Cuyahoga Community College Dean of Creative Arts Search Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of Creative Arts. Ohio s first and largest community college, Tri-C is well supported in the regional. Each year more than 55,000 credit and non-credit students take courses at our four traditional campuses, two Corporate College locations, 50+ off-campus sites and via television and the Internet. The Dean will be responsible for the leadership and management for the creative arts programs across the college (Performing Arts, Media Arts, JazzFest, ArtsPrep, and Cultural Arts.) He/She will lead the strategic plan for the Contemporary Music Program, establishing it as a "Center of Excellence." The new Dean will interact closely with leaders of the local arts and business communities to develop the necessary relationships to ensure that the College cultivates value in its niche community and promotes the visibility of the College's programs, fosters creativity, partners with the Foundation Office to expand external support and manages the Division's human, fiscal, and physical resources. Overseeing the development, coordination, implementation and
enhancement of the college based creative arts programming including strategic growth and retention of students will be paramount in this position. He/ She will direct the Creative Arts Division to assure programs are relevant and current as well as develop, review and evaluate academic plans, curriculum, and programs. The new Dean will have the responsibility to recruit, select, supervise and evaluate faculty and division/departmental staff. He/She will ensure the communication of plans, activities and expectations of faculty and staff at various levels within the campuses and within the division. Most importantly the candidate will work in collaboration with the college-wide academic leadership team and other academic area team members to develop cross curricular programs on behalf of students that meet evolving industry needs and reflect cutting edge industry standards through an interdisciplinary emphasis within the Division of Creative Arts. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Fine Arts, Performing Arts or related field Five years of progressively responsible experience as a department chairperson or manager of personnel and resources in an area related to creative arts within a college or industry setting Demonstrated experience in budget management, program development, continuous quality improvement, community outreach and resource development Demonstrated successful experience in academic administration including financial and personnel management Ability to develop, organize, and coordinate a wide variety of instructional programs to achieve College and Division goals Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, staff, and faculty throughout the college and external partners Must be able to think across curricular units and work with students to design interdisciplinary/individualized degree programs Demonstrated commitment to student success and to enhancing teaching and learning Ability to lead faculty teams in projects and the development of new programs and projects
