The Cncurrent Credit Prgram is a partnership between Lenawee Christian Schl and lcal clleges that seek t empwer high schl students tward academic success by intentinally structuring curricular fferings and faculty assignments s as t take advantage f the expanding dual enrllment pprtunities (affrded by changes in state law). Participatin in the prgram results in students ptentially earning up t 30 credit f hurs f transcripted high schl and cllege credit. What are the benefits t the Cncurrent Credit Prgram? A significant increase in the number f educatin ptins ffered t each student. Substantial savings in time and mney fr pstsecndary curses leading t a degree. Greater cllabratin between yur high schl and ur cllege partners. Pathways fr students t mve seamlessly beynd high schl Students can grw in their understanding f what will be expected f them as cllege students, ptentially increasing their cnfidence and helping them t navigate the transitin. Hw d I enrll in a Cncurrent Enrllment curse? See LCS s high schl cunselr wh can prvide infrmatin n qualificatins fr enrllment and curse pprtunities. Students must be pre-apprved befre enrlling in any cllege class under the cncurrent enrllment ptin. Students must meet qualificatins established by the State f Michigan. Curses will vary by trimester, and the numbers f students interested. Yu will need t submit the apprpriate applicatin with required signatures and FERPA frm. Where and when are classes taught? Specific cncurrent enrllment classes are available n the LCS campus thrughut the academic year as well as at Adrian Cllege and Siena Heights University. Curse lcatins will be cmmunicated t students and parents by the Guidance Office. Spring Arbr University ffers a selectin f nline curses available t LCS students at prescribed times thrughut the year. Wh teaches cncurrent enrllment curses? All cncurrent enrllment curses taught n the campus f Lenawee Christian Schl are taught by faculty with cllege-level teaching credentials teaching frm a biblical wrldview. These instructrs have been mutually apprved f by bth Lenawee Christian Schl leadership and the administratin f the cllege r university. The curses ffered n the campus f each cllege are taught by the cllege s r university s prfessinal staff.

2 Can internatinal r exchange students enrll in the Cncurrent Enrllment classes? Even thugh these classes are nt cvered by the State Treasury, the cst fr cncurrent enrllment classes may be included in the tuitin fr internatinal students. Exchange students are nt currently able t participate. Internatinal students, please check with the Internatinal Prgram Crdinatr prir t enrlling fr yur class t determine eligibility. Can students frm Ohi participate in this prgram? Yes. Students must have at least ne parent r legal guardian wh is a resident f Michigan. Thse living utside f Michigan shall have a negtiated, reduced tuitin rate available t them frm the pstsecndary institutin. Is the cllege class mre rigrus than a typical class? As cllege-level instructin, cncurrent enrllment curses are rigrus curses that represent ne f the accelerated pprtunities by which high schl students can advance their curse f study and pstsecndary gals. Each curse will fllw a cllege textbk and a standardized syllabus prvided by the cllege. Students can expect a minimum f 135 student effrt hurs per curse. This translates int abut 6 hurs f hmewrk per week in a 3 credit class. Hw d I get my bks? Once students are registered fr the curse, bks will be delivered n the first day f class t LCS. These bks remain the prperty f the cllege. Thse students taking a curse n the cllege campus will purchase their bks in the Adrian Cllege r Siena Heights University bkstre. Bks purchased fr curses ffered n the cllege campus may be a reimbursable expense. Keep yur receipts and submit them t the LCS Guidance Office in Student Services. Textbks will nrmally be cvered in the csts cvered by the State f Michigan but it is imprtant t nte that any csts nt cvered by the State will becme the respnsibility f the parent r guardian f the student and nt Lenawee Christian Schl. Bks fr a Spring Arbr nline curse are included in the cst f the class and shuld be rdered nline per SAU instructins tw weeks befre the start f class. Will I have a cllege advisr? Cncurrent Enrllment students will cntinue t wrk with their high schl cunselr, Mrs. Patty Thmas. Any questins pertaining t Cncurrent Enrllment shuld be directed t LCS Student Services. The Registrar s Office at Adrian Cllege r Siena Heights University can als ffer assistance. Spring Arbr University will assign an admissins representative t assist yu thrughut yur cncurrent credit experience. Where will I park when visiting campus if my class is held n the cllege campus? Adrian Cllege: Parking is available alng the streets surrunding the Adrian Cllege campus. Students may purchase a parking pass frm the Safety Office lcated in the Caine Student Center if they wish t park in the Adrian Cllege lts. Siena Heights: Students may park n the streets r in the parking lcated next t the Field Huse r ftball field. When students attend rientatin, university staff will prvide students with a free parking permit. Students will be respnsible fr the financial bligatins assciated with but nt limited t transprtatin and parking fees. LCS will nt prvide transprtatin fr cncurrent enrllment.

