured and not encrypted. It requires that you have a password that you use to log onto your computer and will not work without such a password. 1Click the Airport icon on your top menu bar. Scroll down and select Create Network... on the resulting drop-down menu. 2A. Enter a name in the Name field (for example AD HOC WFT SERVER ). B. Set Channel to Automatic. C. Check the Require Password box. D. Enter a 5-character password. Your password must be exactly 5 characters. E. Click OK. 11

12 3Click the System Preferences icon on the Applications Dock at the bottom of your screen. 4On the System Preferences window, click the Network icon located on the Internet & Network row. 5Click the Airport tab on the right side of the dialog box, then click the Advanced button at the lower right corner. 12

13 6Select the TCP/IP tab. On the drop-down Configure IPv4 menu select Manually. Directly below that, enter in the IPv4 Address field. Once the dialog box is configured as shown, click OK, then Apply Now, then Quit. You can now move on to WFT Setup. 7Return to the System Preferences window. Click the Sharing folder located on the Internet & Network row. 8On the list of sharing options, click File Sharing, then click the Options... button. 13

14 9Click the checkbox to the left of Share files and folders using FTP. Camera/WFT Setup 1Turn on your camera with the WFT attached. (The WFT requires its own battery.) Navigate to the first Tool menu and select [WFT Settings]. 2Under WFT Settings select [Connection wizard]. 3Under Select communication method select [FTP trans.]. 14

15 4Under LAN type select [Wireless]. 5Under Wireless LAN setup method select [Connect with wizard]. 6Under Select wireless network select the name or SSID assigned to your wireless network router. 7Under Key Index select [1]. 15

16 8Under Key format select [Enter 5 ASCII characters]. 9Under Enter 5 ASCII characters enter the password you created in Step 2 of the Initial Setup. Press the Menu button on your camera to select [OK]. 10Under Network select [Manual setting]. 11Under IP address setting select [Manual setting]. 16

17 12Enter an IP address for the WFT unit. The first six digits must be Either one of the last two must be different from the digits you assigned to the computer. Write this number down; you will need it later. 13Under Gateway leave the gateway set to [Disable]. Select [OK}. 14Under DNS address select Disable, then select [OK]. 15Under FTP server select [Address setting], then select [OK]. 17

18 16Under FTP Server address enter the IP address address you created during the computer setup. 17The FTP server screen will display the IP address and port numbering setting. The port number should be The IP address should match what you entered in Step 16. If so, select [OK]. 18Under Passive Mode select [Disable]. 19Under Proxy server select [Disable]. 18
