VAR Speakers Bill Beighe Bill Beighe, CIO of Physicians Medical Group of Santa Cruz, has been involved with the Santa Cruz Health Information Exchange since 1998 and joined Physicians Medical Group of Santa Cruz full time in As CIO and HIPAA Security Officer, Bill is responsible for all information systems, VoIP and clinical data exchange systems at Physicians Medical Group, a 300-provider Independent Physicians Association and primary sponsor of the Health Information Exchange. Bill s team supports Health Information Exchange, Practice Management and Electronic Health Records at many provider offices and clinics in the community. McKesson s Practice Partner is the #1 EMR installed in the community and is electronically connected to the HIE since Bill has a 27-year career in the information technology industry with the last ten years in Health Technology and Health Information Exchange. Bill lives in Santa Cruz, California. Clyde Bennett Clyde Bennett is the President of Clyde Bennett and Associates, one of McKesson s most tenured resellers. He began reselling Practice Partner in He has assisted with the implementation of hundreds of sites in his career, and is always on the lookout for new ways to enhance the client s experience. Clyde received his BA, Bachelor of Journalism, and MBA from The University of Texas at Austin and was named McKesson s Consultant of the Year in Clyde and his team have over 65 years combined experience with Practice Partner and have four office locations across the three different time zones. Joel Bonser Joel has been with Stanford Technology for over six years and is the current Director of Client Care. Joel graduated with a Bachelor s in Management Information Systems and he has dedicated over 12 years to the support industry. While with Stanford Technology, Joel has been responsible for implementation, database repair, configuration, and support for Practice Partner and Medisoft Clinical. He assisted in creating and running our Support Department at Stanford Technology. Joel started with Bill Stanford in 2006, when they had a client base of approximately eight customers. Since then they have grown to over 80 customers. Mark Gerlitz Mark Gerlitz is a member of MD Solutions. MD Solutions has been a Medisoft VAR since 1998 and currently a McKesson One Platinum Certified reseller. We have worked with and supported Revenue Manager since 2006, which was three years prior to it becoming a McKesson product. They have a full-time trainer for Medisoft Clinical/Medisoft, a dedicated EDI 5010 tech, a Medisoft Reports Writer that has been customizing Medisoft Reports for the last ten years and Medisoft generalist tech specialist. They support Medisoft/Medisoft Clinical to clients across the country and are located in Arvada, Colorado a western suburb of Denver. Tim Head Tim Head has been an IT Specialist for almost eight years. He is currently the Systems Administrator and Data Base Administrator for M E Computer Systems (a McKesson VAR of 18 years). He has been employed with M E Computer Systems since Tim is certified in Medisoft, Medisoft Clinical, Practice Partner and McKesson Practice Choice. He has been a Medisoft Advisory Board Member for two years and was nominated for the 2011 Technician of the Year Award by McKesson. Tim s extensive technical knowledge of McKesson s systems administration has been a contributing factor in the success of M E Computer Systems. His hobbies include Auto Cross Racing and Drag Racing. He is also a professional photographer in his spare time. Aimee Heckman Aimee Heckman is Vice President of Operations at JBS of Central Florida. JBS provides Medisoft software sales and support as well as medical billing services to medical practices, primarily in the solo and small group provider market. Aimee has more than 20 years of experience training resellers and end users to use Medisoft in the most productive and efficient manner, including two years traveling throughout the United States as a corporate trainer for Medisoft. She also has an online Medisoft training site, Aimee began her career in healthcare working in and managing medical practices. Because she understands what it takes to run a medical office, her perspective in training is very practical. She understands not only how to operate the software but how to make it work most effectively in the office environment. Aimee believes almost every user has a unique need or situation to address and loves the challenge of showing them how to make Medisoft do things they never knew it could do! Jim Hildt bio still to come. Don Jung Don Jung is the Sales and Marketing Manager at Kaberline Healthcare Informatics in Saint Louis, MO. Don s combined expertise in practice management, EHR, and voice recognition software over the past decade provide him the ability to develop efficient systems for customers which take advantage of voiceenabling both software and work-flow processes within a medical office. Don has implemented Dragon Medical Practice Edition with scores of EHRs and is proficient in developing tools utilizing voice versus keyboard and mouse. Although his primary focus is the use of Dragon Medical in Practice Partner/Lytec MD/ Medisoft Clinical/Practice Choice, he is also acquainted with other types of voice-enabled transcription options, and the use of Dragon Medical in remote and web-based configurations. Don spends considerable time training physicians on the use of Dragon Medical within their EHR and developing customized macros, templates, shortcuts, recognition accuracy tools, and configuration optimization. Greg Julian Greg Julian has been the owner of Mouseketeers for over 12 years. Mouseketeers supports 500+ provider sites with Medisoft and is moving forward with Medisoft Clinical. We have completed approximately 70 lab results and ten outbound orders interfaces for our friends in the VAR community. This would include five custom outbound orders for lab companies other than LabCorp. In addition, we have successfully completed immunization interfaces for about ten states.
