PROGRAM DESCRIPTION This is a one-day course in practical use of ultrasound. It is designed to provide an introduction to ultrasound image production, followed by in-depth didactic sessions of normal anatomy, sonoanatomy and rheumatic based pathophysiology of the hands and feet. The major rheumatic conditions will include rheumatoid arthritis (RA), spondyloarthropathies (SpA) and crystalline associated arthropathies. Each didactic will be paired with a hands-on session proctored by a rheumatologist certified in Rheumatologic ultrasound (RhMSUS) by the American College of Rheumatology. TARGET AUDIENCE Rheumatologists, rheumatology fellows, sonographers, nurses, advanced practice clinicians and other healthcare professionals who utilize ultrasound. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Assess ultrasound image generation and machine optimization in order to use ultrasound to image musculoskeletal anatomy and pathology. Correctly identify normal hand and foot anatomy and its representation by ultrasound (sonoanatomy). Translate the up-to-date literature on sonopathophysiology of the hands and feet as it relates to disease specific states (RA, SpA, crystalline arthropathies). CME CREDIT DESIGNATION MedStar designates this activity for a maximum for 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) MedStar Washington Hospital Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education fro physicians.
