2 PAGE 2 REST-CLEAN PRO President s Message Hello Fellow PCUCA Members, It s amazing that summer is already over. I guess time flies when your busy, I hope your companies have been busy as well. Not only has my company been staying busy this summer with all the rain, but I have been busy attending PCUCA fun summer events. On Thursday July 9th PCUCA members had a great time at a Colorado Rockies Baseball game where they beat the Atlanta Braves. One great addition to the members attending the Rockies game this year was that we were able to sponsor two great families from the Ronald McDonald House in enjoying a night out from the stresses in their lives. What a great opportunity to really help out families who need a little extra in their lives right now. This is a tradition that we hope to be able to keep up in the years to come! We were all together again on Saturday August 8th for the PCUCA sponsored event, the Chatfield Reservoir BBQ. This was a great time including a BBQ, playing volleyball & horse shoes, and enjoying the outdoors. I hope everyone had a great time. Now its time to look forward to the amazing educational courses that PCUCA is able to host this fall in Denver. First, Larry Cooper is going to be teaching the Commercial Carpet Maintenance Contracts Workshop in October, which has now been approved for two IICRC Continuing Education Credits. I speak from experience when I say that this class has helped my company turn around its commercial operation 100%! I was able to take the tools that Larry taught in the course and the forms that I was able to purchase and apply them directly to my company for an easy and reliable system with my commercial contracts. We also have John Banta of Restoration Consultants coming in October to teach an exclusive advanced water damage course called Inspection & Preliminary Determination. This unique course will provide restorers and remediators with the training they need to inspect buildings and develop a preliminary determination consistent with the IICRC S500 and S520 and has also been approved for 2 IICRC CEC s. If you are already IICRC WRT certified and are looking for an advanced course in water damage this is the course for you! Lastly we are extremely fortunate in being able to bring Barry Costa back to Denver again for the IICRC RRT and WRT Certification Courses in November. Barry is in extremely high demand these days to teach around the country, this is an opportunity you should not pass up! 3 REST-CLEAN PRO PAGE 3 PCUCA News Continued PCUCA Members Attend Colorado Rockies Baseball Game July 9, 2009 PCUCA Members enjoyed a buffet dinner and Colorado Rockies Game on July 9, The Rockies took the win over the Braves 7 to 6! PCUCA had 70 members attend the game and sponsored two families from the Ronald McDonald House to have fun at a Rockies baseball game while staying in Denver. This is a new tradition the PCUCA hopes to host every summer! PCUCA Members BBQ at Chatfield Reservoir August 8, 2009 PCUCA had a great turnout with over 65 members attending the summer family fun event at the Chatfield Reservoir. Members enjoyed a free BBQ lunch courtesy of PCUCA, as well as volleyball and the game of horse shoes. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this event and we hope to do it again next year!

This workshop has been developed to help your company jumpstart your Commercial Carpet Maintenance Contracts. It will cover Building Relationships in the Commercial Carpet Maintenance Business, Developing the Operations of the Commercial Carpet Maintenance Business, and Commercial Carpet Maintenance Contract Sales. Appropriate documentation limits liability, helps to develop an accurate scope, and provides the basis to generate accurate and well documented invoices. 6 PAGE 6 REST-CLEAN PRO Industry News Industry News: This is a general update regarding the continual changes in the cleaning and restoration industry. Stephanie Beattie was the Keynote at the Connections Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas the beginning of September. She owns and operates The Center for Disaster Recovery in Canada. She has over 20 years in the cleaning and restoration industry and runs the largest training and certification center in Canada, training over 3000 students a year. Stephanie motivational talk called Life is but a Dream teaches attendees to look into their own future and learn how to dream again. Connections also added some additional programs to the convention including: Michael Griggs discussing a restorers perspective on pricing, Dan Bernazzani giving the consultants view of price models, Xactware discussing square foot versus unit pricing for dehumidifiers, and Sonia Gray presenting QuickBooks sessions on The Future of QuickBooks in Your Company and Power Tips and Tricks. The Water Damage Restoration field is changing rapidly. The science behind the field of work is doubling at least every 4 years. If you have not been back to a classroom and you are a water damage restoration professional, you owe it to yourself to take the time and update your company. The IICRC S500 Consensus Body for Water Damage Restoration has begun working on an update to the current document. The Consensus Body will take approximately 2 years in reviewing and updating the document. Work began a month ago following an IICRC Public Review where people affected by the document could make comments or recommendations for areas that needed additional work or improvement. The IICRC S600 Carpet Installation Consensus Body is still accepting applications. The Consensus Body Chaired by James Mullins of Shaw Industries and Vice Chaired by Barry Costa of Aspire Educational Institute will select the committee members in the coming weeks.
