New Program Format! 20th Annual Echocardiography for the Sonographer Update on Echo in Valvular Heart Disease September 8 9, 2012 Rochester Marriott Hotel Rochester, Minnesota REGISTER ONLINE NOW! http://www.mayo.edu/cme/cardiovascular-diseases-2012r593

COURSE DESCRIPTION The course is designed to provide the sonographer with a practical review of the current uses and limitations of two-dimensional echocardiography, Doppler and color flow imaging in the assessment of valvular disease. Recent advances in the field of echocardiography including the assessment of systolic and diastolic function, quantitative Doppler, and stress echocardiography will be presented. The lectures will be illustrated with digital image presentations of clinical cases in echocardiography and time has been allowed for participants to ask questions as well as interact closely with the course faculty. An audience response system will be used during case presentations. Interactive hemodynamic workshops and case review sessions will be conducted to allow participants the opportunity to apply the principles they are learning. Participants will receive an electronic syllabus and hemodynamic guide for their future reference. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own calculators to maximize participation in the hemodynamic workshops. COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: Discuss standard echocardiographic methods used to assess valvular heart disease; Develop an integrated approach to the Doppler assessment of valvular stenosis and valvular regurgitation; and, Discuss emerging applications of echocardiography in the evaluation of native and prosthetic valve dysfunction. Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course. INTENDED AUDIENCE The course is designed for sonographers and physicians who wish to enhance their knowledge of the echocardiographic assessment of adult cardiac disease.
