2 FOR YOUR PERFECT DAY SET THE STAGE The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts is a premium venue for private functions of all varieties. Whether corporate or individual, on a performance day or a dark day, we offer a variety of different spaces and set-ups to meet your event objectives. From large corporate gatherings inclusive of stage presentations and sit-down dinners to more intimate entertaining during one of our many great shows; from 20 people to over 3,000, the Sony Centre is capable of hosting your ideal function. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, the Sony Centre is an integral part of this city s cultural sector, making it an exciting spot to host your colleagues, co-workers, family and friends. Originally known as the O Keefe Centre and then later as the Hummingbird Centre, the Sony Centre is a venue that will exceed your guests expectations. The fifty-year old building s grandeur has recently been restored to ensure that it is a unique option for clients in today s competitive event planning sector. As part of the renovations, Sony installed 99 flat panel monitors within the facility, including a 21-screen video wall as a focal point in the Main Lobby and outdoor video marquee panels. These flat panels are made available to you, at no extra charge, so you can custom-tailor the venue into your own personalized event space.

3 SHARE THE STAGE WITH OUR STARS The Sony Centre opened as the O Keefe Centre on October 1, Over the span of its 50 year existence, the Sony Centre has been host to an array of impressive celebrities, from Louis Armstrong to Liberace, Placido Domingo to Radiohead. When you decide to host an event at the Sony Centre, you are sharing the space that was once and continues to be occupied by the world s most noteworthy performers. The theatre, designated a heritage site by the City of Toronto, recently underwent extensive renovations that restored the elegance and grandeur of the original O Keefe Centre while adding state-of-the-art technologies to make it the most customizable venue in Canada.

At 3191 seats, the Sony Centre boasts the largest soft-seat theatre in the country. With a complete aesthetic overhaul, the theatre is a prime space to host large corporate events. A mid-house curtain can split the orchestra level in half at 1173 seats, creating a more intimate space for smaller events. The enormous stage is fully equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems able to accommodate the most complex functions, all at no additional rental fee to you.

5 Main Lobby Main Lobby, dressed for CTV event Main Lobby, set up for Town Hall FLOOR PLAN Area: 9400 sq ft Capacity: Boardroom - 60 Classroom Theatre Reception Banquet (with stage) (without stage) Trade Show Booths - 15 As your guests enter the Sony Centre s Main Lobby, they will be greeted by a grand video wall comprised of twenty-one 46-inch flat panel displays and enveloped by the music of your choice delivered over the Centre s digital surround sound system. The historic coffered ceiling is equipped with thousands of LED lights that can be programmed to display your event s signature colours. All of the Centre s flat panels, lobby sound system and LED ceilings are available to you for no additional rental charge so that you can feel free to customize the space to meet the specific needs of your event. Rent: $3,000

6 Mezzanine with cruiser tables Mezzanine Balcony Bar Mezzanine Level FLOOR PLAN Area: 8700 sq ft Capacity: Reception Banquet Trade Show Booths - 20 Rent: $2,500 With the Balcony Bar as the Mezzanine s focal point, this space sets up ideally for cocktail receptions. It also has a second and third bar at the east and west ends. Overlooking the Main Lobby (and accessed by two sets of escalators and stairs, as well as an elevator), the Mezzanine is often used in conjunction with the Main Lobby space, ultimately expanding the event space and providing a total of 5 large bars for the convenience of your guests. The Toronto Star Lounge at the east end and the Ethnic Channels Group Lounge at the west end flank the main space of the Mezzanine and can be used at no additional rental charge for more intimate conversational areas during larger receptions.

7 Lower Lobby, dressed for sit-down dinner Lower Lobby Lower Lobby Cabaret Stage FLOOR PLAN Area: 13,896 sq ft Capacity: Boardroom - 60 Classroom Theatre Reception Banquet Trade Show Booths - 30 Rent: $2,500 Versatility is what describes the Lower Lobby best. Two 21-foot bars flank the space with a built-in 28' X 11' stage in the middle. This is the perfect space for a sit-down dinner that includes presentations and speeches using our built-in sound system. The Sony Centre has floating walls that can allow the size, configuration and intimacy of the room to be changed to suit your specific needs. The Lower Lobby can also be used for a private event in conjunction with one of our shows. For instance, you can host a fundraising dinner for 300 guests pre-show and then escort them directly into the theatre for an evening of entertainment. Your guests can then return to the space for a cocktail during intermission and can even gather post-show for coffee and dessert.