2 Amit Lal Amit Lal is co-founder of EconoServe Solutions, LLC. Since starting EconoServe in the fall of 2009, Amit has focused exclusively towards serving clients in the healthcare providers segment. Mark Mancini Mark Mancini started Twisted Technologies 12 years ago and maintains a Microsoft Gold Partnership status as well as a Medisoft Platinum reseller and Achievement Club winner. Twisted Technologies builds integrated technologies for Medisoft and performs data imports and exports for clients and other VARs. The development of the new isuperbill for v18 is our newest accomplishment. Lewis Myers Lewis Myers is President and CEO of LPM Technologies, Inc. After 14 years of serving on active duty in the US Air Force flying C141 Startlifters, he was injured and retired after Desert Storm. He then started LPM Technologies reaching out to his second love, computers. He has been a Medisoft VAR for over 18 years and was one of the first Charter Platinum Dealers in the nation. He currently sits on the Medisoft VAR Advisory Board and is certified in Medisoft, Practice Partner, Medisoft Clinical, and Revenue Management. He specializes in database recovery and repairs in all version of Medisoft including DOS and is over all hardware, Medisoft Clinical, and Revenue Management installations and configurations. With almost two decades of Medisoft experience Lewis is dedicated to the growth and success of LPM Technologies and all Medisoft products. Carrie Myers Carrie left her position as an IS Administrator for a multimillion dollar OB/GYN clinic in Greenville, South Carolina to join the LPM Technologies team in After joining LPM she took over customer support for Medisoft Practice Management and Medinotes. Now eight years later, Carrie is the VP of LPM Technologies and specializes in implementation and support of all Medisoft products. She has extensive knowledge of medical billing and claims submission with detailed knowledge of ANSI 5010 and Revenue Management. She also specializes in all things EMR/ EHR from implementing and training Medisoft Clinical to attesting for Meaningful Use. When Carrie isn t working you will find her spending time with her four children or watching her beloved Carolina Gamecocks play football. Carrie believes strongly in the value of hard work and she is dedicated to the success of LPM Technologies and the success of all Medisoft products! Loree Olsen Loree Olsen has worked for AZCOMP Technologies, Inc. for the past 11 years. AZCOMP Technologies, Inc. is a Diamond VAR for both Medisoft and Lytec located in Gilbert, Arizona. Loree oversees the EHR training and implementation department for AZCOMP where she has assisted in over 100 Medisoft Clinical/ Lytec MD/Practice Partner EHR implementations. In addition to working directly with clients to configure their EHR, train the staff, and go live, she is responsible for designing AZCOMP s implementation and project management plans, training new trainers, and creating documentation and education materials. Loree is also a member of the Medisoft VAR Advisory Board. Mike Penna Mike Penna is a Healthcare Industry Solutions Expert with over 27 years of leadership experience and numerous industry and business awards as well as many speaking engagements. Mike s experiences include PMS/EMR/RCM Sales, Regional and National Territory Sales and Marketing Management, Team Building, VAR Development Manager, Inspirational Business Speaking, CEO and President of CHS, a leading national healthcare solutions provider. Michael Salib Michael Salib joined Microwize Technology in 2007, starting in sales from the California office before switching to technical support that same year. A little while later, he joined the implementation team as an EHR Specialist. Having served on the Medisoft VAR Advisory Board for some time, Michael was promoted to Technical Support Manager in When he s not coordinating with his support team or assisting Microwize s clients, Michael spends his time creating procedures and making sure that their team is trained and able to handle anything that comes their way and of course the ultimate goal is the success of Microwize. Kris Shay Kris Shay is a Physician Advocate for HealthCare Data Systems in Wisconsin, where she has worked for six years. She is the Lead Implementation Specialist for large practices and specializes in Orthopedic/Neuro surgery as well as Sports Medicine. Within the last year, Kris has taken on an additional role in sales, bringing knowledge of the medical field and previous implementations to sales prospects. This has proven to be positive in sales and workflow discussions. She is also bringing that same knowledge to business development decisions within HealthCare Data Systems. 3 Bill Stanford Bill Stanford is CEO of Stanford Technology, Inc., which began in 1995 as a father-son duo company for Practice Partner software and support. Bill took over the company in 2005/2006 with a client base of only approximately 8 customers. Since then he has grown the company to include 80+ customers, has won multiple awards, attended the VAR Achievement Club for the past three years, has become part of numerous McKesson Advisory Boards and groups, and has become known across the country with both VARs as well as clients for his dedication to providing excellent support and services at Stanford Technology Inc. Justin Tichy Justin has been fortunate to be in the HIT industry selling EMR and PM software for almost eight years. He is currently the director of sales and marketing at Stanford Technology. Justin began his career in Healthcare Technology at Practice Partner as a market account representative and quickly moved into an inside sales position. After the McKesson acquisition he had multiple roles within the sales organization with his last role being a field sales representative for the West Coast territory. At Stanford Technology, Justin is responsible for lead generation, software presentations and contract negotiations. Lynette Torres Lynette Torres has been in the medical profession for over 30 years, for the past 17 years she has been employed with M E Computer Systems, a One McKesson Value Added Reseller Lynette started her carrier with M E Computer Systems answering telephones; she quickly advanced, becoming a software support specialist and later the software support manager. Under Lynette s management, M E Computer Systems Support Department won the 2011 Support Excellence Award by McKesson. She is currently the Chief Operations Officer for M E Computer Systems. She is certified in Medisoft, Medisoft Clinical, Practice Partner and McKesson Practice Choice. She has been a Medisoft Advisory Board Member for nine years and has been a speaker at several McKesson VAR Summits. Katee Woffinden Katee Woffinden is the Chief Marketing Officer at AZCOMP Technologies. Katee has worked at AZCOMP since 2002 when she was first hired as an office assistant. Last year AZCOMP won McKesson s Marketing Award and is the first and only VAR to sell over $1,000,000 of McKesson Software. Katee is going to share real life marketing strategies and tips that are sure to help your business. Catherine Caz Zuniga, CMA-AAMA, RPT Caz received her certification as a Certified Medical Assistant and Radiological Tech. from the Davis Applied Technology College. She has been a Practice Partner user since 2002 when she began working at Davis Family Physicians in Layton, Utah as a Nursing Supervisor. In 2005 her position changed to EMR System