MODULE 5A: EVALUATING PROJECTS After a project is concluded, it is important to look back to assess the project: to evaluate the results, identify positive and negative lessons learned and agree to follow up steps. Module 5: Post Implementation Review Page 4
MODULE 5B: LESSONS LEARNED Small Group Activity: Based on the additional information provided, about the project outcomes for the Healthcare Case Study or your own, review the Project Charter and complete the Post Implementation Review for the project. If you worked on a different Case Study, your answers should relate to the facts of your case study. To be able to assess the Lessons Learned from your project, you need to look at the Deviations from the Planned Objectives. Project Description: Deviations from Planned Objectives Compare what you had originally planned to deliver with the project and what was ultimately delivered in the end. Planned objectives can and should be taken from the original Project Plan and Project Charter. OBJECTIVES OUTCOMES RESULT X Reasons for deviations Provide a summary of the project organisation. Explain or provide information on problems (e.g. roles and responsibilities, timeframes, risk management etc.) Provide an explanation of when the objectives and outcomes did not match consider what contributed to the mismatch. In the next column, under the heading Areas for Improvement, identify deficiencies in the project where improvements could be made.
