Welcome to week 4 of Term 4 Dear Parents and Caregivers Thank you to all who made last Thursday's Prize Giving such a wonderful event. I was amazed by both the number and quality of the awards. Many of our young men have striven during the year to reach lofty heights and become 'tall poppies'. Special congratulations must go to our top award winners' Dux: Johnny Mottershead, Proxime Accessit: Ben Guest and Scott Bezett, Best All Round Boy: Scott Bezett, Best All Round Sportsman: Henry Hodgson, Hostel Top Scholars: Fraser Howie and Will Tasker. I would also like to formally congratulate Edward Grant (Head Prefect), Sam Kilsby (Deputy Head Prefect), Mitch Pryde (Head of Hostel) and Ben Sinnamon (Deputy Head of Hostel) on their appointment to leadership roles for 2016. I know they will be well supported by the staff and students. Examinations begin today, always a nerve racking time for staff and students. I trust that all have prepared as well as they can. Staff are still willing and available for tutorials during the examination period. Please do not hesitate to send your son along. Richard Hall Rector Edward Grant Sam Kilsby Mitch Pryde Ben Sinnamon
In and around the classroom A number of our Pasifika students have been recognised for their outstanding achievements in the academic, sporting and cultural fields. Last week Henry Stowers and Mathew Te'o were awarded with Otago Polytechnic Achievement Awards and Mathew was awarded with an Otago Polytechnic Pasifika Scholarship. This week Mathew and Henry were joined on stage by Declan Su a and Sione Asi who were all awarded with a Pasifika Talanoa Achievement Award. Well done! Year 11 English take to the outdoors for some revision. The Year 10 Maths Extension boys end their journey towards taking the Level 1 Maths exam, this coming Monday 9th November at 9.30am. These boys have committed to extra lessons on Tuesdays all year in their pursuit of academic excellence. Good luck boys!
