2 The Search for a President The Board of Trustees of Edison Community College invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its next President. The President will take office on or before July 1, About Edison Founded in 1973 and chartered as a state community college in 1977, Edison Community College is a comprehensive state-supported community College serving approximately 200,000 residents of Miami, Darke and Shelby counties in Ohio. Situated on 130 acres in Piqua, Ohio, Edison Community College enjoys a small city flavor with access to metropolitan cities of Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati. The College enrolls approximately 4,000 students annually. A satellite campus is located in Greenville. The region has historically had a strong manufacturing and agricultural economic base and is part of the Interstate 75 corridor running from Toledo to Cincinnati. With over 90 programs and certificates, Edison Community College serves the tri-county area with traditional transfer programs and a variety of career programs with outreach into business and industry curricula that provides on-site training, career preparation, leadership development, and personal enrichment. Edison Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2000, Edison Community College adopted the continuous quality improvement approach (CQI) to organizational performance. In 2001 the College joined the Continuous Quality Improvement Network (CQIN) and the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) of the Higher Learning Commission and is noted as a vanguard College in AQIP processes. It has been named a Military Friendly School by GI Jobs Magazine. Edison Community College has an $18 million budget, 166 faculty and staff, and an average of 150/semester adjunct faculty.

Leadership Agenda for the President of Edison Community College As the College s Chief Executive Officer, the President is responsible for providing institutional visionary, community-minded and visible leadership, and strategic direction for every aspect of the College in support of its mission. The President provides strong, decisive leadership in meeting the College s mission and its commitment to student success and completion. In addition, the President is charged with demonstrating the ability to discern, prioritize and act on the challenges facing the College.

4 Challenges and Opportunities Lead as a learning-centered President who will champion access, success, and completion. Advance Edison s commitment to serve the diverse, cultural and socio-economic communities represented in our service area. Respect, fully utilize, and develop the skills of all people in the College community. Face the fiscal and budgetary challenges of a shrinking state support and develop alternative sources of revenue. Strengthen relationships and build new partnerships with K-12, higher education, non-profit organizations and business and industry. Advocate, build relationships and raise funds for Edison in the community; unite campus and community in a shared vision for the College. Navigate the University System of Ohio and connect with local, regional, and state legislators. Build on the College s commitment of innovation in anticipation of the changing needs of our community. Maintain a strong orientation and connection with the Board of Trustees who are appointed by the Governor for staggered six-year terms. Rise to the challenge and reality of 100% performance-based funding for higher education institutions in Ohio by ensuring competitive success points, milestone and course completions for all students. Stabilize funding and grow the College to serve an increasing number of citizens. Foster a community of inclusion and openness by maintaining a visible presence on campus. Support and enhance the College s Strategic Plan. Minimum Qualifications Edison Community College s next President will be expected to possess a minimum of a Master s degree, with a preference for an earned doctorate, and a demonstrated record of progressively increasing administrative experience.

A leader who serves as an integral business and industry partner in support of economic and workforce development in the region. A commitment to building alternative resources other than traditional means of state share of instruction and tuition. Application Process In deference to the sensitivity of the positions presently held by many of those who will be nominated and considered, the search will be conducted in strict confidence until finalists are brought to campus.
