WFT Server Mode Infrastructure Network Setup Overview This section will describe how to set up a WFT Server Mode/Infrastructure network on an Apple Macintosh running OS X 10.5-10.6. WFT Server Mode allows you to wirelessly control your camera through a standard web browser. It also provides Live View functionality and the ability to wirelessly transfer images from the camera to a remote computer. This setup requires a wireless network router to serve as the access point. It assumes that the router has been set up for DHCP with WEP security enabled. You will therefore need the 10 digit WEP key or other password to connect to the router. Do not attempt to change the settings on anyone else s computer or network without the explicit permission of the owner or administrator. Initial Setup OS X Begin by switching on your router and setting it up according to manufacturer s instructions. Activate your computer s Airport card and select the name of wireless network you want to access. If the network belongs to someone else you must obtain permission before attempting to access it. WFT Setup 1Turn on your camera with the WFT attached. (The WFT requires its own battery.) Navigate to to the Tool menu that lists WFT settings, then select [WFT settings]. 2

2Under WFT Settings, select [Connection wizard]. 3Under Select communication method, select [WFTserver], then select [OK]. 4Under LAN type, select [Wireless]. then select [OK]. 5Under Wireless LAN setup method, select [Connect with wizard], then select [OK]. 3

6Under Select wireless network, select the wireless network ID that is being distributed by your router. This must be the same one you selected in the initial computer setup. Select [OK]. 7Under Key format, select one of the two options. The option you choose must match the maximum number of digits available or necessary for your router s wireless network login ID (WEP key). Select [OK]. 8Under Enter 8-63 ASCII characters, enter the wireless login ID/WEP key you need to access the wireless network. Press the Menu button on the camera to select [OK]. 9It may take a few seconds for the WFT to connect to the wireless network. When it does, you will see this Network screen. Select [Auto setting], then select [OK]. 4

10Under Select set number, assign a number from 1-5 so your settings can be saved and retrieved for future use. Select [OK]. 11Return to the first Tool menu. Select [WFT Settings]. 12Under WFT settings, select [Set up]. 13Under Set up, select [Confirm settings]. 5

14Under Confirm settings, scroll to settings screen 2 on the camera. You must enter the exact IP address set you see on your camera into your web browser to access WFT Server. The screen at right is only an example. Enter IP address here for reference. 192.168.1. 15Return to the first Tool menu. Select [WFT Settings]. 16Under WFT Settings, select [Set up]. 17Under Set up, select [WFT server settings]. 6

18Under WFT server settings, select [WFT account]. 19Select a WFT account to which you wish to assign a Login name and Password. In this example we have selected [User 1]. 20Under the next WFT account screen, enter the Login name and Password of your choice. Entries are case-sensitive, so write down exactly what you entered. This will be the login name and password you must enter in Step 22 below. Login name Password 21You are now set up for a WFT infrastructure wireless network. To log in, open your web browser, enter the IP address you saw in WFT Setup Step 14, then tap the [return] key on the touch keyboard. (The URL you see here is only an example.) 7

22Enter the Login name and Password you assigned in Step 20 above, then click the Log In button. 23You will see a WFT Server home screen similar to the one at right. Click any one of the three buttons to begin. How to Disonnect When you have finished using WFT Server mode, return to the WFT settings menu to select [Disconnect.] This will disconnect your WFT from your computer s wireless network. How to Reconnect To reconnect: 1. Change the WFT setting from [Disconnect] to [WFTserver]. 2. Turn on the WFT. When the LED turns green repeat Steps 11-14. 3. WFT Server Mode Ad Hoc Network Setup Overview This section will describe how to set up a WFT Server Mode ad hoc network on an Apple Macintosh running OS X 10.5-10.6. An ad hoc network creates a two-way link between the Wireless File Transmitter and your computer. WFT Server Mode allows you to wirelessly control your camera through a standard web browser. It also provides Live View functionality and the ability to wirelessly transfer images from the camera to a remote computer. This setup allows you to assign a login name and password, is secure, and WEP encrypted. Before making any changes, please take note of your original settings so that you can restore them later if you wish. Do not attempt to change the settings on anyone else s computer or network without the explicit permission of the owner or administrator. Initial Computer Setup 1Click the Airport icon on your top menu bar. Scroll down and select Create Network... on the resulting drop-down menu. 9

2A. Enter a name in the Name field (for example AD HOC WFT SERVER ). B. Set Channel to Automatic. C. Check the Require Password box. D. Enter a 5-character ASCII password. Your password must be exactly 5 characters. E. Click OK. 3Your Airport icon will be replaced by the icon shown at right. 4Click the System Preferences icon on the Applications Dock at the bottom of your screen. 10

5Under Internet & Network, click the Network icon in the fourth row from the top. 6Click the Airport tab on the left side of the dialog box, then click the Advanced button at the lower right corner. 11

7Click the TCP/IP tab. On the drop-down Configure IPv4 menu select Manually. In the IPv4 Address field, enter 192.168.1.100. Once the dialog box is configured as shown, click OK, then Apply, then close the dialog box. You can now move on to WFT Setup. WFT Setup 1Turn on your camera with the WFT attached. (The WFT requires its own battery.) Navigate to to the Tool menu that lists WFT settings, then select [WFT settings]. 2Under WFT settings, select [Connection wizard]. 12

3Under Select communication method, select [WFTserver], then select [OK]. 4Under LAN type, select [Wireless], then select [OK]. 5Under Wireless LAN setup method, select [Connect with wizard], then select [OK]. 6Under Select wireless network, select the name of the wireless network you created during Step 2 of the initial computer setup, then select [OK]. 13

7Under Key index, select [Key index 1], then select [OK]. 8Under Key Format, select [Enter 5 ASCII characters], then select [OK]. 9Under Enter 5 ASCII characters, enter the same 5-digit password you entered during Step 2 of the initial computer setup. Press the Menu button on the camera to select [OK]. 10Under Network, select [Manual Setting], then select [OK]. 14

11Under IP address setting, select [Manual Setting], then select [OK]. 12Enter an IP address for the WFT unit. This will be the address you enter into your browser to access WFT Server. The first six digits must be 192.168. Either of the last two digits must be different from the ones you assigned to the computer. Select [OK]. Enter IP address here for reference. 192.168.. 13Under Gateway, leave the gateway set to [Disable]. Select [OK]. 15

14Assign a Set number from 1-5 so your settings can be saved and retrieved for future use. Select [OK]. 15Return to the Tool menu that lists [WFT Settings]. Select [WFT Settings]. 16Under WFT Settings select [Set up]. 17Under Set up, select [WFT server settings]. 16

18Under WFT server settings, press the Set button to select [WFT account]. 19Select a WFT account you wish to define. In this example we have selected [User 1]. 20Under the next WFT account screen, enter the Login name and Password of your choice. Entries are case-sensitive, so write down exactly what you entered. This will be the login name and password you must enter in Step 22 below. Login name Password 21You are now set up for a WFT ad hoc wireless network. To log in, open your web browser, enter the IP address you created in Step 12, then press the [return] key on your computer keyboard. The IP address must begin with http://. 17

22Enter the Login name and Password you assigned in Step 20 above, then click the Log In button. 23 You will see a WFT Server home screen similar to the one at right. Click any one of the three buttons to begin. 18

How to Disonnect When you have finished using WFT Server mode, return to the WFT settings menu to select [Disconnect.] To reconnect your computer to the Internet, restore your previous settings. How to Reconnect To reconnect: 1. Change the WFT setting from [Disconnect] to [WFTserver]. 2. Select the WFT network you previous setup on your computer. 3.