8 Main East Lounge, dressed for event Main East Lounge, dressed for event Main West Lounge, dressed for sit-down dinner FLOOR PLAN Area: 2000 sq ft Capacity for each: Boardroom - 38 Classroom - 35 Theatre - 75 Reception Banquet 90 Rent: $1,000 each Main West Lounge The Main West and Main East Lounges are unique, smaller spaces within a bigger space that can be totally self-contained with their own bar and private designer washrooms. With a maximum capacity of 160 people each, they are perfect spaces for smaller meetings, dinners or receptions. These lounges are a popular location for clients to host receptions prior to, during and after shows in the theatre. Guests can have a pre-show bite to eat, an intermission dessert or a post-show nightcap.

9 Ethnic Channels Group Lounge ECG Lounge featuring Sony Centre furniture FLOOR PLAN Area: 850 sq ft Capacity: Boardroom - 32 Classroom - 40 Theatre - 70 Reception - 80 Banquet - 50 Recently designated the Ethnic Channels Group Lounge, this space is ideal for cocktail receptions. This space is tucked away, off the larger Mezzanine which features bars at both ends with our signature Balcony Bar as the focal point in the centre. In addition, it is a great space to host pre-show receptions when you have Balcony or Mezzanine tickets. Rent: $500

10 Toronto Star Lounge Toronto Star Lounge, set up for event FLOOR PLAN Area: 850 sq ft Capacity: Boardroom - 32 Classroom - 40 Theatre - 70 Reception - 80 Banquet - 50 Similar to the Ethnic Channels Group Lounge in its configuration, the Toronto Star Lounge is easily accessible from the Mezzanine space. An intimate setting to host a few of your friends or colleagues, the Toronto Star Lounge features iconic photos from the Toronto newspaper that are sure to be a conversation starter for guests, as well as a tasteful gallery backdrop to your event. Rent: $500

11 The Sony Centre offers 99 high definition flat panel monitors for client usage, free of charge. There is no other venue in Toronto that can offer this service. Clients are able to advertise their event to the public, brand their event with logos or personalize the event with photos and videos. The possibilities are endless and the newly integrated technology tells the world that the building has been revitalized to be a 21 st century multi-use venue.

14 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What services are included? With your rental you will be able to program all 99 Sony flat panel monitors throughout the building. These screens include the focal video wall as well as the outdoor marquee displays. Our staff will work with you to customize your content. You also have free use of our digital surround sound system in the Main Lobby and LED lighting on the ceiling and walls. All in-house furniture and equipment is at your disposal. The layout of our existing furniture can also be reconfigured to your requirements. Is your venue licensed? Yes, the Sony Centre is a fully licensed facility with in-house beverage services. Can I hold an outdoor event/ceremony? Yes, currently the Sony Centre has a terrace on the East side of the building and by 2013, we will have a brand new patio area located on the West side of the building. Who is my contact for the day of the event? Our Events Coordinator will be your contact person leading up to and including the day of your event. Is there a minimum cost requirement? No, unless you are having a cash bar, there is no minimum cost. In the case of a cash bar, there is a $400 minimum per bar. Can I have a third party caterer cater my event? Yes. There will be a 20% Landmark Fee on the food and any third party caterers must be approved by the Sony Centre. The Sony Centre maintains the bar. What is your payment structure? A deposit is required immediately upon signing a contract with the Sony Centre and the remaining amount is required ten (10) business days prior to the event. Following the event, a settlement will take place where you will either be charged or refunded any differences from the final estimate. What are the percentages for the service charge and taxes? Room rental prices are subject to a 13% HST and a 15% service charge will be calculated on the price of food and beverage. Is your facility air-conditioned? Yes, our facilities are fully air-conditioned..

15 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Do you provide linens and dishes? Linens, dishes, cutlery and glassware are rented from our exclusive rental supplier, Chairman Mills. This gives our clients the flexibility to choose the look they prefer. Is your facility wheelchair accessible? Yes, all three levels of the Sony Centre can be accessed via elevator. Where can my guests park their vehicles? There are four large parking lots in close proximity to the Sony Centre. Valet parking can also be arranged. What types of events can the Sony Centre accommodate? The Sony Centre has hosted a wide spectrum of events including large corporate attractions, town halls, fundraisers, networking events, product launches, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, retirement parties and Christmas parties. Some of our clients include TD Bank, KPMG, PwC, American Express, Sony Canada, George Brown College, CTV, Industrial Alliance, Bank of America. When do I get access to my event space? You are able to access your event space as early as 8:00am on the day of your event. What hotels are easily accessible for my guests? There are several four and five star hotels within a short walk of the Sony Centre. A list can be provided upon request. What is the closest public Transit to the Sony Centre? The TTC subway at Union or King station, as well as GO Transit s train or bus service located at Union Station.
