TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Qualification

TAE10 Training Package Structure of the new qualification includes 7 core and 3 elective units. 2 electives must be from the elective list. 1 elective can be from any Training Package or accredited course (Certificate III or above). Electives must be relevant to the work/vocational outcome of this qualification.

TAE10 Training Package Some of these changes mean.. That you could include an endorsed enterprise unit as an elective from an AQF 3 Qualification which has not been an option previously. You may need to consider inclusion of the Diploma elective of TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools, which was previously a core unit.

TAE10 Training Package The structure spans AQF 3 to AQF 5 with no pre-requisites on any units. This spanning will have an impact on delivery and assessment and vocational outcomes being achieved because of the difference in AQF levels. Careful consideration on some of the issues with developing skills will need to be made including the impact this has on the design of learning and also the assessment processes.

TAE10 Training Package Skill and knowledge development and application processes will include: participants entering the VET industry for the first time (at the point of learning outcomes of recall, basic practical skills, following routine sequences, receiving and passing on information) and may be requiring development to AQF 5 levels (learning outcomes of applying and using broad theoretical depth, analysing, evaluating for planning and forecasting, transferring application across situations of research, design and evaluation, quality and quantity responsibility, achievement of group outcomes).

TAE10 Training Package Package information: Primary release. Released as a companion volume to TAA04 Training and Assessment Training Package, which has been retained for the purposes of maintaining TAA50104 Diploma of Training and Assessment, while it undergoes review (2010) TAE10 places an emphasis on the wider educational aspects of VET education and business.

TAE10 Training Package Although at qualification level the TAA40104 and TAE40110 are equivalent, individual units are not (page 16 of the training package). Equivalence at unit level is shown as an N or E within the training package. E means the unit outcomes are equivalent. N means that the unit is not equivalent and includes additional information to the previous TAA unit.

TAE10 Training Package Previous core units from TAA40104 which are not equivalent: TAE Unit TAA Unit Changes Made TAEASS401A Plan assessment activities and processes TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools TAEDES401A Design and develop learning programs TAAASS401C Plan and organise assessment TAAASS403B Develop assessment tools TAADES402B Design and develop learning programs Element on developing simple assessment instruments (includes mapping and instructions). Focus on contextualising. Unit enhanced to make the distinction between tools and instruments clearer. This unit is about designing assessment tools, writing procedures and developing benchmarks and mapping on 3 units at different AQF levels. Rewritten unit - incorporates some elements of ENV units TAEDES402A Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs TAADES401B Use Training Packages to meet client needs Rewritten unit - incorporates some elements of ENV units

TAE10 Training Package English language, literacy and other skill requirements TAE10 candidates are expected to read and interpret training packages, develop and document learning programs and assessment tools, present information, facilitate in a number of contexts using a range of skills, and prepare various records and documents. Technology applications are also required as part of the competency specifications of some units. Further, complex cognitive skills in planning, research, interpretation, analysis and synthesis form part of the skills requirements of many units.

TAE10 Training Package Trainer and Assessor Requirements Trainers Persons who deliver recognised training in TAE10 units of competency and qualifications, must be able to demonstrate their vocational competence in education, training and assessment. Benchmarks for demonstration of this vocational competence are the relevant competency standards of TAE10 Training and Education Training Package or equivalent competence. Assessors Persons who conduct assessments against the units of competency leading to the award of TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment must have successfully completed TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or have equivalent competence. Persons who conduct assessments of candidates against individual units of competency from TAE10 Training and Education Training Package must hold formal recognition of competence in each unit in which they wish to conduct assessment or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence.

