2 Meet the Management ME Team Member & ICRA Executive Director Larry Cooper is an experienced business owner, entrepreneur, general management executive, business and community leader with 20 years experience in seminar, class, and event planning, 30 years of accomplishments in the carpet cleaning, restoration, and inspection industry as well as 25 years of accomplishments in community service, both volunteer and elected office. His business experience includes ownership or management of several successful businesses with full responsibility for business planning and implementation, marketing and sales strategies, business negotiations, staff development, budgeting and financial control, and operations management. Larry has years of consulting experience related small business consulting as well as to inspections of carpet, carpet specification, and detailed reporting. He also performs expert witness work in the carpet cleaning, mold remediation, water damage restoration industries. Larry's industry leadership experience includes president of a local trade association and president of an international industry certification board that is instrumental in establishing standards, training criteria, and testing for the carpet cleaning, restoration, and inspection industry. He has also chaired the international standards committee for carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, water damage, and mold remediation and was the consultant for the organization in writing and updating standard documents for the cleaning and restoration industry. Connections Conference continued from page 1 Along with many networking events, this show gave cleaning and restoration professionals the opportunity to learn in a hands-on environments from some of the best that the industry has to offer. Workshops were offered in Carpet Repair and Reinstallation with Barry Costa of Costa Group Education; Stone, Tile & Grout Cleaning and Sealing with Dane Gregory of Interlink Supply; Wood Floor Maintenance with Josh Frink of Basic Coatings; Infrared Cameras and Moisture Meters with Tom Rochenski of FLIR Systems Inc.; Mold Testing Using ATP, Air Samplers and Particle Counters with Daniel Bernazzani, PhD of DryAdvise by Liberty Consulting; Insider Secrets: Collect on Insurance Claims and Protect Your Business with Harvey Cohen, PC, and David Dybdahl; and Diversifying Into Commercial Carpet Maintenance Operations with Larry Cooper of Professional Cleaning and Restoration Network. Attendees were able to participate in sessions while learning these valuable skills in a Hands-on setting.

3 The Connections Conference and Exhibition also featured this years' keynote speaker, Gregg Habstritt, who spoke about helping companies grow their customer lists and their businesses by learning groundbreaking strategies that allow business owners to differentiate themselves, and become the Trusted Authority in their market. 9 Industry News: Virginia Reverses Law that Requires Licensing for Mold Inspection and Remediation (ICRA Headquarters - Denver, CO.) May 20, 2012 The Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Association (ICRA) is following closely some state and federal legislation and licensing in the mold remediation industry, including the latest change in the state of Virginia. We will continue to get more aggressive and involved in matters similar to this major legislation. On April 18, a law was enacted in Virginia to repeal the licensing requirement for companies providing mold inspection and remediation services in the state. After July 1, the day the repeal goes into effect, registrants will no longer be required to have a state license in order to perform these services. This reversal becomes law exactly one year after Virginia originally issued a law (code of Virginia,1950, as amended, in Title 54.1, Chapter 5) requiring that all mold inspectors and remediators obtain a Virginia Board for Asbestos, Lead, Mold, and Home Inspectors mold remediator worker, mold remediator supervisor or mold inspector license to legally operate in the state. We need to be more active on a national basis to see that these types of laws requiring licensing and other directives have input from the industries that will be most affected. ICRA will work going forward to be actively involved in future directives and legislation and recommend specific training and appropriate certificate and certification programs instead, said Daniel Bernazzani, PhD, ICRA Government Affairs Chairman. We will also be looking at future trends and interests that may affect our members businesses.