Administrator due to her interest in using the Practice Partner program. Caz helped her clinic launch the set-up of a Bi-Directional interface with their local reference lab as well as become active with the PPRNet MS-Trip and ABX-Trip studies. She has spoken at past UGMs and has held 2 local UGM and several educational meetings to help teach and support the clinics in our local area. In November 2011, she accepted a position with Clyde Bennett & Associates as a Medical Software Advisor, where she now has the opportunity to share her knowledge of the Practice Partner program with other clinics. She enjoys working with a wide variety of clinics across the US and sharing what she has learned about the program as well as learning from them. User and Guest Speakers Susan Andrews, MD Susan Andrews, MD is the physician champion for Family Practice Partners, a four physician group in Murfreesboro, TN. The group implemented Practice Partner in 2000, joined PPRNet in 2003, and participated as a demonstration site for TransforMED and the AAFP in Family Practice Partners is now a NCQA Level III patient-centered medical home (PCMH). At the national level, Dr. Andrews has given talks on quality, EHR implementation and practice change as well as helped write EHR articles. Bruce Bagley Bruce Bagley, MD, FAAFP, currently serves as the Medical Director for Quality Improvement for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), as well as for TransforMED, a wholly owned subsidiary of the AAFP. TransforMED provides ongoing consultation and support to physicians as they seek to implement the patient-centered medical home model (PCMH) of care in their practices. The AAFP represents 100,300 family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students nationwide. Bagley has served as president and board chair of the AAFP in the past. During his 28-year practice career, Bagley provided the full range of family medicine services in a single specialty family medicine group practice in Albany, NY. Under his leadership, the ten physician group was a well-known pioneer in the community in adapting to the challenges of managed care, quality improvement, informatics, and patient-centered care. Bagley s current responsibilities with the AAFP include liaison work with other national organizations in the quality arena. He actively participates in the development, deployment, and implementation of performance measures. He has been an effective national advocate for the importance of primary care as the foundation of a redesigned U.S., health care system. Bagley has spoken extensively on the topics of performance measurement, patient-centered medical home, office redesign, electronic health records, and leadership. From 2005 to 2007, he served as a Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award examiner. Tripp Bradd, MD Floyd Tripp Bradd, III, M.D., F.A.A.F.P. has been in practice since He graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed his residency at the UNC family medicine program in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Floyd started using Practice Partner in He developed and administers the Practice Partner User Database web application for Practice Partner end-users to network with each other. This site also has a LISTSERV, File Sharing Site and hopes to soon have an e-commerce solution for users to interact with VARs and other service providers. Since August 2010, Tripp has been appointed to and served on the Quality Measures Workgroup for the Policy Committee for ONC- HIT (HHS). Mitch Brown Mitch Brown is the Business Development Manager for Equisys, Inc. He works closely with practices to streamline the process of sending documents with Equisys suite of document management and delivery solutions. He will be speaking on Equisys ZetaFax solution. Mitch has over years 12 years of experience in the fax software industry, most of which have been spent working with healthcare organizations. He graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing.
4 Kristen Dutter Kristen Dutter has been working with the Practice Partner system for the past four years at a family practice office in Ripon, CA. The office has three full-time physicians and three part-time physician assistants. The practice uses the full Practice Partner suite: Appointment Scheduling, Patient Records and Medical Billing. Additionally, the practice uses Surescripts, Zoom, and has a lab interface with Quest. Kristen is continually re-evaluating processes and looking for ways to use the program more efficiently. Jaron Fishbeck, MD Upon completing his residency, Jaron Fischbeck, M.D. joined Dr. Mullins and Kachina Family Practice as it went live with Practice Partner in Over the next two years he created 245 primary care note templates in hopes to improve documentation efficiency and accuracy. He is big fan of real-time documentation using his touch screen Fujitsu laptop. He and Dr. Mullins have had several speaking engagements to demo Practice Partner to practices interested in buying the EHR. Dr. Fischbeck has also worked as a consultant to other practices that have struggled with Practice Partner adoption. He and his wife are natives to Phoenix and are blessed to have five wonderful children. In any remaining free time he enjoys backpacking, snowboarding and his new hobby of scuba diving. Silvana Henley Silvana Henley has been in the healthcare IT sector for over 19 years. As a leader of electronic health record form development, she has been responsible for design, development, testing, and deployment of EMR applications. She has a strong understanding of patient care workflows and healthcare terminology. Silvana is experienced to work across functional boundaries with different groups to ensure consistency within the EMR functions while also addressing interoperability with EMR application. She is the lead developer and Clinical Applications Analyst for HealthPoint Medical Group in Tampa, Florida, one of the largest medical groups in the Tampa Bay region, with over 100 physicians in more than 30 locations. Silvana graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.S. in Management Information Systems and a Minor in Economics with a Gold Seal Endorsement scholarship from the Florida Department of Education. Gail McHugh Gail McHugh is the Director of Physician Enterprises at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster Maryland. While Gail has been at Carroll Hospital Center for just over a year, she has spent the last 5 years working with Physician Offices and implementing or working with a variety of Electronic Medical Record solutions in the office setting to include Cerner s Powerchart, GE Centricity, Nexgen, and McKesson s Practice Partner. Gail started her career as a Medical