TAE10 Training Package Maintaining currency An important aspect of maintaining competence in training and assessment is the currency of competence. TAE10 assessors have a responsibility to maintain currency in all areas of their own vocational competence in training and/or assessment practice. This includes continuing currency in assessing against TAE10 Training and Education Training Package competency standards. This means that TAE assessors should be able to provide evidence of their ongoing TAE training and/or assessment practice. Currency also includes maintaining professional knowledge about the VET sector, particularly developments relating to the VET operating environment and changes in training and assessment policies and practices. And have current knowledge of the industry and workplace of the TAE learners/candidates

AQTF standards Appendix 2 of the AQTF user Guide NQC determination (17/6/2010) The NQC has agreed to a transition period of two years to allow providers time to adopt a planned approach to ensuring all trainers and assessors meet the requirements of Standard1.4(a). Therefore, until June 2012, the NQC s determination of 18 December 2009 (at Appendix 3) in relation to Standard 1.4(a) will also continue to apply. This means that TAA40104 remains recognised as meeting the HR requirements until June 2012. For the delivery of TAE40110, it also means that equivalence must be established if the TAE units are not held by trainers and assessors.

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment A central focus of TAE10 Training and Education Training Package, particularly TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, is the connection with the candidate's area of vocational competence. TAE10 candidates generally undertake qualifications in this Training Package because they possess vocational competence in a specific industry, subject or technical area and they need to develop or extend competence in training and assessment to teach, train or facilitate the learning of other individuals in their area of vocational expertise.

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Potential Challenges: Delivery and assessment across a possible 3 AQF levels Delivery and assessment of an elective diploma unit actually meeting AQF 5 outcomes and not continuing to be targeted at AQF 4 Confusion between the intention and meaning of the units TAEASS401A Plan assessment activities and processes and TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Overall core unit intentions summary TAEDES401A Design and develop learning programs... 2 learning programs, 1 must cover an entire unit of competency TAEDES402A Use training packages... contexualising units in a training package/accredited course, analysing 2 specifications of which 1 must be a training package/accredited course.

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Overall core unit intentions summary TAEDEL401A Plan, organise and deliver group based learning... entry level trainer - contextualise session plans and deliver training, 2 consecutive substantive sessions for one program, 1 session to a different learner group does not have to meet units/competency. TAEDEL402A Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace... entry level trainer facilitate 2 learning based relationships based on individualised workplace learning plan with 2 different individuals - does not have to meet units/competency.

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Overall core unit intentions summary TAEASS401A Plan assessment activities and processes... plan and organise 2 assessments on different occasions, collect evidence across a range of events on competency standards including an RPL, develop simple assessment instruments including mapping, contextualising assessment tools where required. TAEASS402A Assess competence... conducting assessment and making decisions on competency, assessing a number of candidates on different units of competency, one RPL assessment, 1 reasonable adjustment, include covering at least one entire unit of competency. TAEASS403A Participate in assessment validation... participation in 2 validation sessions usin different approaches and providing feedback

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment issues which lead to confusion with elective choices TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools... develop assessment tools including benchmarks using different assessment instruments and methods, documenting procedures and instructions and version controlling the tools, trialling and refining the tools on 3 entire units of competency at different AQF levels. There doesn t seem to be a lot of difference between this unit and TAEASS401A in the development of assessment documentation other than in volume and the capacity to work across different AQF levels. It s not clear what the difference between simple assessment instruments (TAEASS401A) and assessment tools (TAEASS502A) are both need instructions, both need mapping, both need benchmarks, both address units of competency????

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Benefits: The structure allows a lot of choice in electives to meet business needs with a focus on training and assessment. Some of the detail in the previous training package has been clarified. Pathways to higher qualifications have been provided.

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment The facilitation units do not require delivery in units of competency which lends itself to a qualification which may be highly enterprise/industry focussed. Volume required in developing simple assessment instruments is less than in the previous TAAASS403B Develop assessment tools.

PBP experience to date PBP focus - we ve already changed our clusters based on our pilot program. Example: we had clustered TAEDEL301A, TAEDEL401A, TAEDEL402A together. We ve removed TAEDEL301A and replaced it with BSBCMM401A Make a presentation. TAEDEL301A requires the delivery of 3 training sessions with different groups covering different objectives and we can achieve the delivery units of TAEDEL401A and TAEDEL402A with 2 group sessions and 2 one on ones and place more focus on presentation skills with our updated selection.

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment The document provided/available is a PBP summary of our mapping analysis between units in: BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment The mapping is on each unit with a critical aspects summary at the end of each unit. Note: This mapping is not industry approved.
