About the role The purpose of the role is to contribute to the design of quantitative methodologies and undertake quantitative data analysis across a range of projects within our core policy areas of pre-16 education; further education and skills; higher education; business and enterprise; sport, health and wellbeing; and career guidance. Our key clients include government departments and agencies, charities, universities and research councils. The successful candidate will have knowledge of advanced quantitative data analysis techniques and proven analytical skills, excellent writing and communication skills, a creative and problem-solving outlook and a passion to deliver value for our customers. You will possess a high level of initiative and be capable of responding flexibly to a range of analytical tasks across a range of policy areas. You will demonstrate a genuine appetite for personal learning and development. With the support of an Associate Director, you will manage quantitative aspects of research projects, leading the design and delivery of primary quantitative fieldwork, including online and computer-assisted telephone (CATI) surveys and secondary analysis of national datasets. You will present and report on quantitative research findings to nontechnical audiences. Much of our work involves mixed methodologies and the successful candidate will have an appreciation of qualitative research methods and how quantitative and qualitative data can be used to inform evidence-based conclusions and recommendations. Part of the role will also be to support the development of new business opportunities including contributing to proposals. Research Analyst 3

More specifically, the role will: contribute to the design and implementation of quantitative methodologies including developing sampling strategies and designing quantitative research instruments and analysis plans; identify, manipulate and/or re-structure national datasets for the purposes of secondary analysis; capture, clean and manipulate primary quantitative data using statistical analysis software; undertake descriptive and inferential statistical analysis and apply appropriate statistical tests to establish the significance of results; tabulate and/or chart quantitative data to aid interpretation; contribute to the production of research reports for a range of audiences; work with associates, including academics and economists, on cost-benefit analysis, return on investment and economic and econometric analysis; and contribute to the generation of new business through scanning for appropriate tendered opportunities and supporting the development of research proposals. Location The role is based at CFE s Leicester office, but will require some travel (within the UK) from time to time. There are opportunities to work from home and these arrangements are agreed with the post-holder s line manager. Reporting to The role reports to an Associate Director.
