12 Current Unemployment Trends Average Unemployment for 2013 & 2014 According to the Denton Record Chronicle, Denton County unemployment rates continued to drop in December 2013, falling under 5%, based on new data from the Texas Workforce Commission. This 4.8% rate fell well below the state s rate of 6% and national rate of 6.7%.

39 Leveraging Tax $$$ So They Do More Work Denton County has been able to utilize innovative solutions to leverage its scarce tax dollars with singular success. EXAMPLE The County was able to turn an expenditure of $3 million in bond funds into a payment from the NTTA totaling $1.6 billion. That is a 534% return on our investment.

45 Length: 28 miles Estimated total cost of the project is $5 billion. Annual TxDOT Dallas District (7 counties) construction budget is approximately $500 million. Phase I started Fall 2013
46 IH-35E Ultimate - Funding Sources The $4.8 billion project is being constructed in two phases, the first of which will cost approximately $1.4 billion in federal, state, and local dollars, as well as toll fees collected from SH 121.
47 Funding needed for Phase I: $1.5 billion Phase I: Convert existing HOV lanes into reversible managed lanes to bring in additional revenue to fund the rest of the proposed project. Additional capacity will be added wherever possible along the corridor without purchasing additional right-of-way. Phase I construction: is scheduled to begin in October 2013 Phase II would begin after construction on Phase I is completed.

50 From Shiloh Road to IH-35W Right-of-way acquisition on this project is now complete, and utilities are working to relocate. The project let on March 6, 2013, and construction is scheduled to begin by March
51 From IH-35E to south of FM 1830 This project was environmentally cleared in April Engineers are working on design, and the project should be ready to let for construction in February 2015.

54 From West of Trophy Lake Drive to West of Trophy Club Drive Work on this project began in March 2011 and is scheduled to be completed on April 30, $33.3 million from Denton County RTR funds was utilized to fund this project. 58 From SH 170 to IH-35E Denton County hired HNTB in January 2011 to engineer the project. HNTB is coordinating the preliminary concept plan with stakeholders along the corridor. HNTB is developing revisions to the draft schematic submitted in July 2013, including refinements to managed lane and generalpurpose lane access.
