Wistar Facility Rentals Situated at the corner of 36th and Spruce Streets in the heart of Philadelphia s bustling University City, The Wistar Institute offers a variety of versatile gathering spaces for year-round rental. The Wistar Institute was constructed in 1894 and designed by Philadelphia architects George W. and William G. Hewitt, who also designed the city s Bellevue-Stratford Hotel. The original building is one of 28 contributing properties included in the University of Pennsylvania Campus Historic District. In 1975 Wistar expanded its facilities shortly after it earned the designation as a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in basic research, and in 2014 the seven-story, state-of-the-art Robert and Penny Fox Tower was completed, uniting the entire Wistar campus. RENTAL SPACES Fox Tower Atrium The sun-filled glass atrium of Wistar s sleek seven-story, 89,700-squarefoot research tower is the ideal space for gatherings ranging from cocktail receptions to seated luncheons and dinners. The art of science is captured in historic artifacts from Wistar s anatomy collection, along with vivid cellular images from current scientific areas of study projected across 15 high-definition digital screens. RENTAL SPACES 1894 Atrium The atrium of the Wistar Institute s landmark 1894 building offers historic charm for cocktail or seated receptions, where handsome antique furnishings once owned by Isaac Wistar surround guests along with the original ironwork staircase. RENTAL SPACES Horowitz Family and Rhoads Family Conference Rooms An adjustable wall enables this venue to be booked as either one or two separate, equally sized rooms. This basic meeting space features full audiovisual capabilities, built-in white boards and counters for meeting and/or catering needs. RENTAL SPACES Koprowski and Ian J. Berg Conference Rooms This elegant, light-filled venue offers the flexibility of one large or two smaller, equally sized rooms separated by a moveable wall. Both rooms offer full audiovisual capabilities, built-in white boards (on the Koprowski side) and counters for meeting and/or catering needs. The rooms can be set to accommodate meetings, dinners or cocktail receptions. Adding to the ambiance of the Koprowski room is a 10 x 15 wool and silk Louis XIV wall tapestry. AUDITORIUMS Auditoriums For lectures and public events, Wistar offers two theater-style auditoriums for rental, complete with full audiovisual capabilities.
