Participants: This course is designed for union trainers/educators, especially those who are responsible for design and delivery of their union's delegate courses. It is also recommended for other union staff such as organisers or industrial staff who deliver sessions or courses to delegates and members as part of their role. Participants must be nominated by a union (or be a union member) to enroll. Additionally, for participants wishing to achieve the Cert IV in TAA, it is recommended they have: Access to a workplace for completion of some assessment activities Good reading, writing, computing and internet skills Email and web access, a personal computer and telephone Aims and Learning Outcomes: The course aims to give educators and organisers the knowledge and skills to prepare and deliver short training sessions for members, activists and delegates. At the end of this course, participants will be able to: Describe the values and key principles that underpin union education; Prepare session plans, including aims and objectives; Identify learning styles and strategies to meet different learner needs; Develop activities, visual aids and other supporting resources; Identify strategies to manage group dynamics; Demonstrate basic training techniques and presentation skills; Explain the overlap and separation between accredited and non-accredited training. Define VET and analyse Training Packages and Units of Competency; Design Learning Programs that meet the requirements of Units of Competency; Plan, develop and conduct competency based assessments, including RPL; Conduct assessment review and validation. Participants have the right to appeal against assessment decisions made by an Educator. They should follow the Appeals Procedure available on the website. All discussion and outcomes will be documented in the participant file. Participants gaining TAE40110 Certificate IV in TAA may wish to continue their studies in the Diploma of Training and Assessment (TAA50104). Duration: Enrolment in the qualification is for 12 months. If needing more to complete assessment, they may request an extension up to a maximum of 2 years from the date of enrolment. After 2 years, if participants wish to complete outstanding work, they must re-enrol and pay for the course again.