3 The law prtects LCS, the state, and the cllege frm liability assciated with any injury incurred by a student that is related t transprtatin necessary fr participatin in pstsecndary enrllment. What resurces can I utilize n campus? Cncurrent Enrllment students will fill ut the Adrian Cllege, Spring Arbr University r the Siena Heights applicatin. Please highlight yur enrllment in the Cncurrent Enrllment Prgram n this applicatin. All resurces are available in the Student Services ffice at LCS. In additin, Spring Arbr University requires that a student enrlling in their nline classes be a junir r senir with a GPA f at least 3.2 r an ACT scre f 21. Will my high schl receive my transcripts? Adrian Cllege autmatically sends transcripts t the high schl cunseling ffices at the end f each semester. Siena Heights sends an unfficial grade t the LCS Guidance Office. An fficial transcript will need t be rdered and submitted t the LCS Guidance Office by cmpleting a transcript request fund by clicking n this link r stpping by the SHU Registrar s Office. Transcripts requested directly frm the Siena Heights Registrar are free. Hw d I btain fficial transcript frm the cllege? It is imperative that all students understand that grades earned in the Cncurrent Credit Prgram becme part f their permanent pstsecndary academic recrd. In the guide fr Cllege Bund Student Athletes, the NCAA requires that all curses used fr cllegiate eligibility must indicate a grade and be calculated in the student s high schl GPA. This pertains nly t Divisin I and II athletes. Adrian Cllege If an fficial transcript is needed, a transcript request frm can be fund nline r in the Registrar s Office. There is n fee fr this transcript.

D the clleges have a GPA requirement fr cntinuing in the prgram? A 2.0 r C in each curse is required fr cntinual enrllment. If a curse has a pre-requisite, d I have t fulfill that requirement? Pre-requisites are determined t be crucial t success in a curse. They must be met t enrll in a curse. In additin, sme curse may require an assessment t determine yur placement in the curse. See yur cunselr fr details n hw yu can demnstrate meeting a pre-requisite r taking an assessment. Why shuld I sign the Family Educatinal Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) frm? Clleges and universities are nt allwed t discuss with parents the status f their child r guardians wrk unless permissin is given. As Cncurrent Enrllment classes are cllege classes ffered by Adrian Cllege and Siena Heights University, regardless f lcatin, adherence t this federal mandate needs t be met. By signing the frm yu are agreeing that yur parent(s) r guardian(s) may speak t the instructr and have access t yur perfrmance, such as grades. What curses are eligible fr the Cncurrent Enrllment Prgram? If yu desire a curse t be paid fr by the State Treasury, The curse must be nrmally applied tward the satisfactin f degree requirements AND is nt currently ffered by LCS in its high schl curriculum (as a graduatin requirement) unless an irreslvable scheduling cnflict beynd the student s cntrl has been determined by the Administratin. The curse cannt be in the subject f a hbby/craft, recreatin, physical educatin, thelgy, divinity, r religius educatin t qualify fr assistance frm the State. The curse can nly cunt fr high schl and cllege credit if it is cnsidered a nnessential elective curse. If yu desire t take a curse which is nt paid fr by the State Treasury, Yu may take any class that yu are eligible fr and pay the cllege an agreed upn tuitin rate Curses that are remedial r are nn-credit bearing d nt qualify. Is there a limit t the number f cncurrent credit curse I can take in high schl? Yes, a student shall be limited t 10 verall curses that are paid fr by the State Treasury. Students Entering 9 th grade student 9 th grade 2 curse limit per academic year 10 th grade 2 curse limit per academic year 11 th grade 2 curse limit fr the academic year 12 th grade 4 curse limit fr the academic year

Drps after the first week will require repayment f the curse tuitin. See the LCS Guidance Office regarding the curse repayment percentage. What happens if I fail a class? Students are required t repay fr all expenses if they stp attending r fail t successfully cmplete the curse What LMS (Learning Management System) will be used in my class? Curse n the LCS Campus - Mdle Curse n the Siena Heights University Campus- ecllege Curse n the Adrian Cllege Campus and Spring Arbr nline curses - Blackbard May I attend an evening class at Adrian Cllege r Siena Heights as part f this prgram? Yu may elect t take cllege curses during the schl day, in the evening r n weekends. Student Services can guide yu in this decisin making prcess. Summer classes are nt cvered under this plicy and are nt paid fr by the State f Michigan. What grading scales will be used in my cncurrent enrllment curse? All Cncurrent Enrllment instructrs will fllw the grading scale f the university r cllege that is ffering transcripted credit per the stipulatins utlined in each syllabus. Will cncurrent enrllment curses transfer t ther clleges and universities? Cncurrent enrllment cllege credit will transfer t the cllege r university where the student earned the dual enrllment credit. Hwever, if a student des nt, upn high schl graduatin, attend the same cllege r university where they earned the cncurrent enrllment credit, the applicatin f transfer credit t general educatin, prerequisite, and degree prgrams may vary at the receiving institutin.