Technologist, a Blood Bank Manager, and an inspector for accredit ting agencies such as the College of American Pathologist, FDA, and the Joint Commission. She moved into the Electronic world and has been working with clinical software since More recently Gail has joined the Advisory Board for McKesson s Practice Partner Solution and has successfully installed and maintained this product in over 22 practices covering 10 different specialties with a total of 54 providers. Gail will be telling her story about how to turn Practice Partner into a stable and well liked office solution, where providers are more efficient and accurate in their documentation and the office staff smiles at you when you walk in the door! Brian Mizell Brian Mizell is McKesson Corporation s former national healthcare consultant of the year for With 20 years of healthcare experience, he specializes in EMR systems, clinical/operational workflow expertise, system configuration optimization, revenue cycle management, and disease state management. In 2010, he founded HealthMagic, a consulting company designed to drive EMR adoption in the physician community. Currently he is working with BayCare Health System and their large multi-specialty physician groups located in Tampa, FL. Paul Morris Paul A. Morris is vice president business intelligence and chief technology officer for McKesson Revenue Management Solutions (RMS). Mr. Morris oversees the delivery of all internal and external reporting solutions for RMS and manages the delivery of several web applications. In addition, he serves as the business group s Chief Technology Officer, overseeing all technology strategy and infrastructure. He has 30 years of software industry career experience, including key leadership positions in software development, strategic account management, business/channel development, internet security, and professional services. Mr. Morris continues to serve on several technology advisory and customer advisory boards and is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he holds a Bachelor of Science in Information and Computer Science. Janet Mullins, MD Janet Mullins, M.D. is President and Administrator of Kachina Family Practice in Phoenix, Ariz. She has been in private practice since 1988 and began practice in Arizona in The practice has been using the full Practice Partner suite since August Dr. Mullins is involved extensively in workflow and EHR integration in the practice, which was able to be paperless within a year of going live. Dr. Mullins enjoys spending time with her husband and family, including twin boys, their wives and five grandchildren. She is on the faculty of University of Arizona School of Medicine Phoenix Campus where she teaches 1st and 2nd year medical students doctoring. She also enjoys ice skating, skiing, traveling, reading mysteries and gourmet cooking. Bernard Pegis, MD Bernard Pegis, MD has been in practice since He graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 2002 and completed his residency at Mercy Family Medicine at St. Johns Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. Bernard has been writing software since the age of 10, worked at IBM at 16, was hired on as the Associate Director of Computer Systems at his undergrad alma mater (Thomas Aquinas College) and then went to medical school. In solo practice in Wisconsin, he wrote a basic EMR which he used until 2008 when he joined Skyline Family Practice in Front Royal, Virginia where he currently practices with Drs. Tripp Bradd and Barbara Bernard. He has been using Practice Partner since joining Skyline Family Practice and continues to write software including FASText, PedDrugDose, ssdate, Appointment QReator and others. Bernard and Tripp also own Caduceus Digital Systems, a software company dedicated to digital solutions for health care professionals. Page 4
5 Randy Rickard, MD Randall Rickard graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Duke University Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine with Alpha Omega Alpha honors and completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of South Carolina at Charleston. He has been in practice for 31 years with his wife Susan Andrews in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. A Practice Partner user since 2000, their practice (Family Practice Partners) was one of the original 36 practices in the AAFP National Demonstration Project ( ). They were recognized as a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home by NCQA in Dr. Rickard has three grown children and enjoys a hobby of gardening in his spare time. MaryBeth Marie Shively MaryBeth Marie Shively received undergraduate degrees in Biological Sciences and Global Health at Arizona State University. She is working toward her Masters in Public Health degree at Michigan State University and upon its completion next year she will enter the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State for the class of Her current role as a patient care coordinator for a family practice in Novi, Michigan has challenged her to meet the demands of many patients with complex chronic disease. The goal of her work as a chronic care coordinator is to monitor uncontrolled chronic diseases through various interventions with the assistance of patient registries available with the electronic medical record. Mike Smith Mike Smith is the Partner Sales Manager at NexTrust Inc, which is a technology company focused on services related to billing and payments. Mike has been with NexTrust for 5 years promoting BillFlash through partner relationships. Previously he worked for McKesson selling Medisoft, Lytec and related services. NexTrust is located in Park City, UT, and is a valued partner of McKesson PPS together delivering BillFlash services that are integrated into many of the PPS billing solutions. Donald Stewart, MD Donald Stewart, M.D. started a solo Family Practice from scratch in a semi-rural area after he finished his residency in The practice was sold to Swedish Hospital in 2003, and he remained there as medical director of the clinic until July 2007, when he moved back into a solo Micro Practice focusing on primary care for patients with diabetes and lipid problems, located in the basement of his house. Don has used computers since he started practicing, but didn t use an EMR until He has used Practice Partner since 2001 and has been paperless since With no paid employees, he relies extensively on the workflow efficiencies of Practice Partner to keep his practice running. He likes to play with computers and enjoys teaching physicians how to use them more effectively. Jennie VonBriesen Jennie VonBriesen is a Senior Application Analyst in the Physician Enterprise group at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster