1 Executive Director of Marketing and Communications Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University Rice University announces an opening for Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, starting December This position supports the dynamic expansion of the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business and its brand. Position Summary The Executive Director of Marketing and Communications for the Jones Graduate School of Business (JGSB) is responsible for marketing JGSB to a broad range of stakeholders. Primary goals are focused on business development (attracting quality applications to degree and non-degree programs), enhancing the brand consistent reputation of the school, and engaging and communicating the school s stories, programs, services and values to internal and external stakeholders. JGSB stakeholders include: faculty, staff, students, prospective students, recruiters, alumni, donors; the Council of Overseers, Board of Trustees, Jones Partners, the Houston and national business community, the news media, government, other business schools and institutions of higher education, the surrounding community, and the general public. The Executive Director of Marketing and Communications reports to the dean and plays a leading role in developing marketing strategy to support business development initiatives throughout the school and analyzing and influencing perceptions of the Jones School with a goal of enhancing the brand. This position will: Collaboratively plan, develop and execute a marketing strategy for the school's programs and services as a service provider to the various stakeholder groups; leverage and promote the Jones and Rice brand. Manage internal staff and external agencies to support marketing strategy with market research, campaigns, digital strategies, web design or other projects as needed. Direct school communications, news and publications efforts, lead short and long-range planning on communications issues; set communications policy. Serves as a school-wide service provider and consultant with respect to marketing and communications providing assistance to the dean, deputy dean, sr. associate deans, assistant deans, senior administrators, faculty, alumni, student groups and staff on issues, policies, programs, decisions and courses of action, particularly concerning, but not confined to, marketing programs and services, communications, news media and public affairs. Manage publications, website, and media relations; be responsible for website, including policy setting; work with outside vendors as needed. Oversee production and distribution of the school's recruitment and alumni publications, Dashboard and other publications, as needed. Provide school liaison and coordination among university news and public affairs offices; consult with vice president for public affairs and makes decisions on use of school assets, including the use of the Jones name or identity in print, video and broadcast media, and non-news-related filming or photography on campus. Identify internal communication needs and facilitate communication from academic leadership to faculty, staff and students. As needed: Manage -- and work to prevent -- crises and problems. Work with the vice president for public affairs when such situations arise. Prepare the dean and others for media interviews. Carry out other duties as assigned by dean. Act as the school spokesperson; field, respond to and direct calls from news media and public, and school community members dealing with news media and public. Coordinate and respond to inquiries on rankings.

Most of the metrics associated with these outcomes are now in the top 20 domestically. Following a growth for excellence strategy, JGSB simultaneously hit record highs in terms of quality and overall size of the school. With over 5,000 alumni and broad support from the Rice and Houston communities, the School recently completed a capital campaign, raising $65 million for faculty, students, and programs.
