Micrsft Windws Hyper-V System Requirements SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V fr Hyper-V is a Virtual Machine Image designed t be imprted int specific supprted versins f Micrsft Windws Server. SCO cannt supprt custmers wh attempt t imprt SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V int versins f Micrsft Windws Server that are nt listed as supprted. The Micrsft Windws Server yu are imprting t will als need t meet certain resurce requirements in rder t supprt the installatin f SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V. These requirements are discussed belw. Micrsft Windws Server/Hyper-V Server Resurce Requirements The server yu are imprting int will need the fllwing in rder t successfully run SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V: A datastre with at least 8Gbytes f free disk space t hld the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V fr Hyper-V virtual machine. Nte that additinal disk space can be cnfigured fr yur virtual machine nce the imprt is cmplete. A Virtual Netwrk that can be used by the Legacy Netwrk Adapter cnfigured fr the OpenServer 5.0.7V fr Hyper-V Virtual Machine At least 256 Mbytes f free memry. Nte that the amunt f memry used by yur virtual machine can be increased nce the imprt is cmplete. The target system has enugh resurces (memry and CPU) t run the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V Virtual Machine. The persn imprting the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V Virtual Machine Image has a gd wrking knwledge f Micrsft Hyper-V. Yu have already btained a cpy f the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V ISO image Imprtatin f SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V fr Hyper-V will create a Virtual Machine with the fllwing specificatins:

On the Hyper-V Manager menu bar select Actin -> Imprt Virtual Machine 4. In the Imprt Virtual Machine windw that pps up use Brwse t lcate the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V Image extracted frm the zip file n the ISO image. 5. Click n Imprt t imprt the Virtual Machine Image nt yur server. Refer t yur Hyper-V dcumentatin fr an understanding f the setting ptins in this dialg bx. 6. Once the imprt is cmplete we recmmend that yu rename the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V Virtual Machine. T d this

9 Right click n the Virtual Machine yu have imprted Select Rename Enter the name yu want t assign t the Virtual Machine (e.g. sr507v_server1) and press Enter 7. Yur newly imprted Virtual Machine des nt have a Netwrk Adapter assigned t it yet. T assign a netwrk adapter: Right click n the Virtual Machine yu have imprted Select Settings Select Legacy Netwrk Adapter in the left hand side f the Settings Windw Select the Legacy Netwrk Adapter t use (e.g. vnet0) frm the drp dwn list Click n OK t cmplete the cnfiguratin. T pwer n the machine, n the Cnsle menu bar select Actin -> Start On the cnsle yu shuld nw press Enter t bt yur Virtual Machine. Yu are nw ready t cnfigure yur system. Bting SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V fr the first time The first time yu bt SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V, the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V Cnfiguratin Utility (/usr/sbin/guest_cnf) will run n the cnsle t take yu, step by step, thrugh the prcess f cnfiguring yur system. In this sectin we will take yu thrugh the prcess describing the ways in which yu can respnd t the prmpts f the Cnfiguratin Utility. Screen Enter the fully qualified dmain name t be used by yur MTA The Cnfiguratin Utility will nw re-link the kernel and autmatically rebt the system Registering yur SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V Virtual Machine Registratin f yur SCO OpenServer V prduct is mandatry. If yu d nt register yur prduct within 14 days f licensing it the system will be shut dwn. Registering yur prduct prvides the fllwing benefits: it allws SCO t autmatically ntify yu when yur license needs t be renewed it prtects yur investment in case f lss f license. Registering a prduct is a three-part prcess: 1. Use the License Manager t get the infrmatin yu need t register. 2. Visit the SCO OpenServer Registratin web page t btain a Registratin Key: 3. Use the License Manager again t enter the Registratin Key nt yur system. 16 Right click n yur SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V virtual machine Click n Snapsht Yu nw have a snapsht f yur installed and registered virtual machine that yu can revert. Renewing yur SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V License Yu will be ntified by and by warning messages n the Cnsle and in the System Lg (/var/adm/syslg) when yur SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V license is abut t expire. If yu wish t cntinue t use the prduct yu will need t purchase a renewal license and apply it t the system (ideally befre yur existing license expires).