Maryland. Jennie has been working for Carroll Hospital for about nine months, but has over 15 years of experience with physician office practices and software. Jennie started her career as a Medical Technologist specializing in Chemistry and Blood Bank. Today, her specialty is physician documentation where she has the unique ability to make a template work for almost any provider no matter the specialty. Jennie has had extensive experience with Cerner s Powernote and Powerchart product for physicians. Jennie also has a strong programming background and so she was able to leverage Crystal report writing to assist with report needs that continue to grow daily. Camie Wiles Camie Wiles is from York Hospital in York, Maine. She has been working in the medical field for over a decade at Webhannet Internal Medicine Associates of York Hospital and has been a Total Practice Partner user for the past 5 years. She combines her experience with billing and workflow evaluation to effectively guide the 16 multi-specialty practices which includes more than 50 providers within the York Hospital system through the implementation process. Camie has dedicated the past year to working with all levels of staff to help the hospital s physician practices achieve Meaningful Use. With constant monitoring of the Metric Reports, Camie works with staff on a daily basis to identify areas that may need correction and highlights those areas that are exceeding expectations. Camie is the mother of two young boys and in her limited free time enjoys restoring furniture and designing crafts and home décor pieces. She is also an avid gardener and farmer, raising goats, sheep and chickens at her home in Kittery, Maine. Chris Yensen Since 2002 Chris has served in many roles at Portneuf Medical Center, most recently as Director of Operations and Informatics for the Medical Practice Division. His primary role is providing leadership and oversight for the overall clinical operations and implementation and training of all information technology projects for the Medical Practice Division. Daily activities will include leadership, planning, organizing, developing and implementing strategies, as well as effective delegation and mentoring in a participative environment. Robert Zaid, DO Robert R. Zaid, DO is a family physician and partner at PrimeCare of Novi located in the suburbs of Michigan. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his medical degree from Michigan State University. He has a passion for healing and is very interested in using technology to manage the details that keep patients in the best health. Dr. Zaid has published articles in medical journals including one relating to electronic records and explains that physician and software programmers need to work together to produce the most efficient systems. Although, he has used technology to help his patients, he believes that good communication is essential to a great doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Zaid believes that as a physician, he has the opportunity to teach people and has delivered many lectures to the hospital and community. He has been on Good Morning America and has been asked to discuss hot topics in medicine for the local Detroit news stations. He is very excited to share his expertise he has regarding conditional logic with the Practice Partner users.
6 McKesson PPS Speakers Dave Abela Dave Abela started in Healthcare in 1992 working billing at a medical office for a year posting payments and working EOB s. In 1993, he began working for a Practice Partner VAR doing IT work; installing network infrastructure from the ground up including building their own systems and test environments. Dave then took over tech support for all products including Total Practice Partner and eventually purchased the business from the VAR to serve and manage the client base. Dave sold his VAR business and joined McKesson after the acquisition of Practice Partner. He is currently working on the Tier 3 STAT escalation team helping to resolve issues and work with identifying defects and give solutions to Tier 1 and 2 agents to better serve the user and VAR community. Rani Aravamudhan Rani Aravamudhan is Supervisor, Optimization Services for Practice Partner, but previously held an Implementation Consultant role. She has a breadth of knowledge on the Practice Partner application. Debra Baker Debra Baker is an Instructional Designer for the PPS Learning Academy and has been involved in organizational training and development for the past 15 years, with the last 6 years in the Healthcare field. She holds an M.Ed degree in Instructional Systems Design. She also held the position of Enterprise Implementation Consultant for Practice Partner before joining the Academy and was employed as a Training Manager with one of the largest physician network groups in southeast Michigan prior to that. Her expertise is in the design and development of curriculum, technical writing and documentation, and workflow analysis for process improvement. Doretha Barrera Doretha Barrera is an Implementation Consultant for Practice Plus who has been with McKesson for one year, but collectively has more than 19 years of experience in the medical industry; Billing and Coding/nursing/medical sales. Nikii Bond Nikii Bond, MA, MS is Technical Communications Analyst at PPS. She has been with McKesson for two years and in healthcare for 16 years. Nikii s experience includes business analysis, documentation, training, application development, design, and knowledge management roles in the pharmaceutical, medical school, and medical association industries. She currently manages knowledge contributions and helps develop strategies for PPS Central, PPS VAR Central, and PPS Customer Central, and also provides communications from PPS Support to employee, customer, and VAR channels. Jan Bradd, RN, BSN Jan Bradd, RN, BSN is a Nurse Manager for Skyline Family Practice. Jan has been the Nurse Manager for Skyline Family Practice since it s opening in 1994 when the office went live with an EMR. She has been active in implementing many initiatives within the office and has been an active participant with Practice Partner Research Network since its inception in Judy Brinkley Judy Brinkley, Implementation Consultant, has been with McKesson for three years, but in healthcare for more than 20 years. Focused on practice management and implementation, Judy s responsibilities include facilitation of product implementation, building and/or build support, providing consultative expertise regarding design and build options and to improve client outcomes. Multi-tasking across multiple project assignments, issue troubleshooting/resolution, and ensuring our clients are properly educated and