1 UCD College of Engineering and Architecture Architecture & Landscape Architecture 2015/2016 A Guide to First Year
2 Welcome to UCD s Programmes in Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Buildings and landscapes, designed by architects, are complex, compelling human products which play a fundamental role in people s lives. Design will be central to your education here. Supported by the knowledge you will acquire through lectures, seminars and tutorials, you will be asked to propose meaningful and innovative solutions to set problems and situations. Each design problem will involve new challenges. And for every problem, there will be many possible solutions. You will be learning by doing, becoming fluent in the invention and development of your designs. It is this capacity for concerted, considered creative action that characterises our students. I wish you the very best with your studies in UCD. Professor Hugh Campbell Dean of Architecture DEAN S WELCOME REGISTRATION: Check out the Welcome to UCD Booklet which can be found at for more information about Online Registration, IT Services, UCD Mobile App and much more!
