Leeds Beckett University Job Description Ref: HRD292032A Faculty/Service Section Post Designation Corporate Services Human Resources HR Systems Analyst Grade 6 Post to which directly responsible Posts for which directly responsible Head of HR Planning and Reward None Purpose of Job The HR Systems Analyst is required to provide a high quality, responsive, technical and advisory service to users of our HR systems and to support the ongoing development of our HR systems. This will include ensuring that the functional benefits are fully realised in the extent to which they can improve our HR processes and service delivery. The HR Systems Analyst also plays a key role in providing HR related business intelligence and ensuring that we fulfil our statutory and external reporting requirements. This includes developing our capacity to deliver relevant, accurate and user-friendly management information to managers across our university. Responsibilities 1. Develop and apply expert knowledge in the full functionality of itrent and other HR systems. 2. Provide support and guidance to system users across all functionality of itrent and other HR systems and to investigate any problems in conjunction with IT Services, the system suppliers and their consultants. 3. Establish effective working relationships with the system suppliers in order to support system upgrades, diagnose and resolve system errors and carry out bespoke developments to the system s functionality. 4. Carry out software testing on new and upgraded system functionality. 5. Maintain authorised users and access to HR related data and systems. 6. Assist with the development of the HR Systems Officer. This will included some supervision and support of their daily activities and the allocation of tasks and duties as appropriate. 7. Develop training and guidance materials on the operation of the itrent and other HR systems and deliver training to system users. 8. Monitor and report on the use of HR systems and identify any development needs/compliance issues with data quality or data entry that need to be addressed. 9. Actively promote good practice and compliance in the use of our HR information systems, identify and contribute to any potential areas in which our systems and processes can be made more efficient, user-friendly and customer focused. 10. Develop and maintain a portfolio of standard and bespoke reports using Business Objects for use by HR teams and managers across our university as well as fulfilling statutory and external reporting requirements e.g. HESA. 11. Maintain and develop the HR pages on our university s website to ensure that they are accurate, informative and user friendly.
12. Liaise with IT Services to ensure that HR is equipped with the required level of hardware and software equipment to provide its full range of services. 13. Engage in own personal and professional development, maintaining up to date knowledge of HR practice and technical IT related expertise and developing a range of effective behaviours and skills. 14. As a member of our HR function contribute to, manage and/or provide support for the full range of HR activity and HR priorities such as new initiatives, policy development etc. Please note that specific duties will vary from time to time: the above list is intended to indicate the general nature of the post and is not exhaustive. Relationships The postholder will work closely with staff within Human Resources and staff at all levels throughout our University. Terms & Conditions Terms & Conditions of Service are as determined by the Vice-Chancellor for Support staff (within a framework set by the Board of Governors), and will have regard to any national recommendations arising from negotiations between the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA), and the recognised trade unions in so far as these are adopted by the Board / Vice-Chancellor. Salary is currently within Grade 6 ( 32,277 to 36,309). On appointment staff will normally be placed on the first point of the substantive grade for the post. Appointment above this will only be on an exceptional basis and subject to approval in line with our University s Pay Policy. Support Staff Annual leave entitlement is 38 days. Hours of work per week = 37. Probationary Period Appointment to this position may be subject to a probationary period of up to 6 months, in line with our probationary policy. Proven experience and expertise in administering and developing corporate IT systems in a large, complex organisation. 2. Highly developed IT skills including the ability to be an expert user of a range of systems and to understand technical issues that need to be resolved in liaison with the system supplier and IT Services. 3. Highly developed analytical skills with ability to build complex reports using a standard reporting tool such as Business Objects. 4. A good level of awareness of HR related activity (ideally including payroll and pensions) along with a good understanding of the latest technology and how this can translate to the provision of effective HR systems and business intelligence.