trained. Judy possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and have a business degree with 20+ years experience in the medical industry. She has been working knowledge of a healthcare setting and understand hospital workflows focusing on the clinical which includes medical billing. Judy s primary responsibility is to facilitate successful implementation outcomes Nicole Buchanan Nicole Buchanan (Niki), MAEd. is Director of the Training Academy at the Physician Practice Solutions division of McKesson Corporation. She has been in the training arena since 1998 and the education field since She has worked with two of the leading EHR Software vendors in the industry and holds Certifications in Technical Training, EPIC (InPatient & Ambulatory) Certifications and online training. She has a Masters in Adult Education and Distance Learning as has also been a distance learner. Gail Burton Gail Burton is an Implementation Consultant for McKesson Technology Solutions. She has thirty years experience in healthcare, focusing on practice management and system implementation the past five years. Gail is a Certified Medical Assistant and has been since the 1980 s. She also holds a certificate in Practice Management from American Academy of Medical Management. Gail is accomplished in both clinical, clerical and administration aspects of healthcare, Medical Assistant training and IT PM/EMR consulting. Harry Callier Harry has been an Implementation Consultant with McKesson for two years. He has eight years experience in EHR implementations with McKesson and other EHR solutions. Harry brings both a clinical medical background and IT experience to the implementation team. He honed his IT skills as a client services representative with Coca-Cola Enterprises supporting their sales, marketing and executive team. He has occupied various positions on the clinical side of the healthcare field such as Respiratory Therapist and Pathological lab assistant. Therefore, he brings experience to both sides of our EHR solutions. Harry holds a BS in Management Information Systems from Kennesaw State University. Alex Cameron Alex Cameron joined McKesson PPS from McKesson s Provider Technology business in which he worked in various positions. In his 11 year tenure with McKesson, he has held positions such as Software Engineer, Development Manager, and Professional Services Team Lead. Alex most recently worked as a Solution Architect in which he developed Interoperability strategies between Horizon Patient Folder (now called McKesson Document Imaging) and Meditech, EPIC, GE/IDX, Eclipsys, Cerner as well as 30 McKesson applications that may exist at various healthcare facilities. 7 Emily Cataldo Emily joined McKesson as one of three sales representatives facilitating the initial launch of McKesson Practice Choice. As the Practice Choice Account Manager, Emily is responsible for promoting overall customer satisfaction and success with the solution. By building strong relationships and acting as the primary point of contact, Emily works to establish reference sites throughout the Practice Choice community. Tim Caver Tim Caver is Vice President of McKesson Practice Care, an initiative he designed to improve small physician practice vitality in the current dynamic healthcare environment. Prior to accepting this role, Tim was the Vice President of Strategy and Business Development within the Ambulatory Business Unit of McKesson Provider Technologies which provides practice management, electronic health records and connectivity to the payors for physician s offices throughout the United States. There, Tim s primary responsibilities included strategy development for McKesson s physician office segment as well as forging partnerships and acquisitions. Tim has been with McKesson since September of 2003 but transitioned to McKesson s technology Division in April of Calvin Chaney Calvin Chaney, Support Analyst, has been with McKesson for more than four years. His responsibilities include mentoring other support representatives and handling escalations as a member of the STAT team. Calvin also manages the eprescribing clearinghouse database, Web View, and tech support datacenter. Kathleen Collins Kathleen Collins, EMR/Practice Management and Billing Demo Consultant, has been with McKesson for 16 years and in healthcare for 26 years. Ms. Collins graduated cum laude from Viterbo University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. She is a member of MGMA (Medical Group Management Association and has served in various leadership and education roles in the Healthcare Industry. Currently, Kathleen assists the sales team in providing remote and onsite demonstrations of Practice Plus, Practice Partner, McKesson Practice Focus, Business Objects and McKesson Practice Choice. Sandra Collins Sandra Collins, Professional Services Consultant, has been with McKesson for nearly two years and in healthcare for more than 16 years. Her career in health care began in the customer service department of a large multi-specialty provider group and then next working in Secondary Billing. During this time she used the precursor to the windows based system which has become Practice Plus. When she was transitioning from C950 to Practice Point Plus 3.0, she became a super-user to assist with testing and training in the new windows based system. After this time, Sandra transitioned to new positions which were necessitated by company growth, industry and practice management system changes; these included: Business Office Trainer, Database Management Specialist, Report Writer/Analyst, and Supervisor of Technology Services. The last nine years prior to joining McKesson, one of her primary responsibilities was starting up new customers in Practice Plus as our organization had become a billing company for provider groups across the United States. In her current role at McKesson, Sandra is responsible for implementing Practice Plus in customer practices. Robin Cook Robin Cook has been a McKesson PPS employee for the last 3 years. She is an Education Consultant with the PPS Academy under the direction of Nicole Buchanan. Robin delivers education to clients on various Practice Plus and Online (Scheduling) applications. Her prior work experience was with a large multispecialty physician group, giving her valuable real life experience that she is able to incorporate into the education delivered to McKesson Practice Plus clients. She has recently started expanding her PPS knowledge into Practice Partner Medical Billing and will soon be able to deliver education on that product. Robin has been an MGMA member since 2006, earning her CMPE designation in Colleen Erickson For six years Colleen has worked with the Practice Plus practice management application, and most recently, the Practice Partner application in the Central Region of the United States. Her primary role is serving as the customer s main point of contact and being a conduit into McKesson, which has developed into loyal relationships within this region. Colleen s additional responsibilities include customer education and strategic planning to meet their current and future healthcare needs. Helmut Domagalski Helmut Domagalski, Director McKesson Practice Choice EHR, has been with McKesson for nearly three years and in healthcare for 15 years. Helmut joined McKesson from GE Healthcare where he most recently served as the CardioVascular IT Operations, Strategy, and PACS Leader. Previously, he held various Global, European, and Americas roles with GE in Product Management, Marketing, Sales and Services. Key accomplishment include the globalization of GE s hospital CardioVascular specialty EHR and developing a web-based Cardiovascular Imaging system. Helmut holds a Biomedical Engineering degree from Texas A&M and an MBA from Kellogg Northwestern. He is currently responsible for the product management and roadmap for McKesson Practice Choice EHR. Kevin Gudenkauf Kevin Gudenkauf, Senior Technical Engineer, has been with McKesson for 27 years. He has held many positions within McKesson during his long tenure in which he started as a software engineer (programmer). Kevin has also been a supervisor/manager and member of the account management team before transitioning into the technical engineer position. In his current role, he is responsible for new client installs, upgrading current customers to the latest release of Practice Plus, internal testing for new releases and optimizing our customer experience with the Practice Plus and Practice Partner products. John Hermsen John Hermsen, Enterprise Support Manager has 16 years experience with McKesson, nearly 15 of which working directly with the Practice Plus product and customers. John has a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and over 15 years of Customer Support experience. His current responsibilities are managing the Practice Plus application and technical teams. Lisa Hite Lisa Hite, Product Manager, has been with McKesson for three years, however has a total of 15 years experience in healthcare management. Lisa started her career right out of college, at the front desk of a 5 physician, 3 office practice. She has experiences in all aspects of the front office, back office, and administration of physician offices, surgery centers, hospital based physicians, and billing services. She has worked with startup clinics, single provider offices, and 60+ national service locations with 350+ physicians. Lisa s current responsibilities include product management for Medisoft, Lytec, and Revenue Management.
8 Jeff Kassmir Jeff is originally from northern Minnesota and lived there for more than 40 years before moving to Arizona where he eventually became an employee of PerSe (later acquired by McKesson). Jeff has been with McKesson for more than five years doing EDI support for Medisoft, Lytec, Revenue Management, Concept, and Claims Manager. He is currently engaged to marry and outside of work, enjoys bowling as a recreational and social event. Chad Kossel Chad Kossel, Sales Territory Executive, has been with McKesson for nearly eight years. Previously, Chad was a Manager, IT Infrastructure at a Dermatology clinic where he maintained billing and A/R via Medisoft for five years. He is currently responsible for all sales needs (including pricing, quoting, and demonstrations) for McKesson EHR solutions in the VAR Channel for the West territory. Paul Lewis Paul Lewis, Director of PPS Documentation, has been with McKesson for 27 years. He has previously served as a technical writer, manger of a group of technical writing teams, and director of software development. Currently he is responsible for the direction of the technical writers who prepare customer-facing documentation for the McKesson Practice Choice, Practice Partner, Medisoft, Lytec, and Practice Plus products. Thomas Lippstock Thomas Lippstock, Education Consultant/Implementations Specialist has been with McKesson for 19 years. His current responsibilities include training and other services related to the Practice Plus solution. Rex Lloyd Rex Lloyd provides certification workshop training for VARs, end-users and McKesson employees. He designs, trains and manages product certification for Medisoft, Lytec, Practice Partner Medical Billing, Patient Records, Revenue Management and RelayHealth. Rex has been with McKesson for three years and was a communications technician at AT&T for 15 years prior to joining McKesson. Karla Lutzi Karla Lutzi, Professional Services Consultant, has a vast range of experience with Healthcare Revenue Cycle, working in the industry now for more than 30 years. She spent the first years working in the Business Office, moving on to manage the Revenue Cycle and staff for both the inpatient and ambulatory space, and held a System Analyst position, all for a multispecialty group in Southeastern Minnesota. She joined the McKesson PPS Team in 2005, assisting the services team on new implementations as well as customers across the country with Revenue Cycle enhancements. When not working, Karla loves to spend time outdoors, enjoying a round of golf, fishing or spending time with family and friends. Heather McComic As a member of the McKesson PPS team since 2006, Heather serves Practice Plus and Practice Plus/Practice Partner customers primarily based in the Western and Southern regions. As Senior Account Manager, she acts as the customer s primary contact and holds responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction, long-term success through strategic planning, and relationship management. Heather was a Plus Education Consultant for two years before becoming a member of the account management team in Prior to McKesson, Heather held various roles as a Plus customer, including Revenue Cycle Insurance Manager and Education/Training Director which provided both practical and functional experience in both practice management and EMR systems. Heather has more than 15 years experience in Healthcare and recently obtained her CMPE certification. Brian McSperrin Brian McSperrin is a Website Administrator with the McKesson PPS Academy. His 22 years at McKesson have mainly focused on customer and sales support for PPS specializing in system, website and project administration and development. His current primary responsibilities include administration of the PPS Learning Center, PPS VAR and Customer Central and the Interactive Sales Demo. David Meier David, Meier, CMPE, Account Manager, has been with McKesson for two and a half years, but has 10 years total experience in Healthcare. He spent his previous seven and half years as a project manager for a physician owned clinic. David currently manages 36 Practice Plus and 2 Practice Partner accounts for the McKesson PPS. He helps each of his customers get the most out of the McKesson applications they are using at each of their locations. He provides information to help them plan for the future and assist them in meeting their goals and objectives. Mick Meitner Mick Meitner, Technical Project Manager, has been with McKesson for three years. He has nine years of Healthcare experience where he was previously a Practice Plus Systems Admin at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Milwaukee, WI. With McKesson, Mick is responsible for customer upgrades and implementations for Practice Plus. He also helps customers with automation, data loads, and other system related tasks as needed. Michael Midgette Michael joined McKesson as one of three sales representatives facilitating the initial launch of McKesson Practice Choice. Since then he has continued his role as a direct sales representative, but has also taken on the role of Practice Choice Sales Specialist. Michael promotes Practice Choice around the country and works with VARs to assist in the sales process, among other responsibilities. Page 8
9 Molly Miles Executive Director of Marketing for PPS, Molly recently joined the PPS team from McKesson US Pharma s AccessHealth business in Columbus, Ohio, where she led the business unit s marketing and communications for ten years. During Molly s tenure with AccessHealth, she drove the marketing strategy that grew the membership by over 200%, was recognized as runner-up for the President s Award for the launch of McKesson Reimbursement Advantage, and served on the marketing team that launched HealthMart, now one of the largest independently-owned pharmacy franchises, nationwide. Prior to joining McKesson, Molly was the director of marketing for a Columbus-based marketing and advertising agency, and the manager of national partnerships for The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. Glee Nordquist Glee Nordquist, Database Administrator has been with McKesson for seven years. He currently supports customers on the Lytec MD, Medisoft Clinical and Practice Partner product lines with issue resolution and database problems. Rebecca Paul Rebecca Paul has worked in the medical arena for 19 years in various rolls. Currently, she specializes in consulting and implementation of clinical systems including EMRs, appointment scheduling, template building, order entry, e-prescribing, Zoom, Zetafax, Web View, Meaningful Use, and Dragon voice recognition. This includes workflow analysis and redesign, planning, education, policy and procedure development. Noah Peczeli bio still to come Tony Peterson Tony Peterson graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor s of Science in Economics. He has spent more than 12 years in the healthcare industry working with Medisoft and Lytec products. Tony s career began in the support department where he spent five years supporting Medisoft and Lytec resellers. He also spent time working on the Medisoft and Lytec Knowledge Bases. Tony trained users on effective utilization of Medisoft and Lytec and also held the role of Product Manager for the Medisoft and Lytec systems prior to accepting his current role of Senior Marketing Manager, a title which he has held for a year. At home, Tony and his wife Monika have four sons who keep them very busy but bring them great joy. Jim Reynolds Jim Reynolds, Executive Director Product Management - Practice Partner, has been with McKesson for seven years and in healthcare for 29 years. Jim is responsible for the overall product direction of Practice Partner. He has spent his career in healthcare operations and financial management. David Ruther David Ruther, Interface Analyst, has been with McKesson for three years. His responsibilities include implementing and managing a variety of Interface projects, working with several different vendors as well as providing training to clients and their staff on maintenance and daily use. Susan Sambets Susan Sambets, Enterprise Implementation Consultant for Practice Partner has been with McKesson for three years as well as 15 years of combined experience in Medical Office Management, Implementation Training and Development, EMR/PMS Training and Project Management. Susan s current responsibilities include System Implementation, Clinical Workflow Analysis, Application Training, Go Live support and Optimization. Bill Sillar Bill Sillar is the Manager of the demo team where he performs deep dive EHR demos for prospective customers. This will be Bill s sixth year working for McKesson where he started as an Implementation Consultant, and later with the creation of the PPS Academy in 2009, Bill became a member of the Academy. Michelle Sporleder Michelle Sporleder is a graduate of Truman State University with a dual degree in Business and English. She has worked in the healthcare industry for 16 years, 12 of which in billing and management in her husband s family practice clinic (and yes he utilizes Practice Partner). Michelle currently works for McKesson as a member of the product management team. She drives improvements in McKesson Practice Choice Medical Billing and McKesson s EDI solutions, with previous experience in the Practice Partner Medical Billing application. Niel Stout Niel R Stout, Sr. Project Manager has been with McKesson for 21 years and in the healthcare industry for 32. Neil has managed system implementations; worked on A/R and Revenue projects as both a consultant and as a manager or administrator of medical groups. Aaron Walters Aaron S. Walters, Technical Engineer, has been with McKesson for three years. Prior to his current McKesson role, he held a support analyst position. Before McKesson, he worked as a technical consultant and marketing rep at Microsoft. In his current role, Aaron is responsible for new installations\upgrades for Practice Partner\Lytec MD\Medisoft Clinical running on SQL, Oracle and Ctree Server, EMR Conversions, Database conversions, HL7 Interfaces, and Server migrations. Chris Wetzel Chris Wetzel recently moved to the role of VAR Product Support Specialist, responsible for VAR product demonstrations and certifications, assisting our business partners through best practices for selling the PPS product lines. Philip Wilson Philip Wilson is an education specialist for the McKesson Physician Practice Solutions Academy. He provides training, documentation, and self-paced courses for the Practice Partner and McKesson Practice Choice products. Philip has been with Practice Partner for 14 years in tech support, training, interfacing, and education roles.